I went to this office last week for x-rays and an exam. I hadn't been to a dentist in many years. So hearing that I had cavities was expected. What was not expected was hearing from the dentist that there were 12 cavities which all had to be filled. I was alarmed. Before getting the 12 fillings I decided to go to another dentist to get a second opinion, especially because there was so much work that needed to be done according to pathway dental. This new dentist told me there were only 2 fillings that needed to be done. They saw small spots of erosion on some teeth, but the erosion was superficial and had not passed the enamel. An eye should be kept on these, but no filling needed at the moment. That I could even reverse the superficial erosion with special tooth paste. What a dramatic difference! Going from 12 fillings... to 2! I chose the other dentist office to follow through with the treatment plan. I prefer more conservative approach, and I only want a cavity filled if it absolutely has to. Maybe the dentist at pathway just had a different philosophy?? That's the kind way of putting it I think Anyway, just want people to be aware that there are other options!! I'm very glad I got a second opinion and will not be going back to pathway dental. Everyone was nice there. But dental philosophy didn't fit with my needs.

I really feel cared for at Ericson Dental. Dr. E is awesome and Jennifer Paxton has been an absolute dream to work with. She has taken the time to patiently, efficiently and sweetly prep me and for the next phase of my dental adventures. Magdalena is the best and most gentle hygienist I have worked with--ever. It's been quite enraging dealing with Pathway Dental. TL;DR: I booked a teeth cleaning, yet upon arrival they insisted on taking x-rays. I did not want x-rays, and protested. They said the x-rays were covered by my insurance. They were wrong, and are now unapologietically hounding me for payment. As a first time patient, I called and scheduled an apt for a cleaning. When I arrived, they told me that all they had me booked for that day was x-rays, and that i would have to come another day for cleaning. I did not want x-rays having recently done some. I asked them to please not give me x-rays, and please proceed with the cleaning that I had explicitly scheduled. After much back and forth, they said it was their policy to do x-rays, and that I could not get the cleaning without the x-rays first. Given that ultimatum, I asked them to confirm my insurance covered the x-rays, and they confirmed it did. Begrudgingly I did the x-rays, and then they allowed us to proceed with the cleaning I had come for. A few months after this apt Pathway Dental began sending me a bill for the x-rays, saying they actually weren't covered by my insurance. I've connected with them several times explainign the above, asking them to remove the $45 x-ray charge as there are several concerning aspects about their engagement. They are refusing to remove the charge, now claiming that "Pre-authorizations are not required for dental treatment and we don't do pre-authorizations". It is not ok to tell patients confidently a service will be covered by their insurance, and then later bill the client and say they (Pathway Dental) cannot say if an item is covered or not by insurance.

Drs. Vanmali and Vitez and their whole team are incredible. After some complications with an old filling, their team repaired the issue, fit me into their schedule day-of (multiple times) for follow-ups to address my concerns, and ultimately resolve the issue entirely. Each practitioner was patient, welcoming, respectful, direct, and gentle when performing procedures or tests. Everyone in their front office was quick to respond to my communications, and quick to answer my questions. Their office is clean and bright with easy parking right out front, and best of all they have appointments available before standard work hours begin at 9. I'd highly recommend Pathway Dental in SB!

Friendly, courteous, and professional staff. Very conscientious, and while it's never "fun" to be in the chair while someone probes your mouth with sharp instruments, the staff make it as pleasant an experience as possible.

I've had my share of dental work and Dr. Erikson, Dr. Carmody and their staff are very professional. They were able to fit me in on short notice, with the Doctors being able to take care of my dental needs and I have been pleased with the results. I have since had other dental work with Pathway Dental and I highly recommend them to family, friends and anyone who wants their dental work done right.

The dentists, hygienists, and care staff are great and I was basically happy despite some difficulties getting appointments online as others reported. But this year the office staff are very frustrating, give inaccurate information about insurance coverage, the billing is incorrect, and they do *not* work with insurance companies as promised. In fact, I had to call the insurance company myself, and I have written to the practice three times to get the latest estimate filed properly. I know insurance can vary and the patient is responsible for what isn't covered--which is what they keep telling me instead of investigating and correcting their errors--but this office is not doing their part to provide fair and accurate pricing, as the insurance company confirmed. It is not right to spend hours of hassle just to get the services and information you need. I used to recommend this dentist, but now I am waiting to see if they will take this feedback to improve customer service and professionalism, and will adjust my rating up or down accordingly.
