Park Avenue Dental - General dentist in Gainesville, FL

Some years ago, two brothers and proud Gainesville natives sought out careers in dentistry, where they could combine their passion for direct client interaction with the technical components of health. Shane and Cody Goslinga embarked on their own journeys after graduating from the University of Florida College of Dentistry, but soon realized they wanted to continue their mission of providing professional and compassionate dental services together.

Park Avenue Dental proudly opened its doors in 2008, but the practice has been in Gainesville since 1978. Since 2008, Dr. Shane and Dr. Cody have prioritized a comprehensive yet gentle dental approach in a fun, family atmosphere, making Park Avenue Dental the place it is today!

We also offer partner with CareCredit. CareCredit makes it easier to get the treatment you need now through no interest financing options for high deductible plans or procedures not often covered by insurance.

As licensed and educated dentists, we work to help you achieve and maintain optimal oral health. We will thoroughly explain your treatment options and inform you of additional preventative care. Our goal is to provide a trusting doctor/patient relationship and to relieve any stress you might have about seeing a dentist.

Regularly visiting the dentist enables you to maintain both the functionality and health of your teeth and mouth. Routine dental work will assist in preventing tooth decay, bad breath, and stains, protecting against periodontal disease as well as detecting cavities. Additionally, oral hygiene is closely related to the health of other organ systems, such as cardiovascular and respiratory systems. To optimize your overall health and guarantee that you have strong, healthy teeth throughout the duration of your lifetime, it is important to visit the dentist at least two times per year.

Choosing the right dentist is a big decision. Whether you are seeking top-of-the-line technology, affordable services, or a personalized experience, it is important to ask yourself and the office staff questions to determine if they will meet the expectations of your dental experience. Your questions should address the following topics:

For healthy patients seeking regular cleanings and checkups, visiting the dentist every six months is advised. Patients of all ages children, teens, and adults should go to the dentists at least twice a year in order to receive the routine dental maintenance that prevents major dental problems. Patients who are at risk for various dental problems, which include gum disease or oral cancer, and patients who have recently received more involved dental treatments, should visit the dentist more frequently.

Brushing two or three times a day is ideal, as this brushing frequency will stop bacteria growth without wearing down tooth enamel. Brush your teeth for two minutes at a time, keeping your brush at a slight angle. Only use the same toothbrush for three to four months or until it begins to fray, and always change your toothbrush after you have been sick. Choose a toothbrush with bristles that are soft but not overly soft, as they must be sturdy enough to remove plaque.

Floss at least once a day, before going to bed if possible, as nighttime flossing helps your teeth combat plaque buildup while you sleep. Flossing helps eliminate plaque buildup that a toothbrush simply cannot remove. Bleeding gums are normal for the first few times you floss but should stop over time as your gums get used to flossing.

At Park Avenue Dental, we recommend scheduling their first checkup at six months, or at the latest, by their first birthday. At this age, your childs first tooth should be visible, and therefore, this is a very important time to begin monitoring for minor problems before they become major concerns.

This is the best dental office I've ever been too (I have moved a lot so I've been to several). The staff is genuinely friendly. The office looks and smells clean. The wait is little to none. The office space is updated and trendy. My teeth always look and feel amazing after each cleaning. The technology is up to date. They are also GREAT with children. I love this place!!

First visit - very impressed with the attention by staff and Dr. They explained everything that was going to take place during this initial intensive exam. High tech office. I am confident they will help me take excellent care of my teeth, gums etc. Very happy. I returned 2 days later for my cleaning. Definitely have found my 'dental home'. I tired to post a new review for 11/22/2019 when I had an appointment about my problem I have with my night guard (made by a previous Dentist) that was causing me problems. Dr Cody and staff knew exactly what to do. I have a temporary device, and they took new impressions and I am looking forward to a new mouth guard in a few weeks. Thtese folks are great.

I have been a patient here since 1993 when it was Dr. Jay Herrington. My very first visit was for a root canal. I was extremely nervous having never met Dr. Herrington before this and the fact that I do not like to go to the dentist. My fears melted quickly as soon as he entered the room. I had never in my life met a more kind and compassionate dentist. Now that it is Park Avenue dental with Dr. Shane and Dr. Cody we are still patients. My boys started with Dr. Herrington and are now 19 and 16 and equally love Dr. Shane and Dr. Cody. They always make them feel important. Always asking how they are doing in school and sports as well as what they have been up to. Let's not forget about the staff. They are awesome and always smiling and friendly. While there have been a few new faces, there's one that has been there since before I started and that's Kim. Always friendly and caring. We will never go anywhere else.

I have been a patient here for about 6+ years (I missed a few in between- my fault) and I absolutely love the staff and Dr's here. I have anxiety when it comes to dental appointments, even for a simple cleaning. I let them know if I'm feeling anxious & they quickly calm me. Everyone is so kind, caring, compassionate & I actually look forward to my appointments. I never feel pressure to have work done and it's NEVER about $$. They truly care about you. Also, I love that the office is up to date, clean and has pictures & positive sayings on each of the tv/computer screens.
