Dr. David Treff (Dr. Dave) is a Board Certified Pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience treating children, adolescents, and those with special needs. He has seven plus years of experience in an operating room setting prior to completing dental school at New York University College of Dentistry.
While at NYUCD he participated in Honors Special Patient Care and Pediatric Dentistry. He was selected to participate in dental care abroad through NYUCD global outreach program to Songea, Tanzania and Copan, Honduras.
He completed his specialty training earning a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Here he continued to participate with NYUCD global outreach program traveling to villages in the Artic Circle, Alaska.
Dr. Dave continues as guest facility member with NYUCD providing care in Kathmandu, Nepal for non-profit organizations Seven Summits and the Tibet Fund. He has also traveled to Kopila, Nepal to treat children for the non-profit organization BlinkNow.
Dr. Dave also volunteers on the Craniofacial Team at INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he maintains credentials to provide care while patients receive general anesthesia. He has been faculty at University of Maryland at Kernan Hospital and former member of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentists.
Currently, Dr. Dave is member of Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Northern Virginia Dental Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatricians.
Dr. David Treff has spent many years acquiring the knowledge and training necessary to assure that your child will receive superb, quality restorative and preventive dentistry. Dr. Treffs extensive education combined with the most advanced high tech equipment have him recognized as a leading pediatric dentist in Burke and the surrounding communities. He thrives on the challenge of changing the outlook of infants, children and teens from apprehension to one of confidence.
Dr. David Treffs journey to Pediatric Dentistry of Burke began with the study of medicine and surgery, and upon completion of his undergraduate degree and certificate studies, Dr. Treff assisted surgeons at regional hospitals in Western Washington and the Puget Sound.
Dr. David Treff completed his predoctoral dental education at NYUCD. During his time at NYUCD, Dr. Treff participated in Honors Special Patient Care and Pediatric Dentistry, and he was twice privileged to represent his university and travel abroad to provide dental care to underserved children in Songea, Tanzania and Copan, Honduras.
For his postdoctoral education, Dr. Treff studied at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center where he became a certified pediatric dentist. In addition to his studies, he was again privilegedto represent his program and provide dental care to communities in Fort Yukon and Venetie, Alaska.
In addition to his education, Dr. Treff spent countless hours in residency and private practice, which allowed him to enhance his skills, especially when it comes to providing oral conscious sedation. All of his education and training has prepared him to provide exceptional care to all of his patients and Dr. Treff is passionate about providing care to patients with special health care needs.
Dr. Treff is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of several distinguished organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists and the American Academy of Pediatricians.
When Dr. Treff is out of the office, he uses his experience and knowledge to help others. He currently serves as guest faculty at New York University College of Dentistrys (NYUCD) Global Outreach Program, and as a volunteer member of the INOVA Cleft Lip and Palate team where he also maintains hospital credentials.
Dr. Treff is married to Dr. Christine Karapetian, and they are proud parents of Sosi and Masis Treff. Dr. Treff has a passion for all things LEGO. In his spare time, Dr. Treff enjoys cooking, studying BJJ, and following the Bayou Bengals (LSU) football program. Geaux Tigers!!!

Nothing but positives about Dr. Dave and his staff! We had a scheduled appointment for a tooth extraction for one child, but had an emergency arise for our younger child, and Dr. Dave's office was able to accommodate us at the very last minute. This kind of accessibility is the epitome of personal touch and compassion in patient care, especially on a Friday. Dr. Dave and his staff explained the procedures and the diagnosis in a clear manner, and put our minds at ease regarding post-extraction maintenance for my older child and the path forward for my younger child. Dr. Dave and his staff are the best!

Dr. Trell and his staff are absolutely wonderful. My daughter loves going and we always have a positive experience. Additionally, Dr. Trell went out of his way to help me start the process of a sleep apnea diagnosis on a family member. He went above and beyond and we remain very grateful!

I can't say that this dentist doesn't know his stuff, but the man just rubbed me the wrong way too many times. One time I complained to the office manager, and she gave me a Starbucks gift card, and asked if that would make me feel better, which makes me think that he has rubbed other people the wrong way too. I realized that there are so many dentists in the area that I might as well take my kids somewhere else, so I did.

Welcoming office, child friendly. Appointment made within the timeframe I needed and easy process to fill out forms and accept major insurance. My two year old had a really positive first dental experience. She left proud with her little goody bag full of surprises. I'm thankful to the Dentist and incredible staff for providing a foundation to build on. Their experience with handling unpredictable toddlers and adjusting to their needs/wants was exceptional. My concerns were addressed and the Dentists' advice/observations were well communicated. I didn't feel the need to overly advocate for my child as they took it upon themselves to be extra thorough. We look forward to future visits. Definitely an office I will be recommending to my friends!

They have a great team there. We take both of our kids here since they sprouted little baby teeth. They are patient with their little patients as they pull out all the stops to make the kids as comfortable as possible. Doc gave me his cell phone to get advice if we end up with a tooth emergency and aren't sure if we need to go to the ER.

