Dr. Shawn Gilbert and Dr. Joslyn Jenkins are a husband and wife endodontic team serving the Permian Basin. It is our commitment to our patients to provide them with the highest quality of patient care. Both of our offices in Midland and Odessa use the latest and most up-to-date technology, including digital radiography, microscopes, and cone beam CT imaging.
Endodontist Dr. Joslyn Jenkins was raised in Miami, Florida. She earned her dental degree in 1997 from the University of Florida. Dr. Jenkins then completed her specialty training at University of Texas in 1999. She returned to Florida, and had a private practice in Sarasota until 2008. In 2008 she sold her practice and moved to Midland.
Both Drs. Gilbert and Jenkins are dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of endodontic knowledge and skill possible. This is why both doctors became board certified. Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics is a voluntary process. It requires successful completion of a three-part examination: a written examination, case history examination, and oral examination. Achieving Diplomate status requires many years of hard work and commitment. Less than twenty five percent of endodontists are board certified. Drs. Gilbert and Jenkins made becoming diplomates a goal, and achieved this goal together.
Endodontist Dr. Shawn Gilbert grew up in Midland, Texas. He earned his dental degree at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1997. Following dental school, he completed a one year general practice residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Gilbert completed his specialty training at the University of Texas San Antonio in 2000. He then returned home to Midland and began his practice.
Steffan is the 2nd youngest among 5 siblings; born and raised in the rural midwest working the family farm raising Black Angus cattle and Christmas Trees. He graduated in the top of his class at the University of Minnesota Dental School earning the prestigious Dinh Quan Award for Excellence in Endodontics. He received his endodontic training at the distinguished University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC), earning his Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology. North Carolinas program is respected worldwide and provides extensive surgical training and has provided experience in microscopic endodontic care as early as 1993. As an avid lifetime learner, he is a member of the ADA & AAE, and is very active in continuing education and has maintained membership in the Seattle and Spear Study Clubs for years. He also has been active in education and teaching having lectured across the Midwest and his alma mater UNC.
Steffan loves history, travel, music, and visiting with friends and his two sons; but especially hes passionate about old cars. Whether driving or working on them, he has restored many and drives them every day to work. Having made many friends within the hobby, Steffan, at the suggestion of those in Texas, sold his successful practice in North Dakota and moved to Lubbock, TX in 2013.
Now having worked in the West Texas area for the past 8 years, Steffan looks forward to serving the area for many years to come, and strives to provide the highest level of endodontic treatment and care.

Staff and both Doctors were professional, prompt, courteous and genuinely care. Dr. Josylin was great. Root canal went off without a hitch. I will surely return to them, if any further work is necessary for me.

My dentist, Dr. Weaver, sent me to Permian Basin Endodontics for a root canal procedure. I met with Dr. Gilbert for a diagnosis, and the root canal procedure was performed by Dr. Jenkins the following day. Both doctors, as well as the office staff, were very patient, and professional. I highly recommend Permian Basin Endodontics.

The bedside manner & explanation of what you need, what they'll do & seeing the proof is completely different than the other Endodontist competitors (in Midland).

I have dental anxiety and the thought of having a root canal was terrifying! Before I moved to Midland I had a root canal done at a dental clinic and it was not a good experience. Dr. Jenkins and her staff were incredible! From the moment I walked in their office they took great care to make sure that I felt comfortable and understood exactly what needed to be done. Dr. Jenkins thankfully was able to correct my previous root canal and throughout the procedure she and her amazing staff would ask how I was doing and if I needed anything. After the procedure I had no discomfort at all and left their office feeling great. Dr. Jenkins and her staff made this experience so much easier and I would recommend them to anyone.
