Dr. Merrell and Dr. Kryszan do things a little differently compared to most dentists. When Dr. Merrell was 16, he needed to have jaw surgery because his jaw was located too far back, which negatively impacted his bite and how he was able to chew food. Prior to this surgery, hed undergone four years of braces, extractions, and various other procedures, which just werent enough to correct the problem. He was extremely nervous at first, but his dental providers answered all of his questions and talked him through what was happening step by step, which put his mind at ease. He ended up having to stay in the hospital overnight and couldnt open his jaw for six weeks he could only drink shakes through a straw!
While it was definitely uncomfortable, it would have been much scarier if Dr. Merrell hadnt gotten that transparent communication. The experience always stuck with him, and today, he strives to clearly explain procedures to his patients while working hard to make sure they feel completely at ease at every stage of care.
Dr. Merrell pursued his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University in Utah, followed by his dental doctorate at Ohio State University. While there, he was the President of the Academy of LDS Dentists, led study groups, and assisted younger students in clinical skills. He became certified in advanced anesthesia and also did extra assisting in various clinics, including graduate endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, and emergency treatment. Today, he regularly pursues three times the amount of the required continuing education hours a year so that his skills stay sharp and up to date!
Dr. Merrell met his wife Laura during their first week at college, and theyve now been together for almost a decade. She works as a nurse practitioner at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. They also have a young daughter named Jane, and their world definitely revolves around her! When he isnt busy caring for teeth, his #1 priority is spending time with family. They go on bike rides together and visit various places like nearby parks, the Columbus Zoo, and the Franklin Conservatory. He also stays connected with his parents, five siblings, and other family members through regular Zoom calls from across the country.
As for personal hobbies, Dr. Merrell enjoys working out and especially creating exercise guides for family and friends. Hes a youth group leader at his church and attends weekly while also volunteering for various activities. Other interests include reading books, playing video games/board games, and traveling especially to the beach!

I had a dental emergency and went to Park Street Dental as a first time patient. Dr. Merrell and the staff were extremely helpful and incredibly nice! Would highly recommend!

Very friendly. You are in and out as quick as possible. They are very professional. There dental work is at affordable price. I got implants for about $15,000 less then a few other dentist I tried before I tried park Street dental. One of the best dentist I been to in the last 65 years.

Love these guys. Always helpful and gentle. Understanding staff and Dr. Merrell is the best. I have to pay out of pocket but they have terrific pay plans. Go see for yourself. Promise you won't be disappointed.

Had a tooth needing extracted, ended up being more than a simple pull of the tooth. The Doctor and all staff were incredible, made sure i was comfortable at all times. Proud to call this my new dentist office. My one and only complaint was i was given no pain killer to ease the pain.

I'm not one for negative reviews HOWEVER... my crowns do not at all match what my teeth use to look like. I had 3 done at once. I brought it to Brian's attention and he said they looked fine even after I showed him a picture of what my teeth look like before hand. He told me he would charge me half to do them again. When I tell you they look nothing like my teeth before, they look shorter and smaller. My smile is not the same. It makes me very sad. I would encourage you to bring a picture before and be very adamant that they should look the same when you leave. Unfortunately I have not been back with my family and have found another place.
