Dr. Coggins completed his undergraduate degree at Davidson College. He then studied at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, and graduated with a Doctorate degree in general dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Coggins also earned a post-doctoral Master's degree in Public Health from UNC-CH, concentrating in health policy and administration.
Having been in practice for over 20 years, Dr. Coggins is a public lecturer and Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a part-time faculty member in the Dental Hygiene department at Wake Technical Community College.
His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Society for Dental Ethics, and the North Carolina Dental Society. In the past, Dr. Coggins has served as Chairman of the Board of the Wilkes County Board of Health.
A Registered Dental Hygienist since 2000, Michelle is a graduate from NCSU where she studied Animal Science. You may see her in commercials and print advertisements around the Triangle. Since her days as a Wolfpack cheerleader, she continues to be an active alumna and mom.
Laura graduated dental hygiene school with a degree in science in 1997 from SUNY Farmingdale, NY. Originally from Long Island, she and her family relocated to the Raleigh area back in 2004. She joined our team in 2012.
During her time off, Laura enjoys interior design, photography, travel, trying out new restaurants in the area, baking, shopping, and spending time with friends. She and her husband have a son in college and a sweet dog named Chloe.
After five years in the dental field, Andi joined our practice in October 2014. She is the first person youll see when you come into the office. In her spare time she loves whipping up a new recipe in the kitchen, spending time with her family, and enjoying a good book.
Emma graduated from her dental assisting program in March of 2020, and has been in our office ever since. She loves being hands on and being able to constantly learn new things about the dental field. Emma was born in Raleigh and grew up in Wake Forest with 4 sisters and 1 brother. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and going shopping.
Ruth became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2016 and loves the challenge and diversity of assisting. She grew up in the desert Southwest. She met her husband while serving as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy. They have 2 great kids that they home schooled through high school. In her spare time, she enjoys playing in her garden and painting.
With his expertise in customer service, Wes is the newest member of our front desk team. He and his husband have been married for seven years and originally met in Charlotte 12 years ago. They have two children as well as two dogs Izzy and Pee Wee. Wes feels lucky to be a part of such a great team of people who love to laugh as much as he does!

Dr. Coggins and his staff are absolutely the best! My first appointment was an emergency visit shortly after I moved to Raleigh, and I was in within the hour. Dr. Coggins and his team are professional, thorough, and happy to work with me on insurance co-pays, etc. Did I mention kind and patient? Those, too!! You will be glad you chose Dr. Coggins and his team.

I come from a dental background and met Dr. Coggins and absolutely fell in love with this practice. The staff is super friendly. Dr. coggins is ethical and kind. I recommend him to all my friends and family.

Dr. Coggins and his staff are COMPLETELY AMAZING! They take the fear out of going to the dentist and replace it with a lovely experience! Dr. Coggins is very gentle and thorough, and everyone in the office is so kind. Someone else said they would give this practice 10 stars if it was possible. I second that idea!

The best!!! (NOTE: one person left a 1-star review because s/he mistook Dr. Coggins for Coglins bar in Wilmington. This has been reported, but Google has not removed it! So pay no nevermind to the guy with spelling issues.) ,Dr Coggins was my dentist for years after Dr. Short retired. He's been fantastic, and same for his hygienists and desk staff. I actually look forward to my biannual checkups because it's always a pleasant--even fun!-- experience, even when treatment is needed. It's so easy to get to the office off Wade Ave--and I can reward myself for another good checkup by spending $$ across the street at Whole Foods afterwards. :)

Have been visiting Dr Coggins for several years for all of my dental needs. WONDERFUL dentist. Fabulous patient/Dr relations. Staff is very kind, friendly and welcoming. Patient for life! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

DO. NOT GO. TO. COGLINS. Some of the bouncers are on a complete power trip and borderline violent! I have video! Really, do not go to Coglins. Their bouncers are on a power trip, in my opinion. They are complete losers. I may sue at worst, or may post on You Tube at best. I'm the mean time, avoid Coglins. Stay tuned.......

Recommended to me by my former dentist in Massachusetts, Dr. Coggins and his staff have been absolutely phenomenal (we have our teeth cleaned quarterly). Our entire family sees him as he is equally great with children. They actually LIKE going to the dentist! All of his staff are extremely pleasant and professional. And we love the fact that Andi, his receptionist, calls us a few days in advance to confirm our appointments so we don't forget!

The team in Dr. Coggins' office goes above and beyond to provide the best care and customer experience for every patient, every visit. Honestly, you will not find a better or more compassionate dentist. Dr. Coggins is extremely thorough in his encounters, taking the time to explain everything in detail to ensure all questions are answered and concerns addressed. He is even available via email! 7:00 a.m. appointments are routinely available. During my last visit I had a pair of ill-fitting retainers which Dr. Coggins adjusted for free, despite the fact someone else had provided my orthodontic appliances. Options were presented with upfront prices, and absolutely no pressure. There was no charge for the visit although it took 30 minutes of the dentist's time! A sure way to earn our repeat business, however I would've gladly paid for the services provided.
