Dr. Joseph Roberts completed a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and has received formal dental education at Temple University School of Dental Medicine, Montefiore Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Roberts has served as President of Eastern Dental Society as well a founding member and president of Philadelphia Implant Society. Dr. Roberts has been published in the Journal of the American Dental Association and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of local and national dental organizations and has lectured abroad in dental implants and digital radiography. Dr. Roberts serves on the Board of the Kornberg School of Dentistry.

Dr. Kathryn Ames has been a member of the American Dental Association, and The Pennsylvania Dental Association. She completed her undergraduate training at Universities in Maine and Pennsylvania and received her doctorate in Dental Medicine from Temple University. Dr. Ames served as clinical instructor at Temple University, helping shape the next generation of great dentists.
Dr. Tewari is a proud native of Delaware County and excited to remain in her beloved city of Philadelphia to practice. Dr. Tewari is known with her patients to have a uniquely gentle touch and calming demeanor which makes, what can be a scary environment for most people, feel much more comfortable. In fact, many of her patients are those who have avoided the dentist for years out of fear, meet her and finally feel the ease and confidence to get to their healthiest self possible. Patients leave her chair amazed to find a dental visit can actually be painless and pleasant. Her primary goal as a provider is to build trusted lifelong relationships with her patients.
Dr. Tewari received her Masters in Biomedical Sciences at The Commonwealth Medical College and her Doctorate at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. While in dental school she was awarded the prestigious Dean 's Scholarship for Professionalism and Ethics.It was also here she first met Dr. Ames who then hand picked her to join the Philly Smiles team. It has continued to be a passion of hers to pursuepost graduate training in her field. She spends much of her free time traveling around the country to take courses and learn from most renowned dentists and in fact has over 500 hours of continuing education. Her post-graduate training includes a distinctive six-month Implant continuum course, advanced occlusion bite relationship training, certification with the Advanced Laser Training academy to treat gum disease as well as halitosis, and is a provider for 'clear braces' with Invisalign. All of her extensive training allows her to provide the most conservative, effective, and technologicallyadvanced treatment for her patients.
Sheena Shukla Hauser, DDS is a proud Canadian who hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia where she was born and raised. She attended Dalhousie University faculty of Dentistry after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology.Dr. Hauser then completed a 2 year general practice residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.This comprehensive residency allowed her to treat and manage patients with complex dental and medical needs.She enjoyed her time in North Carolina after which she migrated north to the suburbs of Philadelphia. She has practiced in this area since 2008 and is thrilled to now be a part of the Philly Smiles team.

The Philly Smiles office isnt like most dental offices. Were extremely lucky to call the Thomas A. Reiley House, a building built by the renowned Victorian-era architect Frank Heyling Furness in 1891, our own home. One of two remaining Frank Furness built residential homes on Rittenhouse Square, this piece of Philadelphia history served as a family home for roughly a century before becoming the location for Philly Smiles.
There is no better base for the dental practice that Dr. Ames and Dr. Roberts set out to create over 30 years ago. Their dream was to create a space that made patients and staff feel at home by fostering a sense of both comfort and community, bounded by a set of family values at its core.
With the help of some gorgeous original wood paneling and Victorian-era decor, weve managed to create a home for our practice that makes patients forget that theyre visiting the dentist. It is only when they sit down in a chair and see our state of the art dental equipment that they remember where exactly they are.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Tewari and everyone at Philly Smiles. The office staff are super nice. I always feel at ease coming there. Unfortunately, I have had procedures with other dentists that left me with extreme fear. Dr. Tewari takes her time explaining what is going on and let's me take breaks whenever I need it. She also has a very calming demeanor which has helped me through many complex fillings and crowns. I highly recommend coming to their office especially if you have a fear of dentists!

Dr. Tewari is truly a top provider. I'm so glad to have found the team at Philly Smiles. After a major lapse (8 years) in dental treatment, there was quite a lot of work to be done on my teeth--cleaning, drilling, filling, scaling and implant crown fabrication/placement. Dr. Tewari and Edyta made quick work of difficult procedures during which I felt both cared for and comfortable. Outside of the dentist's chair, Sally proved to be a true advocate for the practice's patients while expertly handling difficulties with my insurance company. Thank you again Sally! In fact, all of the personnel at the practice were kind and helpful. Danita at the front desk helped me in trying to remember all the names, but I'm realizing now that I definitely missed a few. Thank you to everyone at Philly Smiles who helped me get my smile right!

I've been a patient at Philly Smiles since 2007 and wouldn't consider seeing another dentist. Dr. Roberts and Dr Ames have saved my teeth, each in their own right. Dr. Roberts is always on the forefront of dental technology and replaced all of my old crowns while remaking my smile. Dr. Ames saved me from the ravages of gum disease and taught me the proper way to care for my dental health. I have terrible teeth, but I consider this innovative team of dental professionals to be my dental first responders. You really can't do better than Philly Smiles. I recommend them highly and without reservation.

I love the team. Although I moved to Boston in 1996, I return to Dr. Robert's and his staff yearly because their quality staff, service and personalized touch cannot be surpassed. It's been about 33 to 35 years now. It really is a family and I've always trusted his care and appreciated his friendship and skill. I wouldn't trade PHILLY Smiles for all the free dental care in New England. I've watched the staff grow up and everyone is always welcoming and professional. This office is fantastic.

I am a dentist and I got introduced to Dr. Roberts as I was looking for a very skilled dentists for my own dental workup. I can say Dr. Roberts went above and beyond to do the best diagnostic and treatment plan workup, and for a busy person as I am, offered me the most convenient and flexible scheduling. Being a dental professional, I witnessed Dr. Roberts using the best materials with best quality to restore my teeth. When it comes to giving anesthesia, Dr. Roberts is the most skilled dentist I have seen as he takes his time when giving the anesthetic so the patient do not even feel when the needle went through. Dr. Roberts did everything to make my trip plans go very smooth without fear of having pain during my out of country trip and he stayed in touch with me even while I was outside country. He personally found the best specialists for my root canal workup and was in constant touch with them to make sure I am in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Roberts and his practice as I believe having a good dentist is one of the most valuable investments one can do in life as it can save you so much money and save you from so much dental complexities later on in life.

Walks you through every step of the process and makes you feel at ease. I honestly can't say enough good things about her. Over the past several days, I was experiencing pain in lower right jaw. I decided to call Philly Smiles to make an appointment. Their front desk, who was managed by, Danita, was courteous and accommodating. She helped me schedule an appointment the following day. The next day, during check-in, Danita went over all my payment options, and explained in detail how the visit would transpire. As explained, I was then helped by Nadia, the hygienist, who processed my x-ray, and immediately seated me, to see the Dentist. (She was professional as well). After only sitting for maybe five minutes, I was introduced to the Dentist, Dr. Hauser, who promptly explained the issue I was having with my lower right jaw. She was very pleasant, but also an expert in highlighting specifically the root (no pun intended) of the problem. After the appointment I walked away feeling good knowing the next steps for fixing my issue. Overall, the whole process from Danita's administrative skill set, Nadia's social skills, and Dr. Haus expertise, really made this visit easy. This team is exceptional! They were quick and efficient. Definitely would strongly recommend Philly Smiles to my family and friends!

I am the world's biggest baby when it comes to the dentist due to past dental trauma (NOT from Philly Smiles) and I am always treated with the kindest and compassionate care. They make me feel very comfortable and are very patient with me. They are also up on the most current dental technology so I know that I am getting the most up to date care (bye dark fillings and crowns). I would recommend them to anyone. They offer excellent dental care.
