Dr. Lance Pietropola and his wife Lindsay grew up locally and graduated from Northern York High School in Dillsburg, PA. They currently reside in York County with their two children. Dr. P, as he is warmly referred to, graduated from University of Maryland Dental School in 2004 and subsequently served as chief resident at the Baltimore VA Dental Clinic. Dr. P purchased the practice of retiring dentist Dr. Barry Shapiro in 2012.

Prior to reestablishing his York roots, he worked in private practice in Lancaster and Harrisburg while also serving the dental needs of veterans at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. As a dedicated provider and advocate of continuing education, he achieved his Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry which requires 500 hours of post-dental school advanced study as well as comprehensive examination. He brings with him a full understanding of the latest techniques dentistry has to offer.

Aside from dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading books, cheering for his favorite sports teams (Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers), and painting/drawing. We are sure that you will find him to be very gentle, knowledgeable and personable.

I want to start with saying my whole life I have HATED the dentist. I always had to take medicine before each appointment to calm down, it was that bad. Well that changed when I started coming to this dentist. All the staff are amazing and I love the women who cleans my teeth. The dentist is pretty great too. I no longer need meds to calm me down at all. I actually enjoy going to the dentist now.

I had a broken tooth that I have neglected for a long time that now caused constant pain. I'm a new patient and they were able to fit me in the day my wife called and helped me with this. Everyone treated me with kindnesses and compassion. I was embarrassed to go in with my neglected teeth and they didn't make me feel bad they just offered a plan of action to help me. That is appreciated.

Would have loved the opportunity to have a cleaning done at this dentist. I suffer from insomnia and overslept this morning and missed my 8:40am appointment. When I called at 9:20am to let them know they told me they do not reschedule new patients that miss their first appointment. I've been waiting for this appointment for weeks. I haven't had a cleaning in years and don't have insurance so my plan was to pay out of pocket. Rather than having some sort of understanding for something happening outside of my control they just say "too bad" and I'm discarded as a patient completely. This is what our healthcare system looks like in America. Zero compassion. Zero empathy. Zero understanding. Profit over people. You snooze you lose. Literally.

He's taken great care of my teeth and has fixed problems my previous dentist didn't seem to worry about. His staff is great too. I don't mean to gush, but they're all I could look for.

Awesome experience, after my old dentist retired I was nervous finding a different place, but I'm very happy I found Pietropola. Extremely friendly and welcoming, they did an amazing job with my daughter and son. I would recommend to family and friends.

I had to cancel as a new patient because of a snow storm on 11/15/2018 and then on September 1, 2021 I had to cancel due to flash flooding and a disaster declaration being declared today. A phone alert from the National Weather Service said stay indoors at the time of my appointment and they still told me I am not wanted as a patient. They let my son go too as a patient based on the fact that we had to cancel 1 time in 3 years due to his illness. Never had a dentist or doctor do this to me hefore.

Wow ,for 5 months trying to get a new patient appointment. Excuse because of covid. Excuse we don't accept delta dental. Ok ' I will pay out of pocket excuse we can't let you do that. Good luck may your need of not accepting new patients be profitable to your practice.

Very friendly and professional staff. I was scene right away, and they explained all my options for a treatment plan that worked with my insurance and out of pocket budget.

I really liked this place at first, however I had to reschedule my daughters appt due to sickness and then my own appt for a death in the family. I received a letter in the mail saying I was no no longer a patient there. I even emailed the dentist the proof that there was a death, he supposedly reviewed it and still said he would not accept us back. I don't know how you could be so cruel to someone who just loss a family member. So clearly you can be on your death bed but don't miss an appt with them or you'll be kicked to the curb.
