Dr. Aeschliman has been providing exceptional dental care at Perio Central since 2002. Created with a goal of compassionate, gentle dentistry, Perio Central is now known as the first choice for periodontal care and dental implantology.

Dr. Steve was born in Belgium and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 2. He grew up in the mountainous region outside Albuquerque, the first son of Dr. Daniel Aeschliman and Mrs. Wendy Aeschliman. He spent most of his childhood in the gymnasium, for which he received a gymnastics scholarship at the University of New Mexico. In addition to countless hours in the gym, he studied during off hours, and was honored to receive a full Academic Presidential Scholarship, as well as a partial music scholarship to play clarinet in the UNM symphony.
After receiving a BS degree in Biology and dual minors in chemistry and music performance, he attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he achieved his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1999. He was then accepted into the UMKC Periodontal residency, from which he received his Certificate in Periodontics in 2001.
He currently maintains a private practice in the specialty of Periodontics in Spokane, and has been an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Western Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, The ADA, and the WSDA. He has two children, a son Porter who is 11, and a daughter Sophia who is 9.
Dr. Steve has been published in the Journal of Periodontology, and teaches when possible for multiple groups and organizations. He was recently asked to be the Periodontist for a large study group in central Washington, for which he accepted, and presents for this group of colleagues about all aspects of periodontal treatment and its connection to systemic diseases. He was recently nominated and then acted as the head of continuing education for the Spokane District Dental Society.
Dr. Steve Aeschliman is committed to ongoing dental education. Continuing Education (CE) credits are required for maintaining licensure and staying current with new treatment therapies as well as existing skills, and he takes this responsibility very seriously. Dentistry is an ever-improving field of medicine, and the dental team at Perio Central is committed to providing exceptional dental care to their patients by continually learning and adapting to new information. He teaches other dentists, dental hygienists, and other groups on an ongoing basis.
Dr. Aeschliman has served on, and continues to be a reference for the Executive Committee of the Spokane District Dental Society (SDDS), and was the past head of continuing education for SDDS. He is actively involved in furthering the dental and medical education of dental professionals all around the inland Northwest. Dr. Aeschliman gives presentations to many different dental groups and organizations, and heads a study group for both dental hygienists and dentists in the area.

I have been going to Dr Aeschlimans office for at least 20 years - since he purchased the practice from Dr Harding. His periodontal treatments are extremely effective. His dental hygienist, Autumn, is fabulous - she has also been my hygienist for 20+ years. She is caring, gentle and shares her knowledge, I love that. The consistency, professional yet relaxed atmosphere of this clinic keeps me coming back. Plus Dr. Aeschliman I feel is the best periodontal specialist in Spokane!

The staff here is very caring and understanding. I have huge anxiety issues with my dental care and Kendra and Jane were absolutely amazing and extreme gentle. They educated me on better care at home and now my cleanings are a breeze. Im deeply grateful for their patience, kindness and taking great care of me!

I love Dr A and ALL the office staff,,,,they are always caring and compassionate and I really appreciate that I am shown the highest level of respect as a veteran, that is very important to me. Kendra my hygienist is the greatest I just love how good she makes me and my teeth feel. Dr A and his staff will teach you the tools you need to take care of your gums to. Lastly I am so very grateful for my gum grafts. I feel do good that they not only look great but 100% successful. It is very important for me to keep my own teeth as I grow older and now I will. Staff was super nice and caring. Made sure to explain what was going on and to happen. Even in an unsure moment of being able to save a tooth but did awesome. Didn't rush making sure was relaxed for procedure. Friendly in conversation to be calming and even share their own experiences. If something was t just right they fixed it.

I am so glad i finally got the gum grafting surgery i have needed for years and even more glad that these folks did it. Everyone at this office is friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They were happy to answer my many questions both before and after the procedure, and Dr. Steve kindly and patiently addressed all my concerns, even after hours. i highly recommend putting yourself in these people's hands. my surgery was a complete success and saved my teeth!

When I made the dreaded decision to get my gums fixed, all I could think about how painful it would be and all I would get for my troubles was a more secure pair of teeth. Didn't know if it really be worth it. But much to my surprise and pleasure, I had nearly zero pain. It was amazing. I highly recommend Dr Aeschliman for this type of care. I don't think you'll find a better Dr for gum grafting period.

