I am sure Dr. Shirley is competent in his work but competency is not the total value of a visit. My experience yesterday was not good. I was in and out in a total of 20 minutes and charged $670. I went in to have two extractions - not my real teeth, but crowns. All he had to do was to twist each one slightly and pull it out. No surgery, no cutting. The charge was $275 each. Then I saw $80 on the bill for "consultation". The consultation took less than 1 minute and consisted of the following: he read over my med list, asked if I had any allergies, when was my last Prolia shot, and who is my cardiologist. That was the total consultation! My next surprise was a $40 charge for "PPE". They told me that was for personal protective equipment. I've been in many, many Dr. offices and never had that charge. In addition, Dr. Shirley has a "cold" attitude about him - distant, no compassion, and unprofessional - like I was a number. I would not recommend his as an oral surgeon. I will add that I am satisfied with the results of the extractions - but there is much more involved to make a pleasant and satisfying doctor's visit. Many of my Sun City friends recommended someone else, but my regular dentist sent me to him.

Bad experience dealing with Dr. Shirley's staff in regards to insurance coverage. Very unfriendly and unwilling to help. When my son had his wisdom teeth pulled we were told that the insurance would be contacted and most likely would only pay a portion of the surgery, but they would still file for insurance. I consented and paid the amount that I was told to pay and we went on with our lives. Then one day I received a check from the doctor for the amount I had paid with an explanation of they had filed with the insurance and it was totally covered. I even called them to make sure. I said great, thank you for your assistance, deposited the check and again, went on with our lives. A little while passed and I received a letter from the doctor saying that I owed them money. I was very confused. So I contacted my insurance company and they said that when the doctor originally filed the claim they filed it with a code that would be covered. But for some reason they filed it again and the insurance said they do not cover it. Now I was even more confused, so I got both the insurance company and the doctors staff on the phone at the same time to discuss. It was mentioned in the conversation that the issue is with the doctors office and the insurance company and I had done my part and would be left out. That's how I left it, thinking that the two parties would get it resolved. Well, to my disbelief, I received another letter saying that I still owed money. My frustration grew as to why am I being held as the one that has made the mistake. I held up my end in all this and paid the original amount. To me the doctors office should be held somewhat responsible for this. After several attempts to get the insurance and doctors office on the same page, I had enough and offered to pay half the amount with no hard feelings. No luck. If I were to guess, the doctors office does not want to go the extra mile and make this right, they are just letting it simmer because it doesn't hurt them. It is not about the money, it is the principle.

Dr. shirley and his staff were fantastic! I was in and out in 15 minutes for a tooth extraction. Dr. Shirley had previously removed my wisdom teeth over a decade ago so it was good to see someone I knew had experience and compassion. I would highly recommend him doing your dental work!

I have never had a problem with dentists. I can handle shots and work on my teeth without anxiety. But this was the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist. I left there in complete tears. I felt Dr. Shirley was not attentive, distant, and unprofessional. I felt that I was just another number that must quickly be completed without concern for my well-being. I felt that while he was pulling my tooth, he was not willing to listen to me concerning the enormous pain I was in and I felt like he just held me down without concern. I would highly recommend that you seek another oral surgeon. One that has more compassion and professionalism.

Had 3 erupted wisdom teeth pulled. Was knocked out and out of the door in 5 minutes. Phenomenal experience.

My daughter had a tooth pulled today. She was in and out in 12 minutes; the novacaine had not taken full effect when the extraction occurred. She was charged $510.00, $40.00 of which was to cover the cost of PPE equipment for the staff! Unbelievable as that sounds, that is exactly what happened!

All of Dr. Shirley's office staff were very sweet and friendly! They made me feel welcomed. Dr. Shirley himself took the time to explain things to me and my family. I could tell that he actually wanted to do what was best for me rather than just make some money. I definitely recommend Dr. Shirley!

Dr Shirley and his staff are kind, wonderful and efficient. They agree to see my son as a new patient related to a traumatic injury on the same day I called...which was a Friday. The office functions on a timely and accurate schedule and I could not be happier with our experience from beginning to end. Thank you all!!!

Beyond superb!! Dr Shirley told my husband and I it would be around 45mins to get my back molar pulled. Dr Shelley took me back, (I scared if needles), so i asked the nurse if she'd hold my hand. She said i would gladly. They took amazing care if me. He took me back, within 15 minutes i was done! I got it fine almost two weeks ago,and have yet to feel any pain. He is incredible. Staff is attentive and polite! I would recommend him to anyone
