Pediatric dentistry is the specialty of dentistry that focuses on the oral health and unique needs of young people. Not all children's dentists are specialists. Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. After completing a four-year dental school curriculum, two to three additional years of rigorous training is required to become a pediatric dental specialist. Our specialized education consists of child psychology, growth and development, management of oral-facial trauma, sedation and general anesthesia. This specialized program of study and hands-on experience prepares pediatric dentists to meet the unique needs of your infants, children and adolescents, including persons with special health care needs.
Dr. Rawlins grew up in a small town in New Mexico. Graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelors degree in Biology. Attended dental school in Texas at Baylor College of Dentistry. Following dental school, he worked as an attending professor at Baylor College of Dentistry in the Department of Public Health and worked as a general dentist in the Dallas metroplex.
While working as a professor and in private practice, Dr. Rawlins found his passion working with children from all backgrounds. He returned to school and completed an additional 2 years of specialty residency training in pediatric dentistry at Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus,Ohio. While at the Childrens Hospital he focused on all aspects of childrens dentistry that included prevention, diagnosis, special needs patients, and all aspects of sedation dentistry in children.
Dr. Rawlins fell in love with California while visiting his brother who is also a local dentist. He feels like the luckiest person in the world ending up in such a beautiful place to live, enjoy life, and raise his children.
Dr. Wittwer attended dental school in Dallas, Texas at Baylor College of Dentistry. He then completed a pediatric residency program at Ohio State University where he served as chief resident. He is Board-Certified in pediatric dentistry and has been practicing pediatric dentistry for more than 5 years. Dr. Wittwer is excited to be a part of the El Dorado Hills community.
Dr. Wittwer and his wife, Carolee, were raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Carolee was born in Northern California and their family lived there for many years. They are excited to return to her roots and raise their family in this beautiful area. They have two sons, Blake and Tyler who are full of energy and always on the run.

This pediatric dental practice is the best! We had such great experience with their team of professionals for dental care for our daughter. Dr.Joseph and his wonderful team was so caring and so professional!! The entire experience was a big blessing. We had to go sedation route and they made this experience so smooth and straight forward for us, in the comfort of their beautiful office. Highly recommend them!! So happy we were recommended this practice!

Today my two boys had their very first dental visits - it was the greatest experience I could have asked for! Everyone was so patient, kind, and WONDERFUL with children. I feel so incredibly lucky to have found this office - cannot speak highly enough of our experience today!

Dr. Ryan and the team and the staff is fantastic. Once we found this place, both our boys went here for all their dental needs until they turned 18. The quality or care and professionalism shown by Dr. Ryan and his staff is impeccable. I have always gotten clear answers to my questions and queries with no unnecessary xrays and tests added. And everyone is so friendly and patient. It amazed me that everytime we went in, Dr. Ryan picked up the conversation from where we left off during the prior visit, both in terms of dental health and life happenings. Our boys could relate to him from pre-teen years through their teenage years and that's quite impressive of Dr. Ryan. Our younger one went in recently for his last visit and the whole staff was so sweet and made it so special for him with some of his old pictures and all! THANQ for making the dental hygiene a breeze for us through the years!

So glad my son Dr recommended this pediatric dental office. My 2 year old needed to be put under do to a tooth he chipped the dentist and the anesthesiologist were comforting. They answered every question, sothed every worry and cared for my son as if he was their own. The lady that came in was informing us on the progress and showed just as much care. Not to mention they did all this on friday when they were closed. I highly recommend this place the people alone make the experience amazing everything else is just a bonus. Thank you all for the care ypur providing.

There are two good male dentists at this dental office who are there on different days. The office is decorated in an ocean motif, with televisions in the ceiling for kids to watch while getting their dental work done. The location is convenient, but we got tired of the rude woman in the front office who seems to be there all the time. If she's trying to sabotage this dental practice, it's working.
