Dr. Ben Kang is a unique kind of dentist. With his kid-oriented style and fun personality, he gets children excited about their dental care, helping them develop a lifetime of healthy habits. A native Oregonian, Dr. Kang graduated from Lincoln High School, went to University of Oregon with a degree in Biology, and earning his Doctorate degree at Oregon Health and Science University. He completed his pediatric dental residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, earning a Masters Degree in Oral Sciences and specializing in pediatric dentistry. For his excellent work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he was awarded chief pediatric dental resident. Dr. Kang returned to Portland to open his first practice and everything else has been history!
Dr. Ben Kang has been named Top Dentist in pediatric dentistry in Portland and metro areas by Portland Monthly Magazine for FIVE consecutive years (2007 2012). This honor is a peer review survey which asks local dentists to nominate the top dentists in the field of pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Kang is a board certified pediatric dentist and has completed an independent series of written and oral examinations by The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. This voluntary board certification helps you know that Dr.Kang has demonstrated exceptional knowledge in the field of pediatric dentistry and provides the highest standard of care for children.
Nicole had the opportunity to work with her dentist and orthodontist in high school! At just 16 years old she found her love of the dental field. Graduating with her EFDA in 2007 she continued to work as a dental assistant. She joined Dr. Kang in the summer of 2015 as a Front Office Manager and Extended Functions Dental Assistant, but she wears many hats around the office. You will see her assisting in clinic, comforting parents as our anesthesia coordinator, and an acting as an insurance advocate on behalf of our patients. When shes not busy at work, you can find her taking advantage of all the PNW has to offer! She enjoys taking trips to the beach and hiking local trails with her husband, son, and two dogs.
Dominique began her dental career, joining Dr. Kang, in the Fall of 2018 as Patient Coordinator. Prior to transitioning into the dental field, she was a hair stylist and followed her husband during his time in the United States Navy, living in Bahrain and Italy. After finding their way back home, she supported her husbands dream of playing college football, while earning his Masters Degree. Now that she is able to focus on her own career ambitions, her goal is to earn her EFDA! She loves exploring the outdoors and adventuring to new places with her husband and two kids!
Cezanne is the first smile you meet as you first enter our building! We were happy to have her join our team in the Winter of 2019! Prior to working in the dental field, and inbetween her many travels, she was a Starbucks Barista and worked front office for a Music Academy! She lives for trying new things and traveling to new places, near and far! She is fluent in Sign Language and loves playing her guitar! When she is not adventuring afar, you can find her hiking, camping, and enjoying life in the great outdoors!
Dakota joined our office in the winter of 2020, as our Registered Dental Hygienist, after graduating from Pacific University! She started working towards her dental dream, of becoming a Dental Hygienist, after job shadowing the profession during her freshman year of college. It was at that time she knew what she was meant to do! She got right to work, completing all of her dental hygiene prerequisites at PCC, and was later accepted into Pacific Universitys Dental Hygiene Program! She is passionate about dental health and it is her goal to volunteer at the GreatShape! Sealant Project, to provide free dental services to children of Jamaica. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends while exploring the PNW!
Yvette found her love in the dental field as a sophomore in high school; At just 16 years old she started working as a Sterilization Tech at an office in her hometown. After exploring other career opportunities, she knew where she was meant to be! She joined Dr. Kang in 2009 and has spent 10 years fulfilling her career ambitions! She stepped away for a few years to support her husband during his Oral Surgery Residency, but we were grateful to have her come in and help whenever she could during that time! Now that he is finished, we love having her back in the office on a daily basis as she continues to focus on her career and doing what she loves! When she is not at work, she is busy with three kids and their chocolate lab, Opie. They love vacationing in Hawaii and spending time on the Oregon Coast!
Caitlin joined our team in the Summer of 2018, shortly after beginning her dental career! She works closely with Dr. Kang as his main sedation assistant and strives to make it a postitive experience. She is passionate about dental health and loves having the opportunity to teach kids the importance of brushing and flossing! She is currently working towards her career goal of becoming a Dental Hygienist! When she is not working, you can find her at the beach, camping with family, or working out! She loves vacationing in Maui, Hawaii or Cancun, Mexico-anywhere there is sunshine!

Pediatric Dentals is great. I have taken my kids there for years and they have always made the visits easy and painless. They are geared towards kids, very friendly and make it as fun as they can.

Dr. Ben was great with my two boys on their visit to his office today. He used straightforward terms to tell them what he was looking at in their teeth and did his exam in a manner and speed that was in-line with their comfort level. Both hygienists were extremely nice, made my boys laugh, and were very thorough in their cleaning. They were also sensitive to the numerous loose teeth in both boy's mouths and worked with incredible speed. Thank you for a great visit.

My son doesn't love the dentist, but needed a baby tooth Wiggled out today. Dr. Kang was able to get it out without my son even knowing!! He is amazing with kids and knows how to distract them from being anxious about dental work.

Dr. Kang is an amazing dentist and is so great with our kids! Him and his team treat all 5 of our kids and they know how to make them happy and comfortable even during more invasive procedures. Great bed side manor!!

Have had great experience with all three of my children. We actually went to a dentist much closer to us initially, but Dr. Ben is worth the drive. All of the staff are very friendly and help to make the dentist a great experience for children. Dr. Ben is very skilled and knowledgeable, which is one of the main reasons we transferred.

UPDATE! We've been coming here for years and recently had to short notice cancel an appointment due to having to put our dog down UNEXPECTEDLY. I emailed over the weekend just in case someone could see it and I called first thing in the morning. I was shocked to hear I was going to be charged $50 for my two boys. After expressing my SHOCK they came back and said those fees would be waived this time. Fast forward a couple days and I receive a letter reiterating that there is typically a fee bla bla bla. HEARTLESS! All you care about is YOU! Life happens! Your letter said it affects my kids not bringing them? No what affects my kids is losing the pet they've had since they were tiny! Freaking heartless.

Our experience at Pediatric Dental at Bridgeport was just amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and patient with my 3.5 year old who was nervous and scared. They made her experience at the dentist a good one. We will definitely continue to see Dr. Ben for my daughter's dental needs..

The office has been so helpful and flexible! My son felt at ease with the staff and the dentist, and he is a toddler. They made it very easy and comfortable for him! Would definitely recommend them!

Dr Kang is amazing! And all of his staff. We have been going to him for over 10 years I always get friendly service. They treat the kids with kindness, they take away their fear and relax them. Its not so scary. Dr. Kang is hard on them if they don't brush their teeth but in a good way. He encourages them to do better. He is very patient with the kids, you can tell he cares about your child. He will go over each treatment with you and won't get you to do more than you need. He is a very honest man. Great Dentist. Highly recommended you go, easy to get in to see him too.
