Both dentists are lifelong residents of the Wilmette area and have built their personal and professional lives in this community. Philip M. Cook, DDS, followed in his fathers footsteps to become a dentist, but he practices dentistry with his own unique approach. His focus is on esthetic restorative dentistry, and men, women and children from throughout the North Shore (Wilmette, IL) turn to him to make the most out of their smiles.
Dr. Cook earned his undergraduate degree at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He went on to study dentistry at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Afterward, he completed a residency in general practice at Northwestern Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.
His professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, and the American General Dentist Society. His achievements include the Arm & Hammer Dental Care Scholarship and a Senior Student Dental Award.
Dr. Cook was raised in Winnetka and returned to the area after school to join his father in practice. He currently lives in Wilmette with his wife and 3 children. When hes not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and pursuing numerous outdoor activities. Dr. Cook also is available 24/7 for any patient emergencies.
With more than 40 years in practice, Philip E. Cook, DDS, has gained the experience and skill that only comes from assisting hundreds of patients with a wide range of dental needs in Wilmette, Illinois. Now in practice with his son, Dr. Cook is enjoying this phase of his career.
Dr. Cook began his education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After earning his undergraduate degree in 1967, he attended Northwestern Dental School in Evanston, Illinois. Next came a residency at Evanston Hospital, which he completed in 1972.
After decades of helping people from in and around Chicago, Dr. Cook has earned the trust of many patients who also bring their extended family to the practice. To Dr. Cook, getting to know patients over the course of many years is one of the most rewarding aspects of building a longstanding family dental practice.
Chicago Magazine acknowledged Dr. Cooks expertise and personal approach by naming him one of the top 30 dentists in the Chicago area. The Chicago Tribune also noted him as a top dentist from 2011-2017.

With many age related dental issues which seriously damaged my teeth, Dr Cook utilized state of the art technology to address my problems. His approach provided rapid treatment with minimal physical discomfort. Can't say enough about his thorough explanation while performing these procedures.

Dr. Cook and all assistants are knowledgeable and amazingly efficient but thorough in their work. You never have to keep your mouth open for long periods, and the results are fantastic! Dr. Cook is an artist with his dentistry, and he has shared that value with all his employees.

For 29 years, I have received highly competent treatment from Dr. Cook. The traits of professionalism and courtesy apply to his whole staff. The latest example of competency is the regimen required by Covid 19. Detailed compliance with requirements, yet the quality of the treatment didn't miss a beat.

I've always felt lucky to find Dr. Cooks practice as they are so conscientious, kind, and knowledgeable. Now having been back after their closing down for the Covid-19 restrictions, I am feeling even more fortunate! They follow the CDC guidelines to the letter, and I felt very safe during my visit. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

AWESOME!! Dr. Cook Sr. has been our family dentist for 30 years. We are moving in 2 days and upon my last visit his son, Dr. Cook Jr. saw that I needed my filling replaced and he and Kim in record time replaced it so I didn't need to come back before moving (Thank You Kim for making that happen!!). Highly recommend this practice to anyone moving to the Wilmette area!!!