Great dental assistances, the reason for the three stars. The dentist was rude and harsh with my daughter and I. Not a place to go if your child is on the autistic spectrum.

Dr. David Treff ..... I will start by saying I'm the luckiest mother to have him as my kids Dentist. Prior to him I had my life's worst experience with with the most horrible one. I was in depression because how my kids, specially my 3 years old toddler was being treated horribly & was yelled at, not only my kids I was treated with so much disrespect. We are so lucky to found Dr. Treff toke care of my son like an angle. My baby didn't even cry for his X-rays a bit. My baby was so scared at this other place that he actually called that lady that she is a monster please mama I don't want to go to her. I must say the whole team at Pediatric Dentistry of Burke are simply amazing. They are so friendly and understanding. The whole place is so cool and comfortable.I recommend everyone to go there without any doubt. I must say Dr. Treff is really a God send blessing for all the kids. If I had a choice I would give them extra STARS for being so amazing.I have nothing but only good words for them & countless prayers. I can't thank them enough for all the care & honest effort they put in to help my son.

This practice is wonderful! I cannot say enough good things. My 9-year-old daughter has been going to them for about 5 years now, and we just took our 4-year-old in for his first checkup. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Victoria, the hygienist that did his cleaning, was AMAZING! She explained and showed him each thing she was going to do, she was patient when he wanted to keep talking, she was very friendly, and she made him feel at ease. She even made it fun for him! Dr. Treff is friendly and fun, as well! He loves kids, and he provides great information and recommendations to the parents. Thank you Dr. Dave and thank you Victoria for making my baby boy's first dentist experience great, and of course, for always taking such good care of my baby girl, too!

My 13 year old had to get his baby tooth removed. It was his first time getting a tooth removed. The dentist was so good with him. He explained everything he was going to be doing before hand. It put my son at ease. The total procedure took 15 minutes. I told my son he's lucky!

Dr. Treff is hands down the best pediatric dentist! He was quick, efficient, and most importantly great with my son which was HUGE considering that he initially was very nervous however that went right out the window once Dr. Treff introduced himself as well explained what it was he was going to do and he did it in a way that was easy for him to understand. My son also found him to be funny which is a bonus for us all. The staff was also very welcoming and his assistants were very comforting!! I highly recommend him for anyone's child :)

Dr. Treff is one of a kind. He is incredible with kids. I have a 15 year old daughter and my dentist sent us to Dr. Treff when she was a toddler. My dentist takes his own kids to Dr. Treff. He is very silly with the kids and they seem to respond very well to that. He doesn't talk about anything scary in front of the kids. His staff is all very friendly also. I highly recommend Dr. Treff!

Today when I arrived at this dentist's office and we were walking in the door, my 4th grader said, "I love this place." So I thought: I probably should write a review. I rely on them so much myself, and both of my kids love it here. I have been bringing my daughters to Dr. Treff for three years now, driving about an hour to get to him, but he is worth it. He is AWESOME. He is compassionate and kind - it is clear that his priority is taking care of children. The first time I came to his office (after many hours researching and choosing him) my daughter was supposed to get some expensive work done, and Dr. Treff actually said that a different (less expensive) procedure would better serve her needs and age. That is one of the reasons I understood that he is not in it for the money, he wanted what was best for my child. He did an amazing job, the work was perfect, and I think I was the only one that was stressed (my daughter wasn't) and at a certain point (while he was working on her tooth) he told her, "You are doing great, your mom is so proud of you, she has a big smile on her face (I didn't LOL because I am a stress mess, but I really appreciated that he was trying to put my baby at ease, and she WAS put at ease, because she looks forward to coming here.) My youngest daughter just recently had to have two teeth pulled - she grew a second line of teeth like a shark and the baby ones weren't going anywhere. My younger daughter panics about even getting her throat swabbed for strep so I was sure this was going to be an ordeal - BUT IT WASN'T!!! Dr. Treff and his staff are so calming (he is funny) and reassuring. She was totally fine. It was already over, and she said, "When are you going to do it?" It was great!!!! :) After a week the new teeth moved forward right into the empty spot where they were supposed to be and we were delighted. The office is beautiful, new, decorated for a kid, with even video games and a little home theater area in the waiting room. I have always found it super clean, even the bathrooms. The hygienists are super sweet and friendly, and the office staff has always been really upfront about my costs, making sure I know exactly how much I will be responsible out of pocket BEFORE the visit, which I really appreciate. I wish he also treated parents, our whole family would be in here :)

We had been to another dental office where at the time my daughter was 4 and was man handled at her appt by the hygienist and given "to the count of 3, or mommy and daddy had to leave the room", this caused us to be extremely upset to never come back. This is how we ended up finding such a wonder practice that really dedicates their time and patience with the little ones. When my kids know that they have an appointment they share it with everyone.... i have been told by their teachers that they have never met kids that look forward to going to the dentist. I thank Doctor David and all the staff for the pleasant and welcoming feeling to the office. The kids love coming to see you guys and as well look forward to the treasure hunt afterwards. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming to this office so that they can take great care of your little ones. Thanks guys for all that you do. Jeniffer P.
