Dr. Phyllis Cook, DDS, MPH Dr Phyllis Cook Dr. Cook was born in Kokomo, Indiana and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated Palm Beach Junior College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1975. She moved to North Carolina in 1985. The love for her work and her drive as a professional motivated her to pursue a career in Periodontology. She completed her pre-dental curriculum at UNC Charlotte in May of 1992. Dr. Cook excelled in her studies and graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry in May 1996. In the spring of 1996, she became involved in Teaching Assistants for Conservative Operative Dentistry (teaching freshman dental students preclinical operative skills). Dr. Cook received her certificate in Periodontics after completing the three year residency program in 1999, also at the UNC School of Dentistry.
Dr. Cooks honors include maintaining the Deans List at the University of North Carolina in 1993 and 1995. She was honored with the Summer Cancer Assistantship Award in 1995 and the International College of Dentists Achievement Award in 1996. In the same year, Dr. Cook was awarded with the Annual Student Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, and was inducted in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Honorary Dental Society. Membership to the elite International Team of Implantology was awarded in 2005. She is an active adjunctive professor at the UNC School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontics. In November 2005, Dr. Cook became certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

I don't like Hollywood doctors, who do nothing more than drive the price up for things that are not relevant to the procedure in question, even if you are self paying patient.

Dr Cook is very thorough, she doesnt sugar coat any info she provides about the care she gives - she gives it to you like it is. I felt confident with her and her wonderful staff in the treatment plan for my teeth. Highly recommend.

I have two implants which are loose. Phyllis found the cause and gave me the options. I am very pleased and will follow through. She also found a tooth that may be getting ready to abscess. I will have it taken care of. I highly recommend her to anyone. DeLee Stearn

Great atmosphere, staff and dentist all are very nice, patient, understanding, don't rush you in and out, explains everything well, offers opportunity to ask any questions, very thorough, considers whole mouth health not just one problem, honest, considerate of patient, this practice is very high quality in serving their patients. Hardly no wait time. This dentist clearly stands out from the rest! I was referred to Dr. Cook and I'm so glad that I was! I highly recommend!! You won't regret it!

This was my first visit to see Dr. Phyllis Cook and I can only describe the experience as incredible. She is an outstanding periodontist with many years of experience. She gave me a complete and thorough oral examination and provided me with a number of very helpful suggestions to improve my oral hygiene going forward. Dr. Cook was also very attentive. She asked me lots of questions and listened carefully to what I had to say, and she took the time to explain everything in considerable detail. Absolutely no question that I would recommend Dr. Cook to anyone who is looking for an outstanding periodontist.
