Dr. Stephen Girdlestone is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry with over ten years of experience training dentists and conducting research in dental disease prevention. He is passionate about educating families in oral healthcare for their children.
Dr. Girdlestone completed four years of undergraduate studies, four years of dental school, as well as two additional years of specialized training in caring for children, Dr. Girdlestone has extensive knowledge and experience in treating and understanding the unique needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

The concept of a childs dental home originated in healthcare as a pediatric dental base for families to find information to educate themselves and their children about the benefits ofproperlong termoral healthcare. Dr.Girdlestones goal is to have all of his patients meet the healthcare standard fororal healthcare that prevents dental caries, the number one preventable disease in children.The concept of the Dental Home reflects the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistrys (AAPD) clinical guidelinesfor the proper delivery of oral health care to all children, with a concentration on the very young, infants and toddlers.
Dr. Girdlestone is a 2002 Diplomate of American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). He received his postdoctoral certificates in advanced education in pediatric dentistry in 2001 from the Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry (TAMBCD). The Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry is internationally recognized for its oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care, and community service programs. Dr. Girdlestones TAMBCD research involved A Survey of Access to Dental Care after Age Maturation from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas, Texas.
He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio in 1996. As president and active member of his dental fraternity, he was active in many philanthropic activities. He continues this dental community involvement as member of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

Our practice uses very modern equipment to minimize patient discomfort. We also use digital X-rays to overcome parental concerns about excess radiation. At the first visit, a complete oral exam will be performed and X-rays are taken if required.

We've been going to Dr. Girdelstone for the past 7 years. He is exceptionally talented at making my kids feel comfortable and safe. I am fully confident in the procedures he suggests and know that I am getting the very best. His staff is beyond compare! Each individual is skilled in handling anxious children, and they take extra time and are very patient. We even moved from the Canton area a while back, but still make the drive because I want the best for my my kiddos.

We were referred to Dr Girdlestone from our family dentist when we were concerned that another opinion we had gotten was too extreme for our 4 year old daughter. Thank goodness we got the second opinion and visited Dr Girdlestone and his team. They were fantastic with my feisty 4 year old and were able to do a much less invasive treatment plan. From being told our girl needed 8 crowns and to undergo general anesthesia to Dr Girdlestone accomplishing the task with 0 crowns, a few extractions and the rest fillings in his office with IV anesthesia. He was so patient and gentle and his office staff were so kind. I would definitely recommend Dr. Girdlestone!

Dr Girdlestone didn't go over the procedure he wanted to do for my son and tried to do a root canal without my permission and when I stopped him, thankfully I did before he got that far, he got really upset and was very unprofessional with how he handled everything, it was ridiculous, needless to say we won't be going back to him

I brought in my 3 1/2 year old for a check-up and cleaning. Since he has Down Syndrome and has issues with texture I knew this would be challenging. The staff was awesome! The ladies at the front desk were so warm and welcoming. The hygienist was very gentle and patient. Dr. Girdlestone was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for all the kindness that you showed us.

We have been to this office twice now. My son would not cooperate with his old dentist for even a cleaning. Yesterday he allowed them to do some work to his teeth with no fuss. They are amazing!
