Park Dental Care - General dentist in Astoria, NY

This is the story of why two generations of dentists makes all the difference when it comes to choosing a dentist. For nearly 30 years in Queens, the Caiafa familys distinguished reputation for fine restorative dentistry has been well known to those in the area.

The history of their practice traces back to the 1960s, when Dr. Gene Caiafa, Sr. completed dental training during one of this eras most competitive periods for new dentists. Building a thriving, successful practice from scratch, without partners or start-up capital, was not easy then. Yet Dr. Gene, Sr., managed to pass along his professional dedication to his son, Dr. Gene, Jr., who carries the torch today.

Continuing this tradition, Dr. Gene Caiafa, Jr. brings to the practice his own preeminent training in state-of-the-art approaches to cosmetic dentistry. This background, coupled with their inheritance of old-fashioned patient care values, presents a powerful benefit to patients seeking the best of both worlds tradition and technology.

Yes, there are hundreds of dentists to choose from today. And there are many dedicated and fine artisans among their ranks. But finding a practice with a distinct and tangible difference one that costs the patient nothing additional makes all the difference when it comes to keeping healthy.

Root Canal Therapy It is best to refrain from eating for at least 2 hours and until the anesthesia has worn off to prevent possibly injury to your soft tissue. This will also allow the temporary restorative material to harden. You will most likely feel soreness in the area as well as pressure when you bite down. For this reason, you should avoid hard and chewy foods. Do not eat on the treated side of your mouth for at least 24 hours. The soreness should decrease within a week. Take any antibiotic medication prescribed to you by the doctor as this will eliminate any remaining infection in the tooth. If you notice any of the following symptoms please contact our office:

Permanent: When the final restoration is placed, your bite may feel a little different. This is just your mouth adjusting to the new addition. If it still feels off in a few days, please call the office for a slight adjustment.

Sensitivity: Sensitivity to hot and cold is to be expected following treatment. For the first few days, try to avoid extremely hot or cold foods and beverages. It is normal to have discomfort in the gums around the tooth after the anesthesia wears off. If you feel discomfort in the gum tissue, rinse the area with warm salt water. You can also take an Advil.

Scaling and Root Planning After your scaling or root planning, it is best to rinse your mouth 2-3 times per day with warm salt water. One teaspoon salt / 8 oz. water. You should start home care immediately, although you should be extremely gentle with the treated areas. If you feel discomfort in the gum tissue where you had treatment, an Advil or Tylenol may be taken to relieve this feeling. The treated areas will probably be sensitive to hot and cold. It is best to refrain from eating any hard or chewy foods for the next 48-72 hours while the treated area begins to heal. You may also experience some swelling or jaw stiffness. If this does occur, you can place a cold compress on the swelling or a hot towel on the stiffness. Smoking should be terminated for a period of 48-72 hours following these procedures. Please contact the office if the pain or swelling persists.

If you feel discomfort in the gum tissue, rinse the area with warm salt water. You can also take an Advil or Tylenol if the discomfort persists.

Home Care: It is important to resume regular brushing and flossing immediately. It is very important to thoroughly clean the area between the veneer and the tooth at the gumline. A consistent daily home care routine will increase the longevity of the restoration.

Eating: You should start with liquids and very soft foods for the first 24-48 hours following the surgery. If the area feels a little better, you can then move on to a normal diet. Be careful of chewing on hard foods near the surgical area.

Pain & Swelling: It is normal to experience some degree of swelling. If you do experience swelling, you can place ice over your face for 20-30 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours. This should help to reduce pain and swelling. Do not ice after the first 36 hours. If you feel discomfort, it is recommended that you take an Advil or Tylenol to ease the pain. If the pain persists, please contact the office.

Wow I cannot say enough good things about This dentist office. Dr W Seid was the best dentist I've ever had the pleasure of sitting in his chair. I went to my dentist that I've been going to for near 40 years, that dentist told me I had 5-6 cavities, I called pro health and they gave me an appt. Very quickly. Not only did Dr. Seid find out that I had no cavities, he did a cleaning and a little touch up work, I now feel like I can tow a truck with my mouth. Never have my teeth looked better/ felt stronger and cleaner than they have ever been in my life!! They're pricing was extremely fair. The dental work that was done like I said my mouth has never felt better nor looked better. I highly recommend this dentist for anyone or everyone, especially if your not 110% satisfied with your prior dentist. I cannot thank Dr. Seid enough nor pro health dentist on 2914 ditmars blvd. Hands down the best dental experience I've ever had no question about it. Thank you pro health and Dr. Seid for you gave me my smile and confidence back. Highly highly recommended.

Ok ... I don't know where to start but I can't believe that I just had x- rays done today in California ( moved here ) and the 2 root canals i just have done 8 month ago are falling apart .... I did two root canals and two crowns and a filling on a third tooth ( infection found and root canal needed in the 3rd one ) ... I used all insurance funds and paid out of pocket for a s...... job .... Also , the wait time outside and inside and the rude people who just work to get money money money..... I'm soooooo sad and furious that all my time and money were gone !!!!!! Terrible terrible... I wish I can't give ZERO stars

Park dental is the WORST!!! They took advantage of me they forced me to get a mold of my teeth so that they could submit to my insurance company and they claimed that they had done thousands of dollars worth of work to my teeth but the truth is that they haven't done anything they collected thousands of dollars and they prevented me from getting work done in the future on those very teeth numbers that work there are unprofessional and unethical an ally often the owner is a liar as well I don't understand how they're still in business. Also, while I was getting major work done. , to dentists starting have a 29 min casual conversation about their plans for that weekend. Right in front of me while I was on the chair. I couldn't believe it. This place is the absolute WORST!!!

This place is the worst!! After waiting over 1hr & 30mins to be seen. They finally took me back to WAIT MORE!!! I parked at a 2 hr meter so I had to run out to put more money quickly. (Keep in mind the dentist still didn't come in to evaluate me yet ) no less than 10-15 secs I returned back and they put another patient in the same room that I was assigned to!! Extremely overbooked. Unbelievable and the worst customer service ever!! Never again!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone. They also quote you out of pocket for procedures that your insurance will cover.

This place is horrible . Went in a while back for an Invisalign consultation - the dentist was such a rude man . Extremely unprofessional... I would look for WAY better options in the neighborhood. Save yourself the trouble ... go somewhere else !

This place is a factory. Go here if you hate yourself and you want goofy service. The last 2 times I was here I had to wait because they overbooked and then the dentist "left early." I've been trying to get on for over the past month for a simple cleaning and been rescheduled 2x during that process. Shameful. Plenty of other dental offices in Astoria. No reason to go to a stand comedy show anymore, just come here. They might have a netflix special coming out soon.

I went here years ago, I went for a clean up . I know my teeth where not in good shape at the time that's why I went to the dentist. The man who gave me the cleaning was complaining out loud to himself on how disgusting my teeth is. Very unprofessional on his part. That's all I heard from him saying. Yes I know it was. That's the reason why people go to a dentist. I will never go to this place ever again.. made me feel uncomfortable.

Very poor customer service to the fat guy always smoking a cigarette at the front desk to their dentists. I remember going for an appointment not having insurance and there weren't many issues but once I got insurance from my job suddenly I had several problems. I received a crown operation and my gums got infected. After going to NYU dental they told me the poor job they did and to request a refund.
