In a pediatric dental office, our specialist and staff are specifically trained to work with infants, children, adolescents, and those with special health care needs. After attaining a traditional dental degree, a Pediatric Dentist then completes 2-3 years of additional training. Upon completion of this specialty training, the Pediatric Specialist limits his/her practice to treating only children. Whether your children have anxiety or face developmental or medical challenges; whether its their first visit, or they are a seasoned pro, our goal is to create the most pleasurable experience as possible. Combined with our use of specialized treatment techniques, our team and our kid-friendly office- complete with arcade games, iPads, movies, in ceiling televisions, and prizes- allow children to relax and feel at ease during their visit.

The health and care of primary or baby teeth is important for many reasons. Despite the fact they will eventually fall out, the neglect of these teeth can lead to many other health issues in a child. Cavities found and left untreated in baby teeth often pave the way for developmental problems in the permanent or adult teeth and also lead to a higher rate of cavities in those adult teeth. Baby teeth help affect the development of speech, aid in chewing and the initial stages of digestion, provide a proper spacing guide for the eruption and alignment of permanent teeth, and help with the development of the upper and lower jaw bones ultimately affecting facial esthetics. Although the front baby teeth start to fall out in children between ages 6-7, sometimes the back chewing teeth are not lost until the age of 13!

Board Certification is a voluntary process and is different from basic dental licensure. Obtaining a dental license sets the minimum competency requirement to diagnose and treat patients and is not specialty specific. Board Certification demonstrates a physicians exceptional expertise in a particular specialty and/or subspecialty of dental practice. Board Certification involves a rigorous process of testing and evaluation that challenges physicians to focus on the continuous development of their skill set. Patients, physicians, health care providers, insurers, and quality organizations look for these markers as the best measure of a dentists knowledge, experience, and skills to provide quality health care.

Nitrous Oxide, often called laughing gas, is a mixture of two gases, nitrous oxide and oxygen. These very same gases can be found in the air we breathe every day, but in a different combination of course. Nitrous oxide does not put your child to sleep, but is a safe and effective technique to reduce anxiety, and enhance effective communication between your child and the dentist. The benefit to using nitrous oxide is that it is administered in as little as 2-5 minutes through regular breathing while your child remains fully awake and is eliminated from the body just as quickly once discontinued.

General Anesthesia, often referred to as being put to sleep or sleep dentistry, is a medical procedure that renders your child completely asleep in a pain-free environment, allowing for the safe provision of dental diagnostics and treatment. Treatment is completed in a hospital or surgical center setting and conducted as outpatient surgery, meaning that the patient is usually able to go home a few hours after the procedure is finished. Dental treatment under general anesthesia is an effective way to provide care to apprehensive children, children too young to be able to sit in the dental chair for treatment, and children or adolescents with special health care needs.

Two of my daughters had extensive work done there and they never complained. The staff are amazing, kind, and are great with kids! We were referred to Pediatric Dentistry of Reading from our family dentist, and now the girls found a new home for dental work. They actually look forward to going!! I would recommend this place to everybody!!

If you have a mask requirement you should probably tell someone when they make the appointment. Many people will not put a mask on a toddler, for obvious reasons.

My experience with these people was horrible! So my son had several teeth that needed treatment. They suggested anesthesia to fix all teeth at once, but since the boy had gone under anesthesia twice in his first 18 months, we wanted to avoid it at any cost and do the treatment on teeth in several sessions. And this was the beginning of the office's problems with us I believe! So they tried to make us understand they do not want us there, in their own horrible way! We would call to set appointments and they would hang the phone up on us and not call back; once they cancelled our appointment without even letting us know, and several other circumstances which make me feel bad to remind of. I believe the way Dr. Beth and her crew treat patients is quite improper. They need to understand concerns of parents and treat everyone with dignity.

I can't praise this office enough! From the clean and modern facilities, to the welcoming and kind staff. I feel blessed to have taken my children to this office. My autistic children can be a challenge in uncomfortable and new situations. Everyone that works there is patient, kind and extremely positive when working with each of them. Thank you to Dr. Gratson and the whole staff for being amazing people and having a wonderfully positive impact in my kids' lives.

First time there with my four-year-old son, friendly staff, Beth was great and my son was very timid on going but won't stop talking after we left. I felt welcomed for a first visit and just a total great atmosphere.

My daughter is 6 years old and autistic. She had an awful mouth and since they did not take state insurance it would've taken me awhile to pay it out of pocket hence why I waited and played with this situation. My daughter started having real trouble and they saw me and were very decent to me and prescribed an antibiotic for her. They scheduled her surgery for Feb. The next week my daughters mouth swelled up to the size of an apple. The antibiotics, although I skipped one dose were not working. I called them and I was asked to send a picture, I did and I received a call back to watch my daughter and I quote "no one child is more important than any other child" so we cannot move her surgery or change anything at this moment. If something comes up sooner then we will let you know. I was unsatisfied with this answer and saw another dentist in the area and he was unhelpful as well. Sent me to the ER. I will tell you that I did not have a good experience with anyone in this area. I had to go out of this area to find the help she needed and a medication that would work. I WILL NEVER take my daughter back to this center as they do not care about your child or maybe just my child as she is special needs.

Just took my 15 month old there and of course he screamed the whole time but they were so nice and gentle. They don't accept his insurance which is honestly okay because they were awesome so I don't mind paying out of pocket it's worth it !! Highly recommend for people with young ones

Dr. Beth and her staff amaze me every time I visit. My four year old has never been easy at these appointments and it can be incredibly stressful. Everyone we have encountered has been so helpful and patient. They always take great care of us.

Very nice place; super clean, organized, very nice staff. Dr. Beth is really gently and took her time with my kids. My only concern is the front desk/manager, she is special. But over all, I really recommend this office...
