Dr. Michael A. Pikos is the CEO and Founder of Coastal Jaw Surgery and opened his first office in 1983 in Palm Harbor, FL. He is also the CEO and Founder of the world renowned Pikos Institute in Trinity, FL. He is recognized as a world authority on dental implant surgical reconstruction. Since 1990 he has been teaching advanced courses in bone and soft tissue grafting for dental implant placement with alumni that now number more than 5000 from all 50 states and 43 countries. He and his team of doctors emphasize interactive 3D CT radiograph technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive dental implant rehabilitation.

Dr. Michael A. Pikos is originally from Campbell, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos completed residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.

Dr. Pikos founded Coastal Jaw Surgery in 1983 and is the senior member of a four surgeon practice. He has extensive experience in implant surgery, having placed more than 30,000 implants and having performed thousands of hard and soft tissue grafting procedures. He emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation. Since 1990, he devoted his practice exclusively to implant dentistry.

Dr. Kenneth L. Anderson has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2017. He has been actively practicing as a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the past 7 years. Dr. Anderson specializes in dental alveolar surgery, Zygomatic implants, nerve repositioning for dental implants, temporary crowns for dental implants, temporary implants, guided implant surgery, complex bone and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma, platelet rich fibrin, oral pathology including jaw cysts and tumors. He assists in teaching dental clinicians in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgerys Pinnacle Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Anderson is located in the Spring Hill office.

Dr. Anderson practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis on dental alveolar surgery, implants, hard and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma, cleft palate, and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Anderson focuses much of his time expanding his knowledge at continuing education events throughout the country. Dr. Anderson has attended Dr. Arnetts course for orthognathic surgery and Dr. Bedrossians zygomatic implant training courses. He works closely with various other medical and dental specialties including dentists, ENT, and sleep specialists.

Dr. Philip J. Hedger has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2016 as our resident Prosthodontist. Dr. Hedger specializes in treating dental and facial issues that involve restoring missing teeth. He is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD). Dr. Hedger is faculty member of the Pikos Institute where he teaches implant prosthodontics. He assists in teaching dentists and hygienists in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgerys Pinnacle and Hygiene Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Hedger is located in the Same Day Teeth office in Trinity.

Dr. Hedger maintains an active involvement within the dental community, serving on committees and providing educational lectures to peers. He lives with his wife Stacy (his high-school sweetheart) and their four daughters in Odessa. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Nicole Hernandez is a native of Tampa, FL, born to parents of Cuban descent and happens to be the third-generation female dentist in her family. She received her early education locally at the Academy of the Holy Names, and received her degree in Biology at Florida State University.

Dr. Hernandez practices as a dual-degree Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Coastal Jaw Surgery, a multidisciplinary practice. She employs a full scope of surgical treatment with an emphasis on dental extractions, dental implants, hard and soft tissue bone grafting, benign pathology, and TMJ disease.

When not busy working, Dr. Hernandez enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and philanthropic activities. For the past seven years, she has been an active member of the Healing the Children organization, Florida Chapter, participating in surgical missions to Neiva, Colombia, benefitting children with cleft lip and palate. She is also an elected board member of the Tampa Bay Latin American Medical Society.
