Dr. Roger D. Craddocks lifelong interest in science and healthcare is what led him to pursue a career in dentistry. He attended Lipscomb University in Nashville for his undergraduate work, received his doctorate at West Virginia University School of Dentistry, and completed a prosthodontics residency at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
After eight years of practicing general dentistry and teaching in North Carolina, Dr. Craddock felt that the innovative procedures being developed in periodontics would provide a fresh, new challenge, and entered one more residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He joined Periodontal Associates of Memphis in 1993 when he completed his training.
Dr. Craddock is a past president and current member of the Memphis Dental Society and the Tennessee Society of Periodontists. He has also served as the Director in Intake and Treatment Planning at the Mid-South Mission of Mercy for the last two years.
He and his wife, Fran, have two daughters (who are also medical doctors) and three grandchildren. Dr. Craddock is active in his church and enjoys woodworking and flying his airplane to visit his grandchildren.
Dr. Miller introduced the concept of periodontal plastic surgery to periodontics. He was first to present the free soft tissue autograft (free gingival graft) as a predictable procedure for obtaining root coverage and introduced a new classification of recession to the literature. He also founded the Periodontal Plastic Surgery Study Club.
Dr. Miller has published 28 scientific papers, contributed to 4 textbooks, and has lectured to over 250 dental societies both nationally and internationally. In l989 he was a participant in the World Workshop in Periodontics and served as Secretary of the Section on Mucogingival Surgery at the World Workshop in l996.
In 1993 Dr. Miller was named the Outstanding Dental Alumnus of his alma mater, the Medical College of Virginia. In 1999 he received the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. In 2003 he was voted the Tennessee Dentist of the Year. In 2008 he received the Outstanding (Overall) Alumnus of the Medical College of Virginia and the Presidential Award from the Southern Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. James R. Ross is a co-founder of Periodontal Associates of Memphis. He attended Dental School at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and received a Masters Degree in Periodontology from Ohio State University.
Dr. Ross is certified by the American Board of Periodontology and was awarded the Fellowship Award of the Tennessee Dental Association. He is also a member of the Deans Society and OKU and has contributed several original articles and chapters in professional text books relating to Periodontology. Dr. Ross was one of the early practitioners of acceptable dental implants and has lectured extensively on the subject.
Dr. and Mrs. Ross have traveled extensively, visiting 102 countries and all seven continents. Retiring in 1999 to his farm, Richglen, Dr. Ross was elected to Leadership Collierville, his hometown. He has written two novels, The Last Reunion and The Snakes Hand.
After a traumatic accident at 14 left him with multiple injuries, including extensive broken bones and dental trauma, Dr. Godat knew he wanted to help heal people. With this in mind, he dedicated himself to the study and practice of periodontics and dental implants to help restore healthy smiles to patients.
He completed his undergraduate degrees at Oxford College and Emory University, and received his Dental Degree form the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, graduating with highest honors. He trained for three more years in a residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Masters and Specialty Degree in Periodontics and Dental Implants. He also has advanced training in IV Sedation to help patients stay comfortable. While in residency, Dr. Godat worked as a general dentist. This experience gives him a unique perspective and understanding of restorative dentists needs, particularly for implant dentistry and planning complex treatment. To keep up with latest advances in dentistry, he attends over 200 hours of continuing education every year.
He joined Periodontal Associates of Memphis in 2000. Together with his partners, they have placed over 29,000 dental implants. He is also the co-founder of the Mid-South Interdisciplinary Dento-Facial Study Club and Mid-South Spear Study Club. These organizations help coordinate treatment between a patients general dentist and dental specialists to give them the best treatment possible.
Dr. Godat has a variety of interests and activities outside of work. He participates in multiple local, national, and international study clubs. He lectures at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry as well as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He believes in giving back to the community and founded the Mid-South Mission of Mercy, which provides free dental care, works with the Church Health Center, and has been on numerous mission trips. With a lifelong interest in computers and new technologies, his passion has led Periodontal Associates of Memphis to have the most up-to-date equipment ensuring patients receive the best care possible.
Even though Drs. Godat and King are the only full-time practicing, Board-Certified Periodontists and Dental Implant Surgeons in the Mid-South, Dr. Godat still finds time to balance his home and work life. He has been married to his wife, Paige, for 26 years and has two daughters. They are members of Grace Evangelical Church and he attends a weekly bible study. You can also find him at Iron Tribe most days before he comes to the office.
Dr. King graduated with honors from Clemson University in 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Microbiology.He then went on to attend the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he received his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and MDS (Master of Dental Science), as well as specialty training in periodontics and implant dentistry. During his final year at UTHSC, he had the privilege of being appointed and serving as chief resident.

