At Phoenix Family Dentistry, we understand the important role that orthodontics can play in creating a healthy and beautiful smile. If you or your teen has crooked teeth, overly crowded teeth, an underbite or an overbite, correcting these challenges can prolong the lifespan of natural teeth by helping them to remain in good condition. Both Invisalign and braces can do so by applying pressure to the teeth or by working in combination with other orthodontic measures like spacers. When determining which is better, Invisalign or braces, you must really evaluate your lifestyle and determine which solution will work within it. From a day-to-day perspective, patients prefer Invisalign due to the flexibility that it provides. If you live in the Phoenix area, we encourage you to schedule an examination so that we can determine the best way to proceed with straightening your teeth. You can do so by calling (602) 547-9007.

When straightening teeth we do more than move physical teeth into the right position. We also align the bite. Otherwise, you will continue to have problems and discomfort. When wearing braces, the bite is often aligned using a series of rubber bands that hold the jaw in a particular position by stringing a band from one bracket on the top palate to one on the lower jaw. When straightening teeth with Invisalign, pressure is applied to the teeth to move them into the right position. This means that if your underbite or overbite is caused by your teeth, it can be corrected using aligners. However, if you have a physical problem with your jaw, you may need to have jaw surgery in addition to wearing your aligners. Another option for misaligned jaws, that cannot be fixed using aligners, is to wear traditional braces. When you visit our dental office, we will let you know if your bite problems can be solved with Invisalign and very often they can be.

At Phoenix Family Dentistry, we can solve the challenge you are having with overcrowding using several methods. The most common orthodontic option is wearing an expander. This can be done when straightening teeth with braces or Invisalign. An expander pushes the arch outward so that there is naturally more room for your teeth. This is the least invasive method and often preferred by our patients. The other option is to remove one or several teeth prior to straightening them or to shave off small portions of the enamel to make enough room. When you visit our dentist office, we can explain all of these options in detail so that you can make an educated decision regarding which solution is right for you.

Attachments are the small bumps that you may see on the teeth of someone wearing Invisalign. They are round, small and made of tooth-colored resin so that they are barely noticeable. Not everyone needs them as part of their treatment. If we recommend attachments, then you should seriously consider it because they make it far easier for your teeth to move during the treatment process. They make it easier for the aligners to grip and, therefore, apply more pressure so that your teeth can move more effectively. Since they are removable, they will come off at the end of your treatment plan. Buttons may also be used in combination with or in lieu of attachments. They work differently because while they are bonded to the teeth, an elastic is often secured to them.

Does Invisalign really work? This treatment is often marketed as a more convenient alternative to braces, but some patients are concerned about its effectiveness. Invisalign may sound too good to be true patients do not have to worry about avoiding certain foods that may become stuck in traditional braces.Like traditional braces, Invisalign is designed

There are many misconceptions about Invisalign, including that it only works if your teeth are just slightly crooked. This is far more than a retainer and can certainly help to straighten your teeth, regardless of how crooked they are. In rare cases, crooked teeth need actual braces but this usually due to a severe misalignment

When it comes to straightening crooked teeth, Invisalign for teens is an excellent option for many families. This system is appealing due to its numerous benefits:Shorter treatment timelinesDiscreet appearanceLess discomfortFewer dietary restrictionsAs with any type of alignment system, teenagers need guidance when managing the new responsibility of wearing and caring for Invisalign trays. A kid friendly dentist creates a healthy and comfortable professional environment, providing the age-appropriate dental treatment a child needs for healthy teeth. Phoenix Family Dentistry is a kid friendly dentist office in the greater Phoenix area.

As a kid friendly dentist, we strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment to help kids have a positive experience with visiting the dentist. It is no surprise that many children, and adults, are not always fond of dental treatment. However, by creating a positive experience with the dentist at a young age, children will have a more positive view of oral hygiene as a whole.

We will also help to instill healthy oral hygiene habits the parent or guardian can continue at home, to help make brushing teeth fun for the child. Our goal is to help children maintain healthy teeth as they age so that they can continue to have healthy teeth later in life. We will customize treatment to the child's needs and help ease them into a regular dental routine.

As a parent, you naturally want what is best for your child. Many parents are unaware of how oral health and dental care plays into that. According to the Center for Disease Control, tooth decay (cavities) is the number one most commonly occurring infectious disease among children. This leads to children experiencing toothaches in high numbers, missing days from school, and experiencing overall discomfort. Tooth decay is not a trivial thing, but a condition that can create significant discomfort for your child and even make it difficult for them to eat, speak clearly, and engage in normal daily activities. If you live in the Phoenix area and think that this will not happen to your child, statistically, it most likely will. Brushing and flossing at home will help, but it is not enough. You need to bring your child to our kid friendly dentist office twice a year so that we can examine and clean their teeth. By doing this, we will be able to remove the plaque and bacteria that can lead to cavities in the first place.

