Dr. Clayton T. Parks is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master of Science, and certificate in orthodontics. He became certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2005 and recertified in 2020.
Dr. Parks and his wife Kim have two grown children, John and Lindsay. They live in rural Cedar Rapids with their two Australian Shepherds. Dr. Parks enjoys treating children, adolescents, and adults. He has special interests in clear aligner therapy, orthognathic surgery and temporary implant anchorage.
In addition to being an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Iowa, he is a member of numerous prestigious dental organizations and served as president of the Linn County Dental Society in 2010. Dr. Schmit is a member of the following organizations:

This place is very warm and inviting. Staff are very kind and knowledgeable!!!! Bonus for entertaining young ones with a mini game arcade. Best decision ever for my sons future braces!!!

Really nice people and super attentive to detail. They were able to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment after I was having issues with my bonded retainer. Definitely looking forward to coming back here the next time I need to.

Both of my sons went to Parks & Schmit for their orthodontia needs and both now have an even more beautiful smile, which I didn't think was possible. So very happy with the results! I would recommend them any time. Top notch, courteous staff. We love Dr. McManus and all assistants and office staff!

I absolutely love the staff here I was far back on the waiting list but they got me in really quick. Once my insurance was approved I instantly got my spacers and impressions. I'll be getting my braces in about 3 days and I had friends who go here who have their braces. I heard how great this place was from them. I highly recommend coming here! All around amazing place!

I absolutely love the staff here I was far back on the waiting list but they got me in really quick. Once my insurance was approved I instantly got my spacers and impressions. I'll be getting my braces in about 3 days and I had friends who go here who have their braces. I heard how great this place was from them. I highly recommend coming here! All around amazing place!

Came to town from Florida to visit family for a couple weeks and my son's wire on his braces needed fixed. Our orthodontist is in Florida and we didn't know what to do. We arrived unannounced at this office and Dr. Parks was so professional and kind! He saw my son immediately and fixed his braces until we could get back home. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and care from the staff that I wish this was my son's orthodontist!!! I recommend this practice to anyone looking for top notch Ortho care! Thanks a million Dr. Parks!
