Originally from Mankato, MN, Dr. Petersen received his bachelors degree as well as his dental degree from the University of Minnesota. After a one year residency at the University, he opened the Lakeville practice in 1991. Dr. Petersen and his wife and children have lived in Lakeville since 1993.
Originally from St. Paul, MN, but has lived in Prior Lake since 1985. After receiving his degree from the University of Minnesota in 1996, Dr. Watzl spent six years in the Air Force split evenly between Sacramento, CA and Anchorage, AK. Since leaving the Air Force in 2002, Dr. Watzl has been workinig as an associate for Dr. Petersen. Dr. Watzl and his wife live in Prior Lake.

I've been going to Petersen dental for years and have always been happy! Fairly easy to schedule appointments all be it booking them 6 months in advance to stay on a schedule. The hygienists are efficient and gentle but pay close attention to areas as needed. And both Dr Petersen & Dr Watzl are perfectionists in the best way possible when it comes to teeth. Dr Watzl did caps on my 2 front teeth due to a chip in 1 and the color and look not only matches my old teeth he did it in a way that straightened the alignment too! I get so many compliments on my smile and I give all the credit to the team at Petersen dental!

Highly Recommend Dr Petersen! He is super gentle, fast/efficient and very skilled at the numbing up process before treatment (mine was pain free, an I had 3 different treatments done). HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are nervous about dental treatment and need reassurance, Dr. Petersen will surprise you how gentle, quick and easy any treatment can/should be at the dentist.

Very professional and friendly staff. The quality of work done by Dr. Petersen is comparable to building a deck from iron wood, it's top notch. Highly recommended for anyone who needs dental work done.

We have had excellent care at Petersen Family Dental. They are friendly and great with my children. They know how to make them feel calm and ready to get the cleaning done. Very professional and almost all dental work that you'd need done can be completed in there office. No need to be sent to another location. We've been going here for 3 to 4 years and love the staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a dental clinic to go to.

Great level of care. Very nice people from the front desk to the dental assistants to Dr. Watzl himself. They were prompt and efficient for each of our visits, while making sure all questions and concerns were covered.
