Dr. McKenzie completed her bachelors degree in Hospitality Management at FIU, and after a few years in the hospitality field, she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Midwestern University in Arizona. She completed an additional year of training in a General Practice residency at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, where she treated medically compromised patients.
Dr. McKenzies background in Hospitality Management gives her the exceptional ability to combine the artistry and precision of dentistry with a unique customer service perspective. She treats all her patients like family and makes sure that they are fully involved in customizing all aspects of their dental care.
Saliva, or spit, is made by the salivary glands and is very important for a healthy mouth. It moistens and breaks down food, washes away food particles from the teeth and gums, and helps people with swallowing. In addition, saliva contains minerals such as calcium and phosphate that help keep teeth strong and fight tooth decay.
Dry mouth, also called xerostomia (ZEER-oh-STOH-mee-ah), is the condition of not having enough saliva to keep the mouth wet. Dry mouth can happen to anyone occasionallyfor example, when nervous or stressed. However, when dry mouth persists, it can make chewing, swallowing, and even talking difficult. Dry mouth also increases the risk for tooth decay or fungal infections in the mouth because saliva helps keep harmful germs in check.
Depending on the cause of your dry mouth, your health care provider can recommend appropriate treatment. For example, if medication is causing dry mouth, the doctor or dentist may advise changing medications or adjusting the dosages, or may prescribe a saliva substitute.
There are also self-care steps you can take to help ease dry mouth, such as drinking plenty of water, chewing sugarless gum, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol. Good oral care at home and regular dental check-ups will help keep your mouth healthy.

I am editing my rating due to changes in management that exhibit poor customer service. I was asked multiple times to change my scheduled appt time (an appt time that was scheduled 6 months ago) because "the doctor doesn't want to stay that late." When I stated I couldn't, I was met with an attitude and then hung up on. I have cancelled myself and my family as patients of PDS. The practice was sold and Dr. McKenzie is no longer providing the care and it's obvious by the lack of regard for the patient experience. Previous Review: Dr. McKenzie and the team at PDS are wonderful! There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk through the front door. Professionalism is maintained on every level. I was told by a previous dentist that one of my teeth could not be saved and would need to extracted. Dr. McKenzie reassured me that she would try multiple options before extracting a tooth. She successfully used her art and expertise and saved my tooth. I honestly can't thank her enough. I'm so glad I found PDS! Highly recommend!! It's 6 stars for me!

I don't tend to write reviews, but I felt this was needed as it could help someone else save the time. I set two appointments with Perfection Dental Spa and twice they rescheduled the appointment after I requested PTO both times. After the first canceled appointment I made the scheduler aware that I would need to request time off again and today my second appointment was cancelled. I see a complete lack of professionalism and care for other peoples time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Hope this helps someone save the time I lost.

I have been coming here for years and I love it. Dr. Mackenzie is amazing and she is so friendly. Her bed-side manners are superb and when you come here you feel like family. I've never had an issue with professionalism from anyone in the staff here. Everyone is friendly and patient. I couldn't recommend them more.

When you go to this place it is a wow because everything is clean and everyone is very friendly. But they lie they are great liars. First they tell you that they accept your insurance. And before each visit I ask them how much I have to pay and they say a cost that I pay or they assure me that the insurance will pay for it. And after several months and visits. Surprise!!!! You owe an amount of money that because the insurance did not cover. And many patients that I sent them

Everybody in this office works together, and efficiently. From the front desk staff to the dentist, everyone is so kind and wants to help you, especially with special circumstances like mine. You're not treated like a number, it really does feel like a "spa"! A little kindness and considerateness really goes a long way in a patients shoes, especially at a dentists office. This office has to be hands down the best dental office ever! Amazing service from the front desk receptionist, Carly to the beautiful location itself. Definitely hands the best service ever from a dental office. You walk in to the beautiful location to an area, check area to a massage chair in the back while you wait for the assistant to come get you after, assistant walks out and the doctor herself explains everything step by step from xrays and goes over everything with you. After the cleaning or work you're getting they give you a towel that has lavender scent and have you relax. Definitely a nice touch. Excellent service! Thank you!!!
