Most patients will not want a periodontist who immediately suggests asurgical intervention for gum disease. Dr. Gottesman always starts with the most conservative non-surgical treatmentthat is appropriate for the patients case. Nilda was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and dreamed of living in a New York City brownstone. As much as she enjoys having time off, she loves her co-workers and appreciates working for Dr. Gottesman. She relishes exploring the city with her daughter and reading period pieces from the Victorian Era. She aspires to make more time to cook for family and friends from the beautiful brownstone where she works.
Karleen is originally from Kingston, Jamaica where she practiced dental hygiene for three years before emigrating to New York in 1978. She joined our practice in 1988 under the leadership of Drs. Robert Gottsegen, Paul Tannenbaum and Susan Karabin. With over 35 years of experience, Karleen is known for her keen diagnostic eye. Shes very involved with her church, her high school alumni chapter in New York, and her family.
Julie graduated from the Hostos Community College Dental Hygiene Program in June 1995 with an internship from NYU. She joined our practice in 1998 under the leadership of Drs. Robert Gottsegen, Paul Tannenbaum, and Susan Karabin. Julie has over twenty years of experience providing precise, attentive, and effective dental care. Her hobbies include traveling, entertaining, and running.
Hailing from Queens, Karen recently joined our practice and fit in right away. As a hygienist with nearly 20 years of experience, Karen provides a comforting professional atmosphere for our patients. She loves cooking and dancing, but travelling abroad is closest to her heart. Shes also an avid runner.
Sonia was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City. A natural multitasker, she has over twenty years of experience in both surgical assistance and insurance billing. She likes working with her hands, including arts and crafts. Sonia is married with two sons and enjoys family gatherings.
Ania moved to the United States from Poland a few years ago and fell in love with New York City. She loves to spend time with her golden retriever, Cody. Due to her deep love of animals, she does not eat meat. Around the office, Ania is known for her quick work, attention to detail, and amiable demeanor.
Additionally, through his efforts in education, research and clinical experience, he was honored with Fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. In addition to his private practice in Manhattan, Dr. Gottesman lectures nationally and internationally on dental implants, bone grafting and periodontal plastic surgery techniques. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals on gingival grafting techniques for gum recession, techniques for the correction of gummy smiles, achieving success with implants in the aesthetic zone and bone grafting techniques for implants. He also consults for dental implant, tissue regeneration and pharmaceutical companies and is a principal investigator for clinical research conducted by leading dental implant companies.

Carolina Bermudez from the Z100 Elvis Duran and the Morning Show was sedated with nitrous oxide to have a tooth removed and the extraction socket grafted with a Straumann bone graft. After waiting four months for the grafted extraction site to mature, Dr. Edward Gottesman replaced the tooth with a BIOMET 3i dental implant.

I've seen Dr Gottesman regarding recession on my lower front teeth. I had this recession for a long time following my orthodontic treatment and had seen numerous periodontists since. I knew I had to have a gum graft but because my situation was extreme I wanted to find a very good and experienced periodontist. Dr Gottesman was recommended to me by my dentist in Brooklyn, whom I trust. I had a very positive impression after my first visit for consultation. Dr Gottesman was optimistic about the treatment and gave me very detailed explanations. I could feel that he really cares about his patients and I liked his personality. I had my gum graft procedure 2 weeks ago and it went very smoothly. I was very scared at first because I'm prone to fainting after long or painful procedures, but on the other hand, this situation with my gums remained untreated for years so I decided to go ahead. I'm very glad I made this decision. Dr Gottesman was sympathetic when I told him about my fear and put me at ease. I felt that I could trust him. The procedure was over within 2 hours and I didn't feel any pain and hardly any discomfort. I received my post op instructions and followed them during 2 weeks of recovery. I didn't feel any pain afterwards except a natural discomfort due to swelling, but it passed after 3 days. The healing took less time then I expected because after 1 week I felt completely fine. The results are amazing! My gum level went back to normal and the gums are thicker as well to prevent the recession. I wish I found Dr Gottesman sooner and I highly recommend him to anyone with similar health issues. Don't hesitate if you are scared of procedure like I was, you will be in good hands!

I've had 2 gum grafts performed by Dr. Gottesman. An upper about 3 years ago and more recently one on my lower gums. I could not be happier with both results. My gums are healthy and look amazing. Dr. Gottesman is an extremely gifted periodontist and I was so fortunate to fall into his capable hands. Thank you Dr. G. His office staff are also top notch - very competent and pleasant to deal with.

I have been treated by Dr. Gottesman for several extractions and implants over the past four years. Last month I came to his office, in great pain, with two cracked, abscessed teeth. He quickly assessed my condition, extracted the teeth, cleaned out the deep infection and grafted the area of bone loss. The procedure was done with minimal discomfort! As usual Dr. Gottesman's operating technique and hand skills were exceptional. The pain was gone and the recovery was swift. The treatment room faces a serene garden, which combines with his soothing, relaxing, and confident manner to create a zen like atmosphere. I truly believe Dr. Gottesman is the absolute best periodontist practicing today.

Dr. Gottesman and his entire practice are amazing. Dr. G took the time to carefully explain every detail to me and answer all of my questions, and the procedure went as smoothly as possible (with amazing results). He and his staff are all so nice, and I never had to wait more than 3 minutes for an appointment. I can't recommend him enough!!

I highly recommend Dr. Gottesman and his office. They are extremely professional and caring every step of the way. Dr. Gottesman & Dr. Chu were warm, knowledgeable, and receptive to my concerns. The staff, including Office Manager Melissa, worked to meet my needs as I worked within my dental care plan. Highly recommend. In addition (as an RN), I personally witnessed the staff of the office adhere to strick COVID-19 precautions. I felt safe during my multiple visits with Julie, and the other hygienists.

The Best Periodontist Ever... Dr. Gottesman has Hands like an angel he is such a great doctor. Also has great hygienist to keep you sharp and looking great! I've had dental surgeries in the past with other dentists which weren't the most pleasant experience and it took many years to feel comfortable to even consider doing it again. Dr. Gottesman has a very calm and reassuring demeanor so I knew I was in good hands. Everything was explained very clearly from start to finish and there was minimal pain. The results of my gum graft were better than I believed was possible. I like it here so much that I also see the hygienist here regularly for deep cleanings. Highly recommend.
