Dr. Colby is the owner of Periodontics Hawaii, which consists of a wonderful team of professionals. This dental team is fluent in Tagalog and Ilokano. They have an average of 10 years experience in the dental field.
Dr. Colby, a Board Certified Periodontist, recently opened a beautiful new state-of-the-art Periodontics practice in Hawaii Kai. In addition, he will continue to offer his surgical skills in Waipahu and Kailua-Kona on the Big Island.
Dr. Colby graduated dental school and completed his periodontics residency at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He has served active duty in the United States Army for almost 4 years and currently serves in the Hawaii Army National Guard. Dr. Colby enjoys teaching as an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii School of Dental Hygiene teaching classes in Periodontics and Local Anesthesia and Pain Control.
We are committed to a superior level of surgical care to each of our patients including treatment of advanced periodontal disease, replacement of teeth with dental implants, and difficult extractions including impacted 3rd molars.
In the Spring of 2019 I was able to teach in Tagalog to an elementary school in Manila. It was my plan to give oral hygiene instruction to small children in the Philippines. I was able to accomplish this by getting in touch with a teacher at an elementary school in manila. She was able to coordinate this event by scheduling an assembly of all the children K-4. In the Philippines oral hygiene is neglected and most children have a high decay rate and experience dental pain and suffering. During this assembly I was able to give a small lecture on how tooth decay occurs and had some of the children volunteer to come up and give answers. We would then award them with small donations given by people here in Honolulu. All the children were so grateful and I feel this is a very positive affect on these children and their families. After the assembly I was able to get all the teachers from this school and give them a 15 minute presentation of oral hygiene and asked them to teach their kids in their classroom. I hope to continue to give service to the Philippines in one way or another in many years to come. I want to thank all those that helped me make with event possible with a special thanks to my friend Jerome Cariaso for setting up this event.
In September of 2018 Dr. Colby had the privilege of collecting donations from different dental offices in Hawaii and dental rep companies like Patterson, Henry Schein, Colgate, and Proctor and Gamble and delivering these donations to an Orphanage in HoChiMinh, Vietnam. Most of these orphans had some type of physical or mental disability however there was a feeling of love, kindness and appreciation when we gave them these donations. At this service event we were also able to discuss the importance of proper oral hygiene to the children and their caretakers. Donations included toothbrushes, tooth paste, dental floss, and some snacks provided by the Pham family. I want to thank all those that helped make this service activity in Vietnam possible. I hope to do many more of these type of missions in the future.

Dr. Colby is caring, knowledgeable and very skilled. He explains all options for care in a very clear manner. I bring several members of my family to Periodontics Hawaii and would definitely recommend them to others.

Great place and everyone is extremely professional. The Office Coordinator, Jenn, is nice, very helpful and works to accommodate any schedule. Dr. Colby is honest about affordable treatment options and does a great job. In a time where most medical professionals always try to find something wrong, this office is different. Great view too. Choose this place if you're smart.

Dr.Colby was always accommodating and helpful when I went to his office. His front desk receptionist welcomed me in and set me up accordingly before seeing Dr.Colby. During my exam he walked me through the whole procedure making sure everything was as comfortable and relaxing as can be. Would definitely recommend Periodontics Hawaii to anyone and everyone!

Highly impressed, high recommendation. I had an intense gum issue that was extremely uncomfortable and scaring me. I didn't have a periodontist, so I called around to some who were recommended to me. I called Dr. Colby's office and spoke with Jenn who answered the phone. Though I had no prior contact with the office, she understood the urgency and found a way to get me in on the same day to see Dr. Colby. Dr. Colby strikes me as a very grounded, calm and thoughtful person. In his kind and caring demeanor, he clearly explained the problem, what he proposed doing and why. I asked a ton of questions which he answered with respect, candor and without hesitation. With my agreement, that same day he performed a procedure, explaining along the way what he was doing, and offering to show me what he was doing so I could better understand the situation. It was amazingly painless. I felt secure that I was in very good, competent hands. Afterward, Dr. Colby recapped what he did and found, discussed prognosis, next steps and care. I was sent home with very clear written instructions for the next three weeks covering how I could expect to feel, what activities I could and couldn't do, and what foods to eat. I also received some dental tools to simplify my home care and given follow up appointment. Several times into healing, new questions came to mind and either Jenn got me the answer or Dr. Colby called me very quickly. I'm so grateful. Feeling confident in Dr. Colby's oral care instructions, I didn't worry and just followed them. The healing seemed to proceed along well and with very little discomfort. Later, Dr. Colby gave me a thorough periodontal examination and knowledgeably explained his recommendations and options with topics ranging from ways to deep clean teeth, pros and cons of different implant materials, and dental equipment choices. Dr. Colby's office has good people who are super nice, kind, professional and reliable, and from both their words and conduct you truly get the feeling they care about you and your outcome. Jenn is both very personable and has great follow through. The office itself seems to have excellent awareness of cleanliness and health safety considerations, and the Hawaii Kai location has beautiful views of the bay. Parking is easy. Much gratitude. I hope your experience with Dr. Colby and his staff is as positive and successful as mine. Thank you Dr. Colby and Jenn!

I needed to get a wisdom extraction and a deep cleaning. Dr. Colby and staff were very friendly and quick to get me in. I had a traumatic experience with my last dental clinic years ago which kept me away from dentists. Dr. Colby and staff fixed my teeth which I honestly thought was beyond repair, but also gave me hope and the peace of mind knowing I have place I can trust to return for future dental work. Dr Colby and staff are awesome and I am highly satisfied and gained my confidence in my smile which I did not for the past few years!
