I have been a general dentist in private practice since 1984. I have extensive knowledge ofrestorative dentistry, fixed prosthetics (crown and bridge), implants, cosmetic dentistry, and occlusion (bite issues). My profession involves helping people, either to get them out of pain, to improve the appearance of their teeth and smile, or just to improve their overall dental health.

In short, taking a broken-down tooth and creating a pretty and functional one is extremely satisfying to me. Over the last three decades, I have developed a deep connection to the people in my practice by listening to them and sharing the ups and downs of their lives. My practice and my patients are a significant part of my life.

I believe that dentistry is constantly evolving, and in order to be the very best dentist, I must continue to learn new techniques, products, and equipment. I take approximately 30 to 40 continuing education units per year, in areas of study that will further my knowledge of dentistry and hone my skills, and thereby enable me to provide ever better dentistry. I am currently concentrating on the areas of implants, periodontology (gum disease), and aesthetic dentistry.

I am a lifelong resident of Marin and Sonoma counties. I love to hike, dance, knit, travel, and have fun with my daughter. I have also been involved in local Scottish, Scandinavian, and folk dance groups since 1975.

We truly care about the well-being and comfort of our patients. We place follow-up calls after lengthy procedures and fillings involving anesthesia to ensure our patients are recovering well and are comfortable.

We follow the approved protocol for removing mercury amalgam fillings, established by the International Academy of Oral Medicine. In addition to a protective rubber dam, we use a HEPA filter vacuum that draws the amalgam and toxic vapors away during the drilling and removal process.

In addition, we use mercury ionizers that act as magnets for any mercury that should escape into the room. Oxygen is brought into the room for added office purification and protection of staff and patients.

Given the many new choices of dental materials available, we offer a variety of mercury-free options for fillings, crowns, and inlays. As older mercury amalgam fillings become worn out, we can replace them with less toxic materials that are bio-compatible forthe patient. These materials can also be matched to the teeth in color, so they lookmuch more natural.

Ozone is a safe and effective way to reduce harmful bacteria in our mouths. It is produced using medical grade oxygen and equipment, which enablesour office to providea technology that is fast, painless, and environmentally friendly. We have combined ozone with conventional dental care to benefit our patients.

Oxygen/ozone, when introduced into the living system, creates a 'transient oxidative burst' by introducing high levels of oxygen. The infective microorganisms have no natural defense against this reaction; they are overstressed and die, leaving the healthy cells to flourish.

Oxygen/ozone can enhance the outcome of all facets of dentistry by killing disease-causing microbes. For example, periodontal disease is a chronic gum and bone infection. By utilizing the different application forms of oxygen/ozone such as ozonated water, ozonated oils, and placing oxygen/ozone directly into the infected gum pockets, periodontal disease can be arrested without the use of pharmaceutical drugs and the associated side effects.

After removing the decayed portion of the tooth, we apply ozone to the prepared tooth to kill the decay-causing microbes safely and effectively, and create a thoroughly disinfected tooth upon which to place the final restoration.Great results have been seen using these techniques, including reduced sensitivity after dental work and improvements in periodontal health.

It is estimated that of the 36,000 Americans diagnosed with oral cancer each year, only a littlemore than half will still be alive in five years. Because of the proximity of the oral cavity to the lymph nodes of the neck, oral cancer can spread quickly to other parts of the body. Finding oral cancer in its early stages is key to survival.

Dr. Webb has incorporated the use of the VELScope fluorescent light in her annual exam. She feels strongly that you should have the most advanced standard of care available forthe early detection of oral abnormalities, which include cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions.

VELScope is a hand-held device that uses a non-invasive blue fluorescent light to detect oral diseases by exciting molecules deep in the tissue, creating a contrast between normal and abnormal tissues. It is an invaluable tool for the detection of oral cancer.

Digital X-rays offer many advantages over traditional X-rays. The main benefit is that patientsexposure to radiation is greatly reduced. Another benefit is time saved. Since the digital images are availableimmediately, there is no waiting. The elimination of chemical processing also keeps the dental office environment cleaner and more eco-friendly.
