Dr. Susan Chen received her Bachelor of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Washington. Dr. Chen then continued on to graduate from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2004 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
Dr. Chen is dedicated to Continuing Education and she will continue to bring new information, techniques, and technologies to Pine Lake Family Dentistry to ensure that you receive the best and most comprehensive care.
Dr. Susan Chen is committed to providing you and your family with dental care of the highest quality. She is passionate about promoting oral health and beautiful, confident smiles. Dr. Chen practices with integrity, compassion, and kindness while also providing you and your family with a comfortable and relaxing environment.
Dr. Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan and still has many family members living there. Her childhood was spent in the Bay Area in California, and in 1992 she moved to the Sammamish Plateau. After graduate school in 2004, Dr. Chen and her husband, Kyle, returned to the plateau and they enjoy living in the Issaquah Highlands neighborhood. They welcomed a son in 2008. Dr. Chen enjoys the outdoors, photography, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Fantastic experience! Had two cavities filled - Doctor Chen was super gentle, hygienist and doctor did a lot to ease my nerves (they were my first cavities and I was very anxious). The secretary was also very sweet and reassuring. Basically, everyone there is amazing, and I now love my dentist.
My wife and I both had fantastic experiences at Dr. Chen's office. The whole staff was friendly and professional, and we felt very well taken care of. I was impressed by the use of modern digital imaging (for both x-rays, and then visual cameras, which were helpful to show me directly what's going on and help explain things), and got excellent thorough explanations and had lots of opportunities to ask questions and share any concerns. I'd definitely recommend them.
Dr. Chen is a great dentist with the loveliest manner. She's extremely compassionate and helps you understand what is wrong and how she'll fix it with minimal pain and a quick recovery. She doesn't push for whitenings, but definitely for night mouthguards--though, I do think she has good intentions when offering them. My 8 yr old even loves going to the dentist. Her staff is equally lovely and it's a genuinely nice experience.
Dr. Chen and her team are the best! They are wonderful with kids; my son won't let anyone clean his teeth. They do a really good job at communicating costs and never push unnecessary procedures. I recommend Dr. Chen to all our friends and family!

Update- Dr Chen now has a second dentist working at her practice and she is just as comforting as Dr Chen. They do precise work, quickly, and without any discomfort. They never make you feel shame for needing work done and I ALMOST enjoyed my recent crown appointment. I like to wear noise canceling headphones and check out while they work and the ladies were adept at using hand signals to check on and communicate with me. The hygienist kept suction in my mouth the whole time as I hate the 'drowning' sensation. It was easy and pleasant to get care. I wouldn't go anywhere else for myself or my kids. I'd give her 10 stars of I could. Original review, 2019- Great technology, great staff. Dr Chen practices with kindness and compassion. My daughter had a filling that took less than 30 minutes. It was gentle, easy, and my kid said it was pretty much NBD.

Very pleasant and professional staff. Dr. Chen is awesome, she's a really skilled Dentist. They explain all the procedure that is being scheduled so you are aware of the treatment plan. Really happy to have this practice in the Sammamish area.

I'm always happy with my visit to Pine Lake Family Dentistry. The best! Today I was sitting in the waiting room, Doctor Chen walked in and greeted me and the other two patients by name. Today's visit was to address a painful tooth. I was treated with urgency, compassion and kindness by the entire staff. I don't know why you'd go anywhere else.

I've been a patient of Dr. Chen's for 10+ years. When I moved a 35 min drive away, I opted to stay with her instead of switching dentists. Everyone at the office including Brandy at the front desk is extremely sweet, patient, and polite. Dr. Chen is a kind person and efficient in appointments. I haven't had to do any major teeth work with her but I trust her competence without a doubt. Highly recommend!
