Dr. Berger is an internationally recognized dental implant oral surgeon. As a speaker and author, he regularly presents research on immediate function dental implants. He has presented at the Friadent Symposium in Germany and at the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in San Diego. He is co-author of multiple articles including a dental implant research paper published in the prestigious International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implant Dentistry.
Joel Berger, D.D.S., M.D. holds undergraduate and doctorate degrees in dentistry from McGill University, (Montreal, Canada) and a doctorate degree in general medicine from the University of Washington (Seattle).
Dr. Berger entered the oral and maxillofacial surgery-training program at UW to complete his surgical training. He then spent a year in Europe doing a fellowship at two major centers in both Holland and Austria. Finally, in 1981, after one more year of advanced training at McGill University, Dr. Berger began his practice in San Diego.
Dr. Atassi received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1996, and his certificate in the specialty of Prosthodontics from the University of California, San Francisco in 2000.
In June of 2000, Dr Atassi was awarded a Scholarship, and received further surgical and restorative training in implant dentistry at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, completing his fellowship in implant dentistry in September 2001.
Dr. Atassi has held several teaching positions. At Harvard School of Dental Medicine, he was the director of the Oral Structure and Function course. He was responsible for the clinical supervision of dental students and served as a tutor for problem-based learning group tutorials. Dr Atassi was also as a full-time faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, teaching fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics, along with operative dentistry.
We believe that innovation is one of the most important aspects in the dental world. For many years, dental professionals have sought the best treatment for people with missing and decaying teeth. Dental implants have been regularly used since the early 1900s with mixed results, but it wasnt until Dr. Branemarks 1978 research showed how well human bone fused to a titanium screw did it become a common treatment plan.
In the early 1980s, PermaDontics founder, Dr. Joel Berger theorized that dental implants supported by an arch of teeth in a fixed prosthesis could be immediately placed in a patients mouth immediately after implant placement. He believed that the arch would support the implants as they healed, just as a bridge is supported by its arches. This revolutionary leap in treatment would allow patients to leave the doctors office without a six month wait for the implants to heal.
In the 10+ years since it opened, the PermaDontics medical team has performed thousands of Same Day Teeth Procedures with a documented 99.4% success rate. With some pre-planning, their old smile can now be restored in just one day. They are no longer under the same ownership, and have abandoned patients that they worked on.. refusing to do any follow up care. I would advise anyone to find a more reputable care provider.

I had full mouth implants several years ago. I'm very satisfied with the implants and with the excellent care since. The hygienist Ms Myhrun takes great care of me, answers my questions, offers helpful suggestions to protect my dental health. She friendly and respectful and very much an asset to Permadontics . I can't say enough great things about the staff and the work they performed on me, true professionals! Thank you to Dr. Berger, Dr. Krueger, Joseph in the lab and the rest of the amazing staff. I had a very extensive dental procedure ( all teeth replaced with implants) and I'm very happy with the results. It was a long road but seamless process because of the care I received. My new teeth look natural and feel great! Anyone looking for a dental office, no matter how big or how small the job, go here! You won't be disappointed!

The Dental Implant staff at PermaDontics have been great! They really know dental implants because thats all they do. I went to several dentists before deciding to go with PermaDontics but none of them knew enough about the dental implant procedure to make me feel confident in their ability to get the job done. PermaDontics did. I'm really happy to be getting my dental implants from the PermaDontics team!
