Dr. Peters received his dental and pediatric speciality education from the Virginia Commonwealth University and has been distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition to his private practice responsibilities, Dr. Peters serves as an Affiliate Professor within the VCU Department of Pediatric Dentistry and is the current President of the Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Peters grew up in Charlottesville and is grateful to serve the children of this special community and the surrounding areas. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, fly fishing, building projects and, when time allows, producing his own artwork.
Shawn is originally from the Charlottesville area and lives with her husband and youngest daughter. Her oldest daughter and son, live nearby with their respective families. Since 1978, Shawn has been working in the insurance and healthcare industry and is pleased to be part of the Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry team.' Shawn enjoys attending her children and grandchildrens sporting events, attending University of Virginia basketball games and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake. She loves being a mom, but she says nothing compares to being a Grandmama.
Lorna grew up in northern Virginia and is a graduate of the University of Virginias School of Architecture. She enjoys cooking, art, movies, and taking family vacations. Lorna loves living in Charlottesville with her husband, their triplets and the newest member of their family a springer-doodle puppy.
Mary Katherine is grew up in Williamsburg and is a graduate of the College of Charleston. She enjoys visiting local pre-schools and providing oral health education. Mary Katherine is married to Dr. Peters and loves spending time with their two children.
Jillian is from Staunton and is a graduate of Riverheads High School and Valley Vocational Technical Center. She enjoys swimming, cooking, cheerleading, and riding her dirt bike as well as spending time with her family and her boyfriend Jeremy. Jillian loves that her job gives her the opportunity to work with kids every day.
Nora is originally from Mexico, but moved to Charlottesville at nine years of age. She is a graduate of Monticello High School and Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center and also speaks Spanish. Nora 's favorite sports are volleyball and soccer and she loves spending time with her family and friends. 'I enjoy my job everyday, I love working with kids and its a pleasure for me to work at Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry.
Chelsea is from Fishersville and is a graduate from Wilson Memorial High School and Virginia Polytechnical and State University. She enjoys playing sports, attending bible studies, playing the guitar and working on her family's Christmas tree farm. In college, she worked as a nanny, where she was able to teach children the values of hard work, homework skills, and how to have fun. Chelsea is currently pursuing her dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her smiling face will be missed around the office and we wish her the best in her future as a dentist.

Dr. Peters is the best! He and his team have always been patient with Matthew and he loves them! We arrived a whole day early; and they still fit him in to be seen! I have nothing but excellent things to say!

The staff is always understanding, knowledgeable, and efficient. I have 6 children ranging from 15 years old- 9 months and they all are seen here. I have had two children be extremely uncooperative due to fear and they do their very best to help calm and re-assure them. We are currently seen in the Waynesboro location which will be closing soon, however we will continue to be seen in their Charlottesville location.

Dr. Peters is a great pediatric dentist. My son recently had orthodontics care, and Dr. Peters was sensitive to the brace work. As a preparatory requisite for braces, Dr. Peters performed tooth extraction surgery for two of my son's baby teeth. My son likes Dr. Peters and his team.

Dr. Peters was able to see us quickly to resolve two abscessed teeth. Even though it was a busy afternoon for him, he took time to connect with us and was very personable. I liked that he was decisive in his treatment plan for my daughter. He could see what needed to happen and how and communicated it to us clearly.

My son recently took a hard fall and broke one of his front teeth nearly in half and not only did they squeeze us in same day (and stay late to make sure a job well done!) but Dr. Barrett also took time to explain what was happening, what my options were, and the process for how to best help him heal. We've been using this office for years now and have always found the staff courteous, efficient, and great with the kids.

As we were leaving my kids said, "That was fun!" My kids both had anxiety about dentist appts after having negative experiences elsewhere. The staff is so friendly, thorough, and down to business. They address the kids and help them to learn to speak for themselves when it comes to their concerns and progress. My afab son was thankful that they used his pronouns and name without issue.
