Dr. Penelope Chang earned her undergraduate degree from Barnard College in 1990 and her DDS from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) in 1996. She graduated with multiple honors including induction into the honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Psi Omega Achievement Award, Law and Ethics Award and Divisional Excellence in Operative Dentistry. For the next five years, she maintained a private practice with her father in New York City as well as devoting time as an Instructor of Clinical Dentistry at CDM. In 2003, she opened her own practice in Tenafly, NJ to be closer to home.
In 2008, Dr. Chang established the Henry Chang Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at Columbia CDM in memory of her father. Each year this endowed scholarship awards an entering 4th year dental student who demonstrates clinical excellence.
Pursuing the latest dental techniques and staying active in the community is important to Dr. Chang.The attention and care that each patient receives is a result of her dedication to keeping up with state-ofthe-art technologies and advanced dentistry techniques.
Dr. Chang is a leader in CAD/CAM dentistry, fabricating all porcelain crowns and fillings in one visit. She is a CDOCS mentor/visiting faculty and frequently travels to the Spear Center in Scottsdale, Arizona and the Dentsply Sirona Center in Charlotte, North Carolina to both learn and educate other dentists about CEREC digital technology.
Life, stress, accidents, agethey all take their toll on teeth. Research has shown that almost everybody has a 95% chance of experiencing some tooth decay. When tooth decay does occur, it is highly important to remove the decay, clean the tooth and repair the tooth with some type of restoration. Additionally, lost or missing teeth need to be replaced to protect your overall oral health. Furthermore, appropriate timing can mean the difference between eliminating a small concern, or facing a chronic, serious condition. In fact, oral health problems can lead to a whole host of other general health issues if not treated in a timely manner: including heart disease, stroke, diabetes complications, respiratory trouble, and problem pregnancies. Thats why were so vigilant during our exams. We carefully evaluate your entire mouth, identify problems while theyre small, and then educate you about what we see, as well as possible treatment strategies.

I have been a patient of Dr Chang's for the last couple of years. She is an outstanding dentist, runs a top of the line practice that uses the latest in dental tech: CEREC machine - digital scanner to make make porcelain crowns while you wait (no more play-doh for dental imprints and multiple visits, the main reason why I joined in the first place) and SOLEA Laser instead of the infamous dental drill. Above all the practice is super safe, very tight Covid measures, great patient care and no wait time.

Dr. Chang's work is exceptional. She corrected a long standing dental issue in one day. She has the latest technology and makes everything look and feel so natural. I am so glad I have Dr. Chang as my dentist. She took away all my fears and anxiety and I look forward to going to my appointments. Dr.Chang has great office staff who also make it a great experience. In short, they really care. Dr. Chang, thank you for being you!!

I highly recommend Dr Chang. She has been my dentist for a number of years. She is the best dentist I have ever had. Her computerized equipment is the most up to date in the industry. She is not only highly knowledgeable, but has a way of making patients feel comfortable.

I had a broken tooth with a filling fixed using Dr. Chang's new laser. I didn't need any numbing agent and it was the fastest and most painless filling I've ever had done. On a different note, Dr. Chang and her staff are all wonderful individuals. If you find yourself in her chair, you're in good hands. Thanks so much Dr. Chang!

Was hopeful this dentist would work out! However when I moved out of the area it became clear I was not a local priority. I would drive 3 hours to see Dr Chang but felt more and more uncomfortable. The visit was quick and not thorough. Sad but will not be returning to this practice!
