Being a pediatric dentist and working with children means the world to me. I chose dentistry as my career when I was 17 years old; even at that young age I understood that the health of the oral cavity was an integral part of ones total health. Now, after practicing for 30 years, I am just as passionate about children and meeting their dental needs.

I have the amazing opportunity to meet families and treat children from diverse backgrounds. I treat each child who walks into my office as if he or she were my own. I feel that regardless of a childs cultural background, he or she should feel welcome in our dental office. I believe that all children understand the language of kindnessit is a language spoken fluently by everyone in our office.

I am a graduate of the City University of New York (Brooklyn College).I then pursued graduate dental training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Subsequently, I completed a general practice residency in Rochester, New York, before moving to Cincinnati in 1990. I worked as a public health dentist and in private practice in the Greater Cincinnati area for many years.

After realizing that my true passion was working with children, I completed a pediatric dental residency at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center in 2005 and worked in a pediatric dental office in Northern Kentucky. In 2007, I opened the Pediatric Dental Garden Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, to serve children and families throughout the tristate area.

I am a lifetime student. In order to provide the best possible care for my kids, it is essential for me to remain current with new dental innovations and procedures. In addition to attending webinars and live courses, I am affiliated with several professional organizations including:

In addition to caring for my patients at the Pediatric Dental Garden, I am an active supporter of the Give Kids a Smile program of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. I am involved with my church and go on annual mission trips with other healthcare professionals to underserved communities nationally and internationally. Closer to home, my staff and I also reach out to hundreds of children each year with oral hygiene presentations at pre-schools and childcare centers.

You want only the best for your child: a happy and full life, success in all they set out to do, a healthy body and mind, and a smile that reflects their wonderful personality Dr. Sophie Austin and her team want the same!

  • We Expect Kids to Be Kids: Every child is unique and at their own stage of physical, mental, and emotional development. Dr. Austin and our team understand this and adapt to each child as they are now. We are kind, patient, and supportive, presenting information in a way that the little one can understand, never pressuring or forcing them into a specific behavior. We do a lot of hand-holding and provide constant encouragement, so your child feels safe and learns to trust us.
  • We Partner with Parents and Guardians: Every family is unique, too. You have specific concerns, desires, and needs, and we want to learn what you want for your child. We do not judge or lecture; instead, we listen, talk, and provide practical information and guidance. By working together, we can help your child develop healthy habits and ensure they learn that taking care of their oral health is nothing to worry about.
  • We Treat Every Child as Our Own: Each of our patients is important to us. We respect who they are and strive to make them feel safe, heard, and cared for. Your child deserves to be cherished for the wonderful person they are, and we will always do so.
  • We Offer a Fun, Child-Friendly Environment: We have designed Pediatric Dental Garden Center to be a welcoming and inviting space, where children feel at home. We have an outdoor, nature-theme, and child-sized treatment chairs and tools. Our team members are friendly and funny and excel at putting even the most anxious little one at ease, praising their bravery and telling them how well theyre doing. Were always happy to offer a soft and cuddly blanket during a treatment, too. Our greatest joy, and most honored reward, is when a patient gives us a spontaneous hug at the end of visit and tells us they cant wait to come back!

Great experience with our two young daughters who are both very averse to anything doctor or dentist related. Will be going back for years to come.

The medical and administrative staff are absolutely wonderful! They are great with the kiddos and especially great with my son who has Down Syndrome. The office is painted in bright colors and has lots of small furniture designed for kids. They also have kid friendly music that plays during the day and fun mirrors and decorations. This is a 5 star practice!!!!

This office is very frustrating to work with. My 4 children have gone here for several years but we are going to switch. Staff can be rude and uninterested. There are always different hygienists, most who don't seem to work too well with children. Dr Sophie is sweet but often changing her plan. The last straw was getting a very complicated bill with a year and a half of charges items (3 pages with all 4 kids) stating that I was 90 days past due.... i was just there less than a month ago... why not ask me to pay? Bottom line is staff is rude and don't seem to know how to run an office.

This office is nothing but great! Dr. Austin had a revamping with office staff and I must say there was a hiccup phase but the new staff is amazing and help with accommodating any problems that may come up. They help with everything from scheduling to billing. If the office don't know the billing question they reach out to their NEW billing company who returns calls within 24hr-48hrs. Everyone should bring their children here!

Dr. Austin and her staff are great! I switched to her office from a regular dentist because I wanted my younger children to go to a place specialized in pediatrics. Now they feel more comfortable and actually enjoy going to the dentist. Dr. Austin is very warm, caring and professional and the rest of the staff are very sweet and helpful. I trust that my kids are in good hands there.
