While Dr. Jones was courteous and did great work on my teeth, his office's billing practices were not as thorough and resulted in hundreds of dollars of surprise costs that were not disclosed upfront. Before my procedure, his staff sent me a breakdown of costs assuring me that they had checked with my insurance on what was covered and what I would owe out-of-pocket. A few weeks after my procedure and settling what I owed out-of-pocket, I was surprised with an additional bill of hundreds of dollars. Initially, the staff blamed the insurance company for this oversight, however, after I followed up with my insurance, the staff member admitted that they had neglected to thoroughly check with my insurance company before I went ahead with the procedure per standard practice. Had they done so, I would've simply waited to get my procedure done 3 months later when it would become eligible to be covered by my insurance. The matter was brought to Dr. Jones' attention and he declined to take ownership of the extra cost as a gesture of good faith considering it was a result of his office's neglect. I will not be returning as a patient and strongly recommend that anyone who is one put in the extra time/effort to double-check his office's proposed costs with their insurance company.

Office adhered to all COVID Protocols, very organized with scheduling, good communication, pleasant and professional. Dr. Jones gave a very thorough exam and took time to point out some dental issues that may evolve over time but no pressure to address immediately. Very pleasant experience for my first visit to the office.

Dr. Mark A Jones accommodated me and my busy work schedule and squeezed me in on a last minute appt. I had to have a tooth pulled, filling repaired, rebuilt tooth, and polish my root canal tooth. YES, Dr Jones did all that in one appt. He has the BEST High Technology Dentist tools. Yes, I took alot of needles, but Dr Jones numbs the area 1st. So I have no swelling, no pain. Dr Jones is the BEST. Plus before he starts working , he let's you know ALL your options and tries to save your teeth before jus pulling .

Dr. Jones and the staff members are amazing. Dr. Jones took the time to answer all my questions/concerns and he explained everything thoroughly. The staff also checked my insurance and my out of pocket costs prior to my appointment, so I did not have any surprise costs. They are all truly great and I am happy to have found a trust worthy dentist since moving to North Carolina.

Sorry, this is long but I felt the need to be thorough. During my first appointment with Dr. Jones, I was told I had 6 cavities that immediately needed to be filled. Given I had never in my life had a cavity, I decided to get a second opinion. I actually got 3 second opinions (I don't play when it comes to my health!!). All three dentists said that I did not in fact have cavities. The markings on my X-ray were all independently diagnosed by three different dentists as incipient lesions (pre-cavities or even pre-cavities that have been remineralized). Many old school dentists like to drill away at these before they get a chance to spread. The latest research supports watching these incipient lesions and attempting to remineralize the enamel to stop the spread of the decay. This can be done by means of good dental hygiene including regular flossing, fluoride treatments & prescription toothpastes. Of course, it's not guaranteed. Drilling and filling should be a last resort if the lesion begins to spread as revealed by serial X-rays over the course of multiple visits to the dentist. A good dentist compares X-rays to see if these cavities show any changes. I'm not a dentist nor am I attempting to give advice but I thought this was interesting. None of this was explained to me while I was getting my exam. All of this I learned from other dentists. I was just told by this office that I had 6 cavities and needed them filled as soon as possible. (Also, this may have been an honest mistake but I was told in the office that I had 6 cavities but later received an email estimate for only 5 cavities.) I wholeheartedly believe Dr. Jones has his patients' best interests at heart. He is very kind and immediately makes you feel comfortable. However, I believe his approach is a bit aggressive and maybe even a bit antiquated. As a nurse myself, I look for health professionals who use an approach that presents the least risks to the patient when possible while also implementing the most recent, up to date clinical research. TLDR: Very kind dentist but if you sit down in that chair and are suddenly prescribed a lot of work (especially if you have no significant dental history), definitely get a second opinion!!

Update: I had an infection in a tooth. After penicillin prescription, I had a root canal appt a month later. I had been in a lot of pain but was hopeful. The first half of the root canal was fine. But then it became extremely painful. My entire jaw was screaming in pain. Dr. Jones filled root canal with medicine with another appointment scheduled to finish root canal. I had a terrible night of pain. The next morning my face was extremely swollen. I went to another dentist since I knew Dr. Jones was off. She showed me the two fractures in my tooth on X-rays. But because the swelling, I couldn't be numbed locally. I had to go to an oral surgeon immediately. They considered it an emergency and my husband was called. At the oral surgeon, I was put under and the tooth was removed. It was a very painful and costly experience. I decided to switch dentists.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jones' for about 10 years. He is an utmost professional, and just a great man (humble, hard working, loves his family--this is his solo practice). He's the first dentist who checked underneath my tongue for cancer, and on a set of x-rays even pointed out that I had clogged maxillary sinus. I have moved since I started with him but refuse to switch providers. Happy to drive from northern Hillsborough to see Dr. Jones.

This was my first visit to Park West Dental and I had a great experience. When I called to make my appointment, Megan, the front office admin, was very helpful in assisting me right away and got all the necessary paperwork emailed to me prior to my visit. Even after my visit, when I called to request some additional information, she was able to email it to me right away. Going to the dentist is never a "fun" time, so I appreciated the staff's friendly interactions and concern that my visit went well. I did not mind waiting in my car until they were ready to do my cleaning as I completely understood the need for safety in the COVID-19 era. That let me know they prioritized everyone's safety. Dr. Jones and his dental assistant did an excellent job putting me at ease in the chair and were always careful to explain everything that was happening during my cleaning. Dr. Jones was professional, friendly, and clearly very experienced in this field. I would gladly recommend this dental practice to anyone.
