Volunteers play an important role in our success at CHoR, providing invaluable services to our patients and staff. Volunteers provide that extra touch a warm smile, a cheerful greeting, an extra pair of hands. The rewards of volunteering are many, as are the opportunities for giving and caring.

Volunteers make a difference in various inpatient and outpatient settings as well as in clerical roles. We offer volunteer opportunities for adults (non-students), college/graduate students and junior volunteers ages 14 to 17.

At the start of every fall, spring and summer semester, we welcome students from various colleges and universities to become involved in various ways. To ensure you are able to volunteer, you must begin working on the requirements before the semester begins:

  • Once completed application and health forms are turned in, it is the student's responsibility to follow all given instructions and to sign up for a unit and time to volunteer with the assistance of the Volunteer Services staff.
  • High school students (ages 14 and up) may apply to volunteer during the summer Junior Volunteer Program. Teens get a chance to experience the benefits of donating time and services to the community, and to explore career options in the health care field.

Weve been ranked among the nations best childrens hospitals in four specialties again! Were thrilled to receive these honors, not for the badges, but for what they mean for our children and families. And to us, being chosen to care for your kids is the best recognition of all.

Like Javi, receiving a diagnosis of pediatric cancer can change your familys life in an instant. Caring for the whole child and family is at the heart of our approach to expert cancer care. Youre never in this alone.

It is very cool that she is being seen by doctors who are working in a nationally ranked hospital, but the fact they take the time to care, listen and celebrate her successes means even more to me as a parent. She's not treated like a number, a case study or a research project; she's treated like the person she is...a growing, thriving, loving child!

From the simple to the complex our pulmonologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers and entire team are here to help your child thrive. We care for every lung-related condition from asthma and cystic fibrosis to complex aerodigestive disorders.

Thats when they met Dr. Timothy Bunchman, chief of nephrology at CHoR, and Jacob was officially diagnosed with renal dysplasia, meaning his kidneys had never properly developed and at just 16 years old, they were failing. He was going to need a transplant.

Our individualized treatment plans, multidisciplinary team, multispecialty clinics and ability to care for the common and the complex are why weve been ranked among the nations best kidney program for the seventh time!