The awesome Dr. Steven Aeschliman and his awesome and wonderful staff, made my procedure a walk in the park, after what I used to think as a frightening experience to go through. They make sure you are very comfortable and informed in every step of your personal situation. I put off my operation for ten years because I did not see them first. I had a consultation with a different provider in the beginning of my recession and never felt comfortable or relaxed, so I never went back. But a friend referred me to Dr. Aeschliman. So happy I followed through. I have no regrets and no fear to go back. If needed I will definitely go back. Highly recommend!! Actually there are not enough stars to give them.

In Network vs Out of Network? We all make a mistake that we always ask our doctor office that "do you accept my insurance, Right?". Many doctor offices are very honest and they will tell you more details about whether you will be in their network or out of network. NOT PERIO CENTRAL, they never tell you because they want you to get their services so they can bill you with a huge number later. Therefore, YOU NEEED TO READ VERY CAREFULLY INCLUDING ALL TINY PRINTS. Their prices are too high compared to others. For example, their comprehensive exam is 185 compared to Chas for only $80, and Apple dental for only $110. And they spend only 15 minutes compared to 30-45 minutes at many other locations. You need to know your budgets and quality of care that you will receive. I think that you should look for another locations where you can get a same service at reasonable costs. The business is really slow. You know- slow business- higher cost. They need to make money from you so they can cover their overheads. I am so happy that I was not getting any further dental works from this location- Thanks God. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET A HUGE BILL LATER BECAUSE YOU ARE OUT OF NETWORK. DO NOT BE A VICTIM...............

No one wants to have a gum graft... but if I have to do it again in the future I'll definitely choose Dr. Aeschliman and his team. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of surgery, minimal pain and my healing was seamless. The time taken to explain what to expect as well as how to care for my gums after surgery was much appreciated! Loved seeing the before and after pictures at my 6 week check. Well worth the drive to the north side.

I had my gingival graft completed a week ago, and just had my stitches removed, and although I have one more appointment to check healing I am already so pleased with Dr. Aeschliman and his staff. I had a lot of anxiety regarding this procedure as I had heard so many times that it was a very painful oral procedure. That was not the case. My surgery day was so easy, I was completely comfortable and relaxed the entire time, and the healing the first week was very manageable. I felt little to no pain, just some discomfort here and there. After my stitches were removed today I was so pleased when I looked and saw the amount of coverage there was to the roots of my teeth. Really great work. Big thank you to the Dr and his staff, as they made the procedure all in all so easy.

The office is clean, cozy and the staff employees are professional and welcoming. I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking to have work done! All the staff at Dr. Aeschliman's office are friendly, caring, and professional. Sufficient time was taken at my consultation to answer all my questions. The cost of the procedure (insurance and out of pocket) was very clearly lined out before procedure day. Scheduling was simple. The only suggestions I would make would be to give out the post op instructions for gum grafting prior to the day of surgery so preparations can be made (mindset, food shopping, etc). No one thinks very clearly after conscious sedation and I ate bread as my first meal, which proved quite difficult! Haha. Also make the instructions more a little more clear about the dressings, as I didn't know it was okay if they fell off because the instructions say nothing about the dressings. Thanks to everyone at Perio Central for a great experience and amazing outcome of gum grafting!

I had gum grafting done nearly a year ago and you'd never be able to tell where! Looks incredible. At my consultation as well as after my surgery, everyone was very helpful, informative, and professional. My one complaint is that when I was given the anesthetic, the lights were turned off and I was left in the room alone for about 20 minutes, and no one had told me what to expect to feel as the anesthetic took effect. That made me fairly anxious, but that was the only negative part of my experience. If I need more grafting in the future, I will definitely return to Dr. Aeschliman.

In December I went to have 3 gum grafts done. I was nervous about the procedure, but to my surprise it was pretty painless. Dr. Aeschliman and his staff were very professional and put me at ease. The worst part about it was figuring out what I could eat. During my follow-up I found out that he had some extra tissue left after completing my 3 grafts and did an additional graft for free!!!
