Karie received her certification in Dental Hygiene from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1997. While working in private practice, she earned her BS in Dental Hygiene from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998.

After moving to New Hampshire with her husband and finally settling in Peterborough in 2001, she joined the dental practice of then Dr. Paul Jane and Dr. David Hedstrom and has been a hygienist with the now Peterborough Family Dental and Implant Center ever since.

An active mother of three, Karie enjoys her role in the community as an oral health advocate in and out of the office. Seeing our patients in the community and serving our friends in the office is one of the best parts of my job.

Hello my name is Alyce. I am one of Dr. Ainslies assistants. I have been a Dental Assistant for nineteen years. My current certification allows me to draw blood in the office. This allows our patients to have their own blood rich in protein plasma to be placed back in an extraction site or implant site. This helps increase healing and lessen post-op discomfort.

Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. Gum disease has two primary stages. If diagnosed and treated in the first stage, the condition can be reversed and tooth loss can usually be prevented. In order to prevent gum disease, practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist for cleanings and check-ups twice a year.

This stage only affects the soft tissue of the gums, and the patient may not experience any discomfort. Although the symptoms may be very mild, it is important to diagnose gum disease in this early stage before it progresses to periodontitis.

Periodontitis is the name for more advanced periodontal disease and if permitted to progress to this point, not only the gums are affected but the bone structures supporting the teeth will be compromised.

A build-up of bacteria causes Gingivitis. In its early stages, inflammation around the gums is observable, with gum tissues appearing red and swollen. Gums that are easily irritated or that bleed during tooth brushing indicate the presence of Gingivitis. Removal of the plaque buildup is necessary to prevent the development of gum disease.

As the gums become more inflamed, they start to pull away from the teeth, forming spaces known as periodontal pockets. Food, bacteria, and plaque begin to collect in the pockets, leading to infection. The surrounding bone becomes damaged both by bacterial toxins and by the immune systemsresponse to infection.

I have been coming to this dentist for longer then I can remember. I was a bit concerned when Dr. Hedstrom retired. I can honestly say that they got a wonderful replacement, and the changeover was smooth as could be. I highly recommend Dr. Rahim. Professional service, always with a smile from the entire staff.

My husband and I both place high value on the positive experience we have had at Peterborough Family Dental & Implant Center, specifically with Dr. Jasper Ainslie. We would like to share our experiences. Beginning with my husband, one day he went to see his former dentist of many years. The dentist called him into her office, and said she had bad news. She said it was her opinion, and the opinion of the oral surgeon on staff, that my husband needed to have all of his teeth pulled out, to be replaced by dentures. My husband was in total shock! Out of total desperation, while talking about his situation with a colleague of mine, my colleague stated that she was very happy with her dentist of long term and suggested that we seek his opinion. As it turned out her dentist was not taking on new clients as he was about to retire, but he did offer some advice...He said, "Go see the best dentist I know, Jasper Ainslie". To make a long story short, we followed his advice and Dr. Ainslie saved every one of my husband's teeth. My husband is not an easy patient to work on. He suffers from Parkinson's disease. He jokingly refers to himself as a "moving target." He also says he is living proof that Dr. Ainslie can do things other dentists can't do. My personal experience with Dr. Ainslie has been equally positive. Dr. Ainslie has often said, "There is never any reason to experience pain in the dentist chair." I have found that to be true and it is great to have no fear at all when I go to the dentist. All of the staff at Peterborough Family Dental & Implant Center are always both friendly and professional. They even sent my husband a get-well card when he was in the hospital. What dentist extends himself to that degree? We both feel that Dr. Ainslie is not just a great dentist, but a virtuoso in dentistry!

I have been a patient of Dr. Raheem for over a year and I have been quite delighted with the staff and with the doctor. I had a dentist that I had seen for almost 30 years before he retired and was lamenting that I would not find a terrific replacement. I have and have recommended this practice to anyone who asks.

Dr. Rahim is a highly skilled, caring, personable, and professional dentist with a very talented and friendly staff to match. The office is beautiful with very tall ceilings and well laid out open workspaces. All of my experiences have been comfortable and totally pain free. I switched dentists to come here and I am so thankful that I did.

If i could give 0 stars i would. Absolutely the worst dentist i have ever been to in my life. DO NOT GET WORK DONE HERE. I got half a root canal done, it was the most painful experience of my life, literally squeezing my jacket crying and i am a 24 year old man. I went to get another one done at a specialist and it was A NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. Now, i am trying to get the one they half did done because it is completely infected, and they give me nothing but rudeness and attitude and REFUSE To send a referral OR My records so i am stuck dealing with this infection for days now, because they are money grabbing terrible people. Do. Not. Go. Here. They dont know what they are doing there, and they dont care.

I have been a patient at this practice for over 40 years. When Dr. Jane retired, I elected to stay with the practice and am glad I did. Dr. Rahim and staff( especially Jane and Hurla) have maintained the excellence I am used to. Their skill, courtesy and friendliness cannot be overstated. I can recommend them to anyone looking for excellent dental care.

Rude receptionists. Very aggressive communication. Non friendly and uninviting atmosphere. If these people are the representation of the dentists I would be very apprehensive about allowing them to do my dental work.

Today I had to get a crown, I am completely terrified of the dentist and I don't do well with needles either. After applying the numbing gel he went to inject my check and I had a complete panic attack, one of the worst ones I've had in a very long time. Both him and the hygienist did an amazing job consoling me and talking me through it. He gave me plenty of time to relax before going again and made me feel really welcome, even though I felt so embarrassed. They laughed with me and told me I did really well even though I know I did not. I appreciate the way they handled things and I will definitely be continuing all my dental care here.

Dr. Rahim placed an implant into one of my molars. The process takes time and is complicated. The doctor and his team made it all painless and perfect. With appreciation, Garrett Peyton

i crowley, their "contact us" person, never bothered to respond to my request for copy of my x-rays (owned and paid for by me). Apparently, important to me, but not her.

I highly recommend Dr. Rahim and Peterborough Family Dental. I have used many dentists and have had quite a bit of work done and Dr. Rahim is far and away the best dentist I have ever had. First, he is very open and honest in his assessment of the work needed. Second, he is very aware of the comfort or discomfort of his patient as he's working. He noticed my discomfort with the saliva collecting and suggested raising my head a bit. Seconds later, he seamlessly adjusted his chair and his position to accommodate my new position. He is so gentle, you barely feel his hands on your face. Lastly, I had a very bad reaction to novocaine years back and refused all anesthesia after that. I had two crowns with no numbing. But when I needed a crown with Dr. Rahim, he suggested a different product and was willing to give me a smaller dose. I had no adverse reaction and a much easier time! I am so glad to count myself among their patients and give Dr. Rahim a shining 5 star rating.

Dr. Rahim is a very skilled and caring dentist. I have had extensive work done and he went out of his way to be sure I was comfortable. His knowledge of the latest technology shows in his work. I certainly can recommend him for any and all procedures.
