A board-certified dental implant surgeon and periodontist, Philip L. Fava II, DMD, MDSc is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Fava has a passion for patient-centered and state-of-the-art periodontal and implant therapy that is evident in all that he does. Dr. Fava specializes in esthetic implant placement, oral plastic surgery, and laser-assisted LANAP and LAPIP gum disease treatment. He is also one of a handful of area periodontal specialists to be certified in the minimally invasive Chao Pinhole treatment for gum rejuvenation, for which Dr. Fava personally trained with Dr. John Chao.
Dr. Fava earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in Philadelphia from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (UPenn) and completed his specialty residency in Periodontics and Masters in Dental Science (MDSc) at the University of Connecticut (UConn). He serves as a peer instructor in the pre-doctoral program at UPenn and has contributed his talents as clinical instructor at UConn, bringing an enthusiasm for learning to each person he meets.
Dr. Fava is a Fellow of the prestigious International Team for Implantology (ITI) and a member of the American Dental Association. In 2015, he was elected President of the Eastern Dental Society, the regions largest and oldest dental society.
Dr. Robert A. Levine is an internationally acclaimed dental implant surgeon and board-certified periodontist as well as one of the pioneers of the immediate load (SameDay Smile) revolution in dental implants. He founded the Pennsylvania Center for Dental Implants and Periodontics in Philadelphia in 1981. He is presently a Clinical Professor in Post-Graduate Periodontics and Dental Implantology at the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry,a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. He is Chairman Emeritus, Division of Periodontics, at Albert Einstein Medical Center (1984-2003).
Dr. Levine is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Fellow of the College of Physicians in Philadelphia (FCPP), President and Fellow of the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons (FISPPS), and a Fellow and a Board of Director of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO). Additionally, he is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) of Basel, Switzerland and was one of 100 representatives from around the world invited to participate in the ITI 4th Consensus Conference (Bern, Switzerland, 2013), the ITI 5th Consensus Conference (Stuttgart, Germany, 2008), the 6th ITI Conference (Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2018) and the 7th ITI Consensus Conferences in Lisbon (2023) to establish treatment protocols for implant dentistry worldwide.
He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally, serves on the editorial boards of numerous international scientific dental journals and has authored close to 90 articles and five book chapters on periodontics, periodontal and regenerative surgical procedures, oral plastic surgery, dental implants and LANAP periodontal therapy.
He is Founder and Co-Director of the Philadelphia Tri-State ITI Study Club. Additionally, Dr. Levine shares his knowledge and 37 years of clinical experience with periodontal, prosthodontic and general practice residencies throughout the United States and abroad as a visiting professor and mentor.
Dr. Levine presently leads a clinical research team from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and Dr. Mauricio Araujo from University of Maringa, Brazil on a series of retrospective studies on immediate implant placement in the maxillary central incisor region from cases treated in private practice with a series of clinical research studies which have been published in high impact dental implant journals that have given the dentist a check-list in the avoidance of dental implant complications which has been coined in the dental literature, The 10 Keys Concept.
Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, board certified dental implant surgeon and periodontist Dr. Eric Schoenebeck practices at the Pennsylvania Center for Dental Implants and Periodontics Ambler location. A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics, Dr. Eric, as he is often called, believes that good communication, coordination and teamwork between patients, our practice and referring doctors can ensure the very best treatment outcomes.
Dr. Schoenebeck specializes in advanced dental implant procedures, gum and bone grafting techniques and regenerative periodontal disease treatments. He, along with his colleagues Drs. Philip L. Fava II and Robert A. Levine at the Pennsylvania Center for Dental Implants and Periodontics, brings cutting edge technology to patients including teeth in one day concepts and high-end dental implant treatments to replace one or more missing teeth.
Dr. Schoenebeck earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Penn State University and graduated dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his periodontics residency and earned a Master of Science at the University of Florida.
Before recently retiring from the United States Navy, during which time he practiced periodontics, he served 23 years of combined active and reserve duty, stationed at bases in New Jersey, North Carolina, California, Florida and Keflavik, Iceland.
Dr. Schoenebeck is married with three very active children and two crazy dogs and is a self-described avid Nittany Lion, (Florida) Gator and Philadelphia sports teams fan. When not perfecting his patients smiles and improving their oral health, he also finds time for swimming, hiking, camping, cooking, traveling and supporting his childrens sports teams.

