Dr. Melissa Brandner-Otten is the main dentist at Parkside Dental, a native of South Dakota with over 16 years of experience in the dentistry profession. Her favorite part about dentistry is developing a relationship with patients and their families, motivating them to maintain good oral health and striving to provide them with a positive, pain-free, educational dental visit.
Working for 10 years at the Dental Clinic in Canton, SD before opening her own practice, Dr. Brandner-Otten has lived in the community of Tea for over a decade and is very happy to work and help create a positive impact in the community. A 1999 graduate of the University of Nebraskas College of Medicine and School of Dentistry, and completing over 100 course hours for Comprehensive Orthodontic Education, Dr. Brander-Otten also received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at NSU in Aberdeen, SD.
Alex graduated from Canton High School in 2011. He attended South Dakota State University for undergraduate studies and graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2019 in Milwaukee, WI. Alex has been practicing dentistry in the Sioux Falls area since receiving his Doctotorate.
Shari was born in LeMars, IA and moved to Tea in the 5th grade with her mom and Stepdad. Shari joined our team in August of 2020, after she moved back home from serving in the Air Force. Her family consists of her dad Matt S, her Stepdad who lives in Tea, and Late mother Karen H along with her five siblings, two of which are also serving in the Military. Shari is furthering her education at the school of EMS in Sioux Falls, SD. She enjoys reading, watching movies, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
Laura is one of our dedicated Dental Assistants and has been a part of the Parkside Dental Team since April 2013. Laura has been happily married for 3 years to her husband Cory. Together they have 2 pets, Bailey their Black Lab German Shepard, and cat Camille.
Shari is happily married to her husband David and stays very busy spending time with her 3 children, 4 step children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, wood working, bowling, playing darts and going for motorcycle rides, and last but not least, spending time with friends and family.
Shari is very knowledgeable, willing to help in any way possible and will always greet you with a warm smile. She is a huge asset to our practice. She will be very happy to see you at your next scheduled visit.
Nikki is currently living in Tea, SD with her significant other, Max. Her family members include parents Rick and Sherry Koehler of Groton, SD, her brother Ryan Koehler and wife Mara along with their daughter Lainey of Canton, SD, her older sister Ashleigh Koehler of Scottsdale, AZ, and younger sister Katie Koehler who is currently a student at NSU in Aberdeen SD.
Tammy was born and raised in Lead, SD in the beautiful Black Hills, she moved to Juneau, Alaska in 1998 and then moved back to the Eastern part of SD in 2017. She currently lives in Hartford, SD and has been part of our Dental Hygiene Team since May 2020.
Her family members include her parents Lawrence and Edith of Lead, SD, two younger brothers Charlie and Rodney, and her two children, daughter Winter and son Keegan and her English Springer Spaniel Harper.

Huge thank you to Dr Broesder and Jade and the front desk staff for my visit today. It takes a lot for me to walk into a dental office due the dental shame/embarrassment of having the issues I do and a bit of dental anxiety. When I was looking this office was highly recommended and I can see why! They were so kind , I didnt feel judged or looked down on , I felt they honestly wanted to help in the best way they could in a way that was affordable and doable for me. In a previous discussion about my dental anxiety it really seemed like Dr Broesder gets it and is very aware of what his patients need and is watchful and concerned they have a comfortable good experience ! Thank you all for being so kind and understanding! I look forward to coming here for dental!

It was my lucky day when I found Dr. Broesder and Parkside Dental. I was interested in 3D dentures and Dr. Broesder, who specializes in dentures, loves fulfilling his patients requests for the latest innovative 3D dentures. Mine are gorgeous, fit perfectly, and I am so grateful I found Dr. Broesder. He is very personable, professional and he knows his stuff. Parkside Dental is a beautiful and friendly dental facility. My gratitude goes out to them.

I recommend Parkside Dental to everyone!! The staff always greet you with a genuine smile when you walk in the door. The office is top notch with all of the best equipment. Great atmosphere. The wait time is minimal. My hygienist is so thorough and personable. Dr. Melissa Brandner Otten is awesome. Always cheery, takes her time with the exam or procedure and also is always smiling.