Dr. Godat and his staff are courteous and knowledgeable. He is highly skilled and well respected in his profession. He gives of his talents with charitable dental care. Dr. Godat successfully treated my husbands gum disease a few years ago. I highly recommend him for dental implants, too.

Kathy was very helpful in assisting me with my insurance claims. I had an issue with my insurance paying my bill with my health card and soon as she forwardwd me the papers/forms needed, my issue was resolved immediately. 4.5 All in all I had a good experience here. Dr. Godat was Awesome along with his staff. All of his team were very professional. There is on the other hand room for improvement. The arrive 20 min before scheduled appointment time is 20 additional minutes they make you wait (even for early a.m) I had average wait time of 1hr prior to being called back to be seen. Very pleased with my results for a gum graft. I was nervous having this done but they set me at ease and took great care of me. Thank You Dr. Godat and team!

I had not been to the dentist in a few years due to lack of insurance. When I finally went my regular dentist sent me to Periodontal Assoc. of Memphis stating they are the best of the best in treating gum disease and potential tooth loss. As you can imagine I was terrified that this was what I was facing. However, the folks here were so friendly, understanding and comforting thru the entire process. Dr. King immediately made out an elaborate plan to do EVERYTHING possible to save the my teeth, especially the ones that had movement (about 5 or 6 of them). It was a year long total process and on my last visit Dr. King was floored at the results! I actually had near zero movement in some of my teeth and the level of improvement and regeneration of my gums was "better than he could have ever dreamed!" Needless to say, I was in tears! I first give glory to God for many prayers went into this journey as well. But Dr. King really did assist God in what I feel like was a true miracle! Both my parents lost their teeth to gum disease and I am only 46 years old. Dr. King and staff understood my fears and pulled out all the stops (not teeth, little pun there) to keep my beautiful smile in tact. I can not say enough good things about these folks and Dr. King. What they did for me literally changed my life for the better and gave me peace that I caught the issue early enough, I will not have to suffer the same fate as my parents and go through the struggles that I watched them have growing up. Thank you Periodontal Associates of Memphis! I could/will hug you all again and again every time I come back!

I was very nervous when I started the process 3 months ago. However, I'm on the other side of the laser procedure, and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I am one who takes pride in taking care of my teeth but I was still experiencing lots of bleeding. Dr Godat and his team took great care of me through the entire process. Go see them if you are having any problems. He'll always be my periodontist!!

Dr King and his entire office and professional staff were awesome From day #1. I required a bone graft and sinus lift prior to placement of the abutment. Was a bit apprehensive about the surgical procedure but Dr King was "painless" and reassured me through the process of what to expect next. I chose light sedation for my surgical procedures. Didn't feel a thing. Would strongly recommend this practice. Thanks everyone.

Second transplant by Dr. Godat and team. Same excellent result as the first one 7 years ago. Also had wisdom teeth removed. Should have let him do that years ago as well. Minimum pain and discomfort.

Dr. Godat takes his craft seriously. We had a little hiccup as a result of my gums and he made sure to solve the issue before sending me on my way. I also valued how personal he was. 3-6 months would go by between visits but he made it seem like I just saw him yesterday. If you need a tooth implant, look no further. For such monetary and time investment, you ought to go to one of the best. Go to Dr. Godat!

I have been treating with Dr. King for a year now during this implant process and it has been the best experience I have ever had with Dental work. Today was my last visit and everything has been great since Day 1. I was nervous about the implant surgery but it was painless and I didn't even need to take the pain meds afterwards because it was tolerable. Dr. King even took the time to call and check up on me later that day after the surgery. Now that is A+ service and I have never had a doctor do that before! His team is amazing and they take the time to explain everything that is going to happen and next steps. I would highly recommend Periodontal Associates and especially Dr. King and his team! Thanks again for everything!

Dr. King and staff take really good care of their patients. I have been seeing him & his staff for little over a year and my overall gum health has improved so much thanks to their staff..also Kathy in billing has exceeded way beyond my expectations when it came to working with my dental insurance company. Kathy has been in touch with me every step of the way always working hard to ensure patients are billed and pay fairly. I cant think of anyone in a billing department at any company or office who has gone above and beyond like Kathy. Thanks for helping me navigate the craziness of dental insurance. With all that said I highly recommend Dr King and all the staff for both doctors.

Dr. Godat and his team were fantastic! I came in with some mysterious symptoms, and he provided a thorough exam and was not afraid to have me seek out a second opinion from another specialist before recommending surgery. He took his time and made sure all of my questions were answered. Although I hope to never have another periodontal crisis, I know exactly where I would go and who I would recommend to my family and friends. Thank you for the excellent patient care!

I can't say enough nice adjectives about Dr. Godat and his staff! They have been very professional, and top notch in all their treatment plans for my periodontal issues. Not only are they good at their jobs, but very caring people. During one visit when I was an emotional mess, they stopped and prayed with me in the chair.