Wow, what a great experience. Excellent, caring staff and super skilled doctors. I had a less than ideal situation for an implant and I didn't have confidence in the first surgeon I saw but Dr. Fava knew just what to do and I'm thrilled to have beautiful, fully functional teeth again.

I got a gingivectomy done here and it was absolutely amazing. I went in for my consultation because my gums were droopy and covering at least 3cm of my teeth. Dr. Schoenebeck walked me through what would happen and they got me in for my procedure within two weeks. On the day of the procedure everything was clean and ready to go and Dr. Schoenebeck talked me through the whole thing step by step so I didn't get caught off guard or scared. The procedure took about 1.5 to 2 hours but totally worth it! After I was done he even gave me a call later that evening to make sure I was okay and was handling the pain okay. It took about 1-2 weeks to fully heal but I could eat after a few days. Totally worth it and would recommend anyone here for any type of periodontal work. I'll be back if I need anything done! Thanks to this team for making my smile the best it could be!

Butler Pike Periodontal Associates is conveniently located on in central Ambler. Just one note about parking: There is a parking lot directly behind the office, but you must enter from the back, via Poplar St, which is one-way SW-NE. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Nitrous oxide is available for patients (like me) who suffer from anxiety (in this case, dental phobia)... From the moment you meet Dr. Eric Schoenebeck, you immediately feel the presence of consummate professional who [justifiably] exudes confidence and competence. I needed, and still need, significant dental work. and will definitely return. I will update this review as my treatment tggprogresses over the next several months. Even though they don't take my insurance, they generously submit the invoice to my h company and it [Cigna] may reimburse me to some degree (at probably 10C/ on the Dollar). Still, they are a business and I dayment in full is due [for services provided and any past balance] on the day of service for patients without insurance or whose insurance is not accepted. If you are looking for a periodontist in lower Montgomery County, you could easily do worse than Dr. Schoenebeck.

I hesitate to speak for everyone on the planet, but I feel pretty confident when I say "no one looks forward to periodontal surgery." But I can tell you that Dr. Fava, his assistant(s), and staff made my experience INCREDIBLE! I was welcomed at the office with a friendly and professional reception. I was checked for any symptoms related to the corona virus. I asked that he keep me informed about what to expect throughout my time in the chair, and he did. I experienced ZERO pain throughout the procedure, and ZERO pain in the days following. I called the office to get some minor clarification on home care and got an IMMEDIATE response. I recommend this practice absolutely to anyone who has to deal periodontal issues. They are fantastic!

Replacing Dr G is a impossible task the decision to keep the staff was a excellent idea the professionalism remains the glue that holds it all together going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do but they a least make it as pleasant as possible

I arrived at Butler Pike Periodontal Associates with significant discomfort due to a fracture tooth. Upon arrival I was greeted in a very cordial and welcoming manner by a number of front office staff members. They made me feel that I was their number one priority. In short time a member of the medical support team greeted me and escorted me to the dental chair and focused on my medical issue. Again, very welcoming and supportive to me. Upon arrival, Dr. Schoenebeck greeted me in a very engaging manner and assured me that he would assist in providing resolution to my discomfort. Throughout the extensive procedure, Dr. Schoenbeck provide insights, encouragement and support. Dr. Schoenebeck described in detail future efforts for a dental implant. He could not have been more supportive. Butler Pike Periodontal Associates is a first class medical team and facility that delivers high quality service from the first phone call through problem resolution.
