Digital X-rays offer a huge advantage in early detection and preventive services. Advanced image manipulation and analysis, for example, allows your doctor to detect early stages of gum disease through recognition of bone level changes, or by evaluating the results against a previous treatment.

An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Using an intraoral camera allows patients to better understand their dental needs by seeing what the dentist sees and then having it explained.

Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.

I loved coming to PB Smiles! I left with a big smile after getting my cleaning and work done efficiently. Everyone was so polite and friendly (shout-out to Bailey for walking me through everything and treating me so well!). Dr. Gladvin did a great job explaining everything in an easy to understand manner and made sure to consistently check on me to ensure I was okay throughout the whole experience. loved it!

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY ACTUAL PROCEDURE This review is only in reference to the actual dentist- Gladden Thyagaraj. The receptionist and dental assistant we both amazing and incredibly friendly. I went on Friday to get a small cavity filled-- the appointment started 30 minutes late, which I could get over if everything else went okay, but it didn't. The administering of the numbing agent was incredibly painful-- I heard my skin breaking and felt the needle being moved while under my skin. He also put in three needles worth of the numbing, which felt like a lot. Within 10 minutes my heart rate spiked (thanks apple watch), my stomach was knotted, and my whole body was sweating (despite me being chilly when I got in). Soon after I started getting dizzy and it felt like either my throat was closing or getting numb. I told the assistant who seemed concerned and got the dentist, but the dentist told me it was "entirely normal". I have had to get numbed before-- it is NOT normal. Even after waiting ~10 minutes and drinking two cups of cool water I still felt horrible, but moved on with the procedure anyway. There was nothing notable about the procedure itself, but it took 5 hours after leaving the dentist for me to regain any feeling in my face-- again NOT NORMAL. It has now been three days and my jaw is still sore, either from bruising from him wiggling the needle or just how forcefully he was pressing while doing the procedure. Hopefully it goes back to normal soon... Save your money and protect your teeth-- do not go here. UPDATE: it's been 4 months now and my tooth STILL hurts from where the cavity was filled-- can't really eat on that side anymore.

I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years, and have a few procedures to get through in the coming months. I have had nothing but an amazing experience with the entire staff, who are all professional and compassionate practitioners:) If all dental offices were like this, everyone would look forward to dental appointments. Would recommend PB Smiles to everyone!!!!

I went here right before covid (2019) and they told me i needed root canals and it was an emergency, and then had someone sit down with me to work out how ill be able to afford the (couple of thousands of dollar) bill. During covid i lost my insurance so i didnt get the root canals. Its now 2022 and my first dental appointment since the one with PB Smiles in 2019, i went to my trusted dentist and he said i dont even have so much as a cavity and my teeth are just sensitive. Im so happy i didnt trust this dentist.

Dr. Gladvin Thyagaraj DDS and the whole staff at PB Smiles Dentistry is amazing. I have been going there for about five years. I have to go in today to get an old silver filling replaced with a crown. I was SUPER nervous but Dr. Thyagaraj was awesome and calmed me down, he numbed me up really well and I felt NOTHING. I definitely should have brought headphones so I wouldn't hear anything but oh well. Bring headphones! Very excellent dentist and kind staff!!!!

I went there to the dentist for the first time in three years. Got a basic exam and x-ray and I thought that I was very thorough. The dentist there told me I needed a root canal, four cavities that need to be filled, also that I needed surgery to have a tooth removed with a bone graft and then an implant. I need it according to them about $16,000 worth of dental work done. This past week I went to a trusted family dentist and they told me that I did need the tooth removed but that I only had one cavity not four. So I was late about needing a root canal and three cavities that aren't there. Even with my dental insurance I still had a fork that much to get work done. Don't go here they're predatory and they'll tell you that you need a lot more work than you'll actually do. I should've read the reviews before making an appointment.

Such a great experience with PB Smiles Dentistry! I went to them for a second opinion and they made me feel so comfortable during my visit. The front desk associates were so helpful in verifying insurance, gathering x-rays from a previous dentist, and explaining costs/ next steps. Dr. Gladvin and the x-ray technician were extremely thorough. Dr. Gladvin explained each step of my exam, made sure I felt comfortable during each step, and was genuine in his work. To my knowledge, the dentistry has new management and I can say they've taken a turn for the better!! I would highly recommend PB Smiles Dentistry.

My previous dentist La Jolla Dental Arts no longer accepted delta dental. I note I had gone to LJ Dental Arts for 20+ years. Sooo I looked at options PB Dental Smiles came up so I set up an appt for teeth cleaning. Appt set up April 7 to do a simple teeth cleaning per Delta coverage as a test noting I had my teeth cleaned by LJ Dental Arts Feb 2022. I arrive at PB Smiles on time take 20 minutes X-rays than the dentist appears does an assessment tells me I need a deep clean. I ask how much he estimates $800-$1000. I repeat just had my teeth cleaned 6 weeks earlier. My regimen past 15+ years is teeth cleaning every 6 months. Never an issue with my teeth. I brush 2x a day floss 2x a day. Do teeth whitening every 6 months. I respectfully said no to the doctor PB Smiles and left. Point being if possible get a second opinion this place only accepts new Delta clients to try to sell unneeded services.

Today was my first experience at PB smiles dentistry, and I had the best time ever. Not only was I greeted with a smile by the receptionist, but I was offered water and coffee and superb care by my hygienist as well as my doctor. The doctor and Hygienist both described what would be happening very thoroughly and we're happy to answer any questions I had. I would gladly and most happily recommend PB smiles to anyone in the Pacific Beach area or beyond.

Get ready to be SOLD. My wife and I were both pressured into deep cleaning for $4,000 each plus many other repairs and upgrades. I told the doctor "No" as I was prepared for the selling after my wife went through it and he refused to clean my teeth. I get that Dentists have become pretty intense salespeople these days but this guy takes it to a new level. The entire exam is built for selling. Every picture that is taken and every step the Dentist makes is to sell you. I had to finally get up and tell them I would find another Dentist versus argue with them about my personal care. Very uncomfortable and unprofessional.
