Pediatric Dentistry & Family Orthodontics - Pediatric dentist in Fayetteville, NY

Orthodontics is one of the best professions in the world. It was an easy choice for me to move into the dental field, and I have loved every day since becoming a specialist in orthodontics in 2002. I believe that my work can make patients feel better about themselves. It can influence good facial development for my younger patients and improve smile aesthetics and oral health for all patients.

As a pediatric dentist Dr. Michael Quigley has a unique opportunity to impact the lives of children. Dental phobias typically manifest early in life and are usually the result of a difficult/traumatic experience in the dental chair. The work done by Dr. Quigley influences the childs perception of the dentist for years to come and can be a huge determining factor in whether that person will seek dental care as an adult.

As a pediatric dentist it is always a great feeling to be able to care for a young apprehensive patient and make the experience fun and exciting to help build self-esteem and alleviate fears. Its a privilege to be able to work with children every day and see the world through their eyes. They help to keep me humble and young at heart!

To say that pediatric dentistry is my dream job would be an understatement. While it has its ups and downs like any other career, the best way to describe my job is like a tightrope walker trying to stay balanced on a wire hundreds of feet in the sky. The tightrope walkers primary job is to move forward without falling off left or right. Similarly, my job is to manage a childs behavior while using specialized dental instruments and to do so effectively, quickly, and most importantly, safely.

Being a pediatric dentist has been a joy in my life. During my dental training, I quickly found it to be the most rewarding and fun field in dentistry. I value every patient as if they are my own and I treat them with patience, kindness and compassion. I am grateful to have the opportunity and expertise to serve the community through this career.

Our team members are tuned into making even the most apprehensive patients more comfortable in the chair. Our hygienists, assistants, and business staff go the extra mile and soothe even the most apprehensive patients. When needed, they can be found holding a patient's hand, using child friendly wording in a soothing tone, and they take the time to inform each patient of what to expect before a procedure to put their mind at ease.

As the Administrative manager my goal is to help the team from everyday tasks, unexpected situations, and everything in-between. I have been working in the dental field for 12 years in multiple aspects of the office operations and hope to use my experience to help the practice grow, be efficient and to promote a family oriented atmosphere. I am married with 3 children and know how important their oral health is to their overall wellbeing. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my family either on the ball field, camping or snowmobiling. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow with Pediatric Dentistry & Family Orthodontics.

In many ways, my education began when finishing my formal schooling. I have taken on a diverse load of continuing education courses. My goal is to be able to customize each treatment to best meet each patients specific needs. I have gone through extensive training with Temporary Anchorage Devices, self-ligating braces, and Invisalign.

I also attend numerous meetings and lectures on the most advanced and recent orthodontic techniques and products. I attend annual meeting put on by theAmerican Association of Orthodontistsand theNortheastern Society of Orthodontists. I particularly like practice management lectures, helping me ensure that we are providing the most technologically advanced and convenient services. They make my practice more efficient and enjoyable.

Each patient brings different challenges and needs to the table. I strive to exceed these. I like getting to know each patient during the course of his or her treatment. Learning about our patients interests is fun, and I often find it helpful in customizing their treatments. I also have a very good support in my team. I can always count on them to go the extra mile to soothe and comfort our patients, which makes my job even more efficient and enjoyable.

I am a native of Utica, NY but happily settled down in East Syracuse in 2005. I am married to the love of my life, and we have two children. I like being active. My favorite ways are playing golf, tennis, and baseball or working out. I have always been an avid Syracuse Orange Basketball fan. One of my dreams growing up was to be like Sherman Douglas or Derrick Coleman. I played competitively through high school but found that it was not for me at SU. I really enjoy the great program there and have been a season ticket holder since 2008. I have been known to surprise patients I see at the dome with retainer checks.

My wife and I are very involved in our community. She has been Samaritan Center Baker since 2007 through Immaculate Conception Church. We both volunteer time to serve food at the Samaritan Center. I have been personally involved with numerous fundraisers that benefit Immaculate Conception Church and the school associated with it too. I helped organize the Soles-4-Souls collection program even making my office a collection point for lightly used or new footwear.

With dental cavities being one of the most common oral diseases, it is important to build self-esteem and alleviate or eliminate any fears about the dentist. I believe if you can achieve this early in life, and establish the importance of routine dental visits, then you can set the patient up for a lifetime of great oral health.