In addition to visiting our kid friendly dentist office, it is important that you practice good oral hygiene at home and teach your child to do the same. In our dental office, we work with a lot of children under age eight and understand how challenging it can be to get them excited about brushing teeth. Kids are busy and asking them to stop riding bikes, building Legos, or playing dress up to brush their teeth can lead to conflict fairly quickly. We get it. At Phoenix Family Dentistry, we can work with young children and are under no illusion that they are fascinated by oral health. Our job, however, is to change their opinion of dental care and show them that it can be fun and interesting. This way they will want to brush and floss their teeth, even without being told. With that in mind, we have a few resources that we have found to be helpful and suggest that you try them at home.

Once your child is brushing correctly, it is time to turn your attention to how long they are brushing for. At Phoenix Family Dentistry we encourage all of our patients to brush for two minutes, twice a day, regardless of how old they are. This, however, can be difficult for young children that find it hard to focus on a task or to stay still. As a kid friendly dentist, we want them to brush their teeth but staying still isn't a requirement. Try making it fun to brush teeth by playing their favorite song for two minutes and letting them dance and brush. You can also play a two-minute video clip or cartoon for them while brushing. The American Dental Association has an entire section of their website devoted to these short videos and watching them will get your child used to brushing for the full two minutes. We have worked with families throughout the Phoenix area and have found that using media works far better than standing there with a stopwatch. The goal is to create positive associations between dental care and having fun so that your child will continue to brush their teeth as they grow.

As a kid friendly dentist office in Phoenix, we are focused on preventative care. It is far better for your child to visit us for a regular teeth cleaning than to only see us with a toothache. Fortunately, by using preventative care methods we can help your child to avoid experiencing any dental discomfort. In addition to cleaning their teeth, one of the ways that we do so is with dental sealant. Many children have deep ridges in their teeth. When they bite down and chew food, bacteria, food particles, and plaque can become trapped in those ridges and eventually they will create tooth decay. These areas are particularly difficult to clean with a toothbrush alone, so even the most fastidious of parents may find it challenging to keep cavities at bay. By using dental sealant, a protective layer is placed onto the teeth so that nothing can become stuck in these ridges. The procedure is painless and fast since all we need to do is brush a material onto the teeth and allow it to harden. At Phoenix Family Dentistry, we have found this to be a simple way to prevent our young patients from getting cavities.

Another tool for prevention is our regular fluoride treatments. We recommend that all children have this throughout their teenage years. If you aren't on public water, this is particularly important for preventing cavities. Statistically, if your child has a fluoride treatment in our dental office, their risk for getting cavities decreases by thirty percent. This is significant when you are considering the overall health and well-being of your child. With that in mind, we use whatever tools are at our disposal to ensure that your child is as healthy and as comfortable as possible both now and as they age. If you live in the Phoenix area, we invite you to schedule a dental exam by calling (602) 547-9007.

Tooth decay is one of the most common oral health issues experienced by children. A pediatric dentist can help your child develop a proper oral hygiene routine that may prevent serious consequences, such as problems with speaking, eating, learning, and playing.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 20% of children have a decayed

Filling cavities is one of many services that a family dentist provides. Cavities are holes in teeth that occur due to tooth decay. However, if the decay is caught early, it may be possible to reverse it before a cavity forms. Understanding how and why tooth decay happens may make it easier to learn how

Has the family dentist been absent from your life? If it has been a long time since you last visited the dentist, you need to pay more attention to your oral health. The dentist provides essential treatment and care for you and your family members. Perhaps you think you have healthy teeth and gums, but

I am very happy with the recent changes at this office. Doctor Culver is a friendly and experienced young man with a straight forward approach. He and the staff are efficient and pleasant. I appreciate the doctor and other employees not pushing unnecessary procedures to increase the total bill. I do however respect being given the options and having an explanation about possible choices that can be made to improve dental health. Cristina is one of the hygienists on staff. I can not say enough good things about her. A gentle touch, fast and thorough. What more could you ask for? Then to top it off was given a link to save about 50% on a highly rated ( like 38,000 5 star reviews) and recommended electric toothbrush.Overall a great experience. Highly recommend this Dental office.
