Dr. Hearne grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He decided to become a dentist at the age of 12, due to the example of a close family friend and well known dentist. He began his career in the hotel industry at age 14, where he learned the importance of customer service and a high standard of excellence. When Dr. Hearne was 18, he lost his little brother, Little Buddy, to cystic fibrosis who was 7 when he died. The tender care given to his brother throughout his life by wonderful nurses and doctors inspired Dr. Hearne to become and excellent caregiver for his patients.
During his undergraduate education at Utah State University, Dr. Hearne met his wife, Naomi. After completing his education at USU, Dr. Hearne earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery(DDS)degree after 4 years of training at Creighton University School of Dentistry in May, 1997. He then completed a one-year advanced General Practice Residency program at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in June, 1998 while working part time as an Associate Dentist in a private practice.
Dr. Hearne, a Utah general dentist, started Woodland Park Dental in August, 1998 and continues to build a very successful practice today. Dr. Hearne is constantly striving to provide a painless experience for his patients with the use of parenteral and oral sedation and other techniques and technologies which enable him to achieve these results.
Through his unceasing commitment to learning and professional development Dr. Hearne received an Honorary Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in Washington, DC in July, 2005. The Fellowship, in conjunction with memberships in the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Painless Dentistry, and the Weber District Dental Society, demonstrates his dedication to education and improvement for his patients benefit.
Dr. Hearnes commitment to his community goes far beyond the dental chair. He currently serves in the Boy Scouts of America as an adult trainer in Wood Badge courses (training for adult Cub and Boy Scout Leaders) and is currently serving as a leader for the eleven year old Boy Scouts.
I was born in Ogden, Utah and always knew I was going to be in the health profession. I started college at Weber State University studying biology with the intent of getting into dental school. After a two-year hiatus on an LDS mission in South Africa where I had a wonderful time meeting people and exploring a new country with many exotic animals, I met and married my wife, Theresa. I was accepted to the prestigious Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, where I was the proud recipient of many awards for clinical excellence. My family and I love living and working in St. George. It is a wonderful place to raise our two sets of twins. We enjoy tennis, hiking, mountain biking, softball and, of course, golf. We also enjoy and support the local theater, watching and acting. I recently played Uncle Max in the Sound of Music with my wife (Frau Schmidt) and daughters (Brigitta, Marta, Nun) in the show. If you attend the local theater, there is a good chance you will see my family and me sometime on the stage! We look forward to getting to know you as patients and friends. My ultimate goal is to give patients smiles that they love. I do this by offering comprehensive care, including cosmetic and restorative dentistry, dental implants, orthodontics, periodontal care and more. These specialties can do more than make you look good; they can boost your self-esteem and give you a lifetime of happiness. Whats more, my artistic ability along with my dedication to perfection have greatly enhanced my expertise as a dentist. This gives me the sensitivity and skill required to create the beautiful, natural-looking smiles. I also believe that in order to provide high-quality dentistry, a patient cant be rushed. Thats why I will spend the time necessary with you to fully understand what you desire for your smile. This includes asking what your expectations are, answering all of your questions, and explaining your treatment options in great detail. Its the same kind of friendly, highly personalized dental care that I would want for myself.
If you are interested in a new, fresh approach to dental care, consider laser dentistry. At PeakView Dentistry, we can use laser dentistry to treat our patients' oral health concerns in a way that is comfortable and effective. If you live in Boulder or surrounding area and are looking for modern dental care, give us a call. Lasers are revolutionizing dentistry, but a family dentist still typically uses traditional metal dental tools, making it necessary to visit a laser dentist. As a laser dentist in Boulder, we can use lasers in the majority of our procedures to correct damage without causing irritation. We invite you to call (303) 578-5800 and experience the difference that laser dentistry can make.
If you suffer from dental anxiety or avoid visiting the dentist for fear of discomfort, you are not alone. This is a common condition that you do not have to live with. Laser dentistry has revolutionized dental care to the point where procedures can be performed in a way that is so comfortable that you will barely notice you are having dental work done. We treat patients throughout the Boulder area that no longer have concerns regarding dental care after experiencing how pleasant a laser dental treatment can be.
Perhaps one of the most significant advances that gentle dentistry has made is associated with treating gum disease. This condition is so common that most adults will suffer from some form of gum disease in their lifetime. The symptoms typically start with red, swollen, and bleeding gums but if left untreated, it can lead to gum recession. Receding gums are particularly dangerous because more of the tooth and roots will become exposed and open for attack by bacteria. Many people suffer bone and tooth loss as a result. Treating gum disease, therefore, is critical for preserving your teeth as you age. The traditional method of treatment involves pulling the gums away from the tooth and using metal dental tools to scrape off the bacteria, plaque and tartar that has formed on the tooth but underneath the gums. This can be uncomfortable to say the least. Laser dentistry has completely changed the procedure. We offer periodontic care, and our patients can have their gum disease treated by using lasers to break up the plaque and tartar. This will remove the irritant that is causing the gum disease in the first place. Typically, the gums will then return to good health. Since this is a non-invasive procedure, our patients start to feel better right away. Not all dentists in the Boulder area offer this new method of treating gum disease, making it important to visit a laser dentistry office.
At PeakView Dentistry, we can transform your ordinary smile into something truly beautiful. If you are tired of having yellow or stained teeth, you are not alone. In our high tech dental offices, we can perform an in-office whitening treatment with dramatic results. Your teeth can become eight shades whiter or more in a single sitting. The lasers essentially activate the whitening solution that is placed on your teeth. This means that your teeth will whiten much faster than if you treated them at home. While the results are stunning, the procedure is still entirely safe, making it an excellent solution for improving your appearance. You can also whiten your teeth using custom-made whitening trays, and while this works, it can take a week or two to achieve the same results that we can get in an hour. When trying to decide which option to select, consider how much time you have to spend whitening your teeth and whether or not you have an immediate event that you want your teeth whitened for. If you are pressed for time, you should definitely have an in-office laser whitening treatment. We can schedule you and improve your smile in time for a new job interview, family vacation, wedding, etc.
