Prior to opening his Fairfax dental practice, Dr. J. Alexander Withers graduated from Woodson High School, The University of Virginia and was awarded a B.A. in Biology. After graduating from The Medical College of Virginia where he earned his D.D.S. degree, he entered a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. He completed his residency in Periodontics at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, receiving his certificate in Periodontics and an M.S. in Biomedical Sciences. He then completed his board examinations in Periodontics and became a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. After ten years active duty in the U.S. Air Force, and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he separated from the Air Force and opened his private Fairfax dental practice.
He is a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Virginia Dental Association, The American Dental Association, The American Academy of Periodontology, The Academy of Osseointegration, The Northern Virginia Dental Implant Society, and The Southern Academy of Periodontology.
Leslie has been practicing as a dental hygienist since 1988. After attending Rutgers University, she received her dental hygiene degree from Middlesex County College in NJ. Upon moving to northern Virginia, she joined Dr. Withers office in 2001. Leslies vast knowledge of periodontics is enhanced by taking continuing education courses and keeping abreast of the latest advances in periodontal therapy, as well as her post-graduate studies at East Tennessee State University. Leslies commitment to patient education is exceptional and greatly contributes to our patients overall dental health. Leslie has three children and enjoys cycling, yoga and papercrafts. We are truly fortunate to have Leslie as a member of our team!
Ana has been a dental assistant since 1997 and has been with our office since 2007. She is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of dental and surgical assisting. She works closely with Dr. Withers to ensure the comfort of our patients at all time. Because she is fluent in Spanish, she brings another dimension to our practice that is helpful to many patients. We are very fortunate to have Ana with us.
Our Patient Coordinator is Tracie Brittle. Tracie has been in the dental field since 1996 and takes pride in the care she gives to patients. As a valued member of our team, Tracie is in charge of patients visits from the first phone call through the completion of active treatment and beyond. Her ability to field questions concerning scheduling, finances and insurance is a most valuable part of our patient experience. We are very proud to have her on our team. Tracie is married with one daughter and enjoys cooking, gardening and working out at the gym.
Pam has been in the dental field for over 20 years and has been with Dr. Withers since 1997. In her current role of Implant Coordinator, she works closely with patients and their referring dentist to ensure that the implant process is seamless. Her knowledge of the implant process is exceptional. Pam also works with scheduling and the entire patient experience. She is indeed a valuable team member.