I attended SUNY Buffalo and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences. I continued my education at the SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery and moved on to complete my Pediatric Dental Residency at Temple University Hospital. I recently gained my Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry in 2017.

I am an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the New York State Dental Association. I am privileged to serve as a clinical instructor at both SUNY Upstate General Practice Dental Residency Program as well as St. Josephs Hospital Health Center Dental Residency Program.

I am a native of Watertown, NY and the youngest of three boys. Ive been living in Syracuse since 2016 and cherish every moment with my family and friends. Dr Young was very informative, and took the time to explain his treatment suggestions and steps he would like to take. He was also very gentle with my 18 month old. The entire staff was friendly.

I was SO nervous to bring my daughter to the dentist. She has massive sensory issues so I figured they wouldn't even be able to look into her mouth. The dental assistant was AMAZING!!! My daughter loved her and she was so good with her as well as Michael Weinstein! he answered all my questions and concerns I had! We can't wait to come back for our 6 month check up!:)

Our first visit here wasn't so bad. My 5 year old daughter had been having toothaches and for her initial visit, I was allowed to stay in the room with her while they looked at her teeth and came up with a treatment plan. Her first scheduled treatment appointment was last week and she had to have a tooth pulled. She was actually really excited going into this appointment, as we had a pretty good experience the first visit. Well, coming out was a different story. First of all, I was not allowed to stay for any of the prep or treatment, which I don't quite understand. I mean, she is a minor child going to be treated by complete strangers, essentially, but it's their rules I guess. She said they used some sort of crank device to hold her mouth open and they had it so wide, it felt like her jaw was going to break. She also said they yelled at her when she started crying, saying she was going to scare the other kids, which I understand them not wanting her to scare the other kids, but she's 5 and in pain and scared. Needless to say, she was pretty scared coming back for her second treatment today for fillings. Once again, I was allowed to walk her back to the room, but expected to leave before any prep or treatment began. She was crying hysterically, clinging to me and scared and just kept saying she just wanted to hold my hand while they worked on her. The assistant was very rushy to get me out of the room so they could get started and pretty much pulled my child out of my arms and told me to go with someone else who would walk me out. As I was being walked out, listening to my child screaming and crying behind a closed door down the hallway, I asked this other assistant what would happen if they couldn't get her calmed down. Her response was, "Well, as we talked about, they would use the papoose board." Ummm, excuse me??? I was NEVER talked to about a papoose board and I would NEVER have agreed to have that used on my child if I was talked to about it. I immediately told her that I did not want that used and she told me to hold on while she went back and informed the doctor. When she came back out, I was told that they would have to give my daughter some oxygen, as they had already started giving her gas. Come to find out, within just those couple minutes of me leaving the room, they had already had her strapped down to the chair on this papoose board!! They walked her out a couple minutes later and informed me that if I would not allow them to use this restraint on her, I would have to find another practice to take her to. I guess I don't really understand why they would resort to restraining an already scared child and forcing painful treatment on them rather than allowing the parent to stay in the room and comfort them. My daughter is now completely traumatized and afraid to go to any other dentist because of this experience and because of what they did that I did not give them permission to do. So, thank you Fayetteville Pediatric Dentistry for instilling what's probably going to be a lifetime of fear and anxiety about going to the dentist in my child.

My daughter is almost 2 and had such a great experience here. Dr. Danny was so gentle and kind. I was able to sit with her in the chair while they examined her teeth. She had moments of being scared, but was reassured along every step. I appreciate the kindness from the staff and making the waiting room an inviting place for kids. I couldn't be more impressed. 10/19 Today my daughter had a small procedure to cut her lip tie. I wanted to say how great the care was from the assistant Karen who held my daughter and played with her until the Dr was ready. The team did everything to keep me informed, show me what was going to happen and made me feel comfortable. Thank you.

We always have a great experience and my children love coming here. They are amazing with children and very accommodating the only issue we've ever encountered was very long delays such as 1-2 hours past our scheduled appointments so for the future we will just be prepared for longer waits. But all in all they are an amazing dentist and I will always recommend them!

Excellent first experience! When we walked in and my daughter saw her name on the board welcoming her and all the new patients- that eased her anxiety a bit. All staff members we met or talked with were kind, polite and were engaged with my 11 year old to make her feel comfortable. Thank you so much!
