Dentistry is a part of who I am. Growing up, I frequently visited my fathers dental practice in Toronto, Canada where my mother was also a dental assistant. Seeing how much my father enjoyed dentistry made me realize, I too, could enjoy the profession as much as he still does. My fathers family is Portuguese, and anyone familiar with Portuguese families knows they are full of love and lively personalities. This is what I grew up watching, learning and experiencing in my fathers dental practice that eventually inspired me to pursue dentistry for myself.
For high school, I moved to Michigan to study at Great Lakes Adventist Academy where I met my wife-to-be, Nadine. Although Nadine was a grade ahead of me, we decided to start dating when I was a senior in high school and she was a freshman in college. Unfortunately, that meant we barely saw each other that year because she lived at college three hours away! Many phone calls were made that year and our relationship only grew from there.
Once I graduated high school, I joined Nadine at Andrews University in southwest Michigan and completed a four year degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. Nadine, a native Floridian, finished her nursing program a year before I finished my degree and moved back home with her parents to work for a year. That year, we also got engaged, but we were apart that year as well.
The summer after I graduated from Andrews University, Nadine and I got married and moved out to Loma Linda, California for my dental education at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Nadine also furthered her education and now has her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Our time in California was filled with so many adventures. We spent time hiking in the mountains of Southern California and the Sierra Nevadas. Some of our favorite trips in California involved travelling to the central coastal areas of Cambria and Big Sur. If you ever have a chance to visit the central coast of California, you will not be disappointed!
Finishing dental school meant the start of the real-world dentistry for me. I had a great job opportunity in Hagerstown, Maryland where I spent the first three years post-graduation from dental school practicing dentistry at a very busy practice. I was fortunate to have a great job learning the ins-and-outs of dentistry from many mentors. Meanwhile, Nadine started working for a cardiology group as a nurse practitioner. We enjoyed living in the Cumberland Valley area and spent many hours outside enjoying hikes with our friends and helping with events at our church. Nadine and I also developed a passion for living a Whole-Foods, Plant-Based Lifestyle.
My wife and I always wanted to return to Florida to live near family and we made it a reality in October of 2019! We absolutely love the Lakewood Ranch area and now live here too. We try to spend as much time outside as we can, taking advantage of the beautiful Florida weather. We frequently visit the beach and spend time with our family here. We love playing board games and one of my favorites is Chess.
Once we finished our move to Florida, I started searching for a dental practice to purchase. Several years prior, I had decided to start learning about purchasing and owning a dental practice and started meeting many dentists in the Bradenton area as soon as we moved here. The door opened for me to purchase Paradise Dental and in July of 2020 my dream of owning a dental practice became a reality!
I am very blessed to have a great team with me at Paradise Dental. My mission for our community is to positively influence the health of our patients at Paradise Dental by first building trusting relationships and then providing quality dental care. It is difficult finding a good dentist, and I will strive to be that dentist for you.

My wife and I have been a long term patients at Paradise Dental. Dr Martins and his staff are very professional and friendly. Today I had an unexpected situation arise and Rosey got me in right away. I ended up having a rather extensive procedure that took a couple of hours. I think the staff was planning to close early today as they were going on vacation yet everyone stayed and took great care of me, especially Jennifer who has been with Dr Martins almost since the beginning. Dr Martins and his team utilize the latest technology and can tackle any situation. They take care of you as if you were a family member. I can't thank Rosey, Jennifer, Katie and Dr Martins enough!

I was a patient here for close to 10 years with Dr. Castro. I came once after Dr. Martins took over. I had my next appointment scheduled, and a few days before, I was informed they would not be accepting Delta Dental any longer, but I was welcome to still come. Huh? After working in a dental office for over 15 years, I felt this was unprofessional. I'm sure he's a wonderful dentist, but after many years, my husband and I are going elsewhere.

I enjoy going to the dentist now. Paradise has been great for me. Regular cleanings and other issues are always resolved to my satisfaction. Jenn is particularly awesome at treating me!

I went for a cleaning and as I entered everyone was so nice and made sure that I was good the two people that helped me were Jennifer and Charmaine and they did a great job taking care of me.

Great family practice!! Everyone there is so nice. They all truly care about your well being. Rosie at the front is amazing. She definitely makes you feel comfortable as you come in. I had a cleaning by Charmaine. She was great. So thorough and gentle. I barely felt anything and she explained to me what was happening. Absolutely a great place!!

Charmaine... WOW what an amazing skilled hygienist - Loree.. so darn sweet and calming. Jenn ae, crown queen! Petra .. kind hearted always accommodating and welcoming at the front. Katie, well what can I say she is a joy and a light !!! Doc .. gentle as can be hands down BEST bedside manner EVER, truly caring. Phenomenal office!

Let me just say...WOW! I have never been to a dental practice where they took such great care of me! My experience with everyone in the office is phenomenal! From Rosie greeting me and making me feel so welcome, the assistants Jenn and Loree for both helping me with my services, to each hygienist Katie and Charmaine doing my exam and cleanings. They are so gentle and listen to my concerns which I've never had before. And can't forget Dr. Martins who cares about what is best for me and takes his time so he can really understand what I want for my dental health. I highly recommend this office and truly feel apart of their dental family!

My wife and I have been a patient at Paradise Dental for about 10 years. Dr. George Castro ran the practice until he retired, and Dr. Jeffrey Martins is now the dentist in charge. Everybody at the practice has been pleasant and friendly. However, a recent experience was NOT pleasant. I needed to get 2 crowns made and put in @ a cost of over $3,000. During one of my visits, the dental assistant, Jen, accidentally "flipped" the crown down my throat. Fortunately, no harm was done as the crown passed through my system like a piece of food. Dr. Martins arranged for me to have an X-Ray to make sure it was not lodged somewhere it shouldn't be. The crown was re-made and installed properly at my last visit. For all my extra trouble and bother, I expected a reduction in my final bill. This did not happen. I have concluded that profits matter more at the new Paradise Dental than customer relations.

All I can say is that Paradise Dental is a great place for dental work. Dr. Martin and staff are the best. They are really nice and caring people and make coming to the dentist about as good as you could make it. Your caring attitude helps me make sure I come take care of my teeth. Thanks.

I was scheduled for a routine cleaning and the service that I received from the receptionist to my wonderful technician Katie to the dentist,Dr.Martins, was professional in every way. If you're in search of a new dental home, Paradise Dental is a very good choice!

Wow. Just wow. Dr. Martin's and all the folks are the best ever. Nicest office I've ever been to. I had a dental emergency and he got everything taken care of writhing 3 days. No pain while he repaired 3 teeth. Was a big job. Came out amazing. Such an awesome place.

This place is unprofessional. They only cleaned half of my mouth and the other half mouth was scheduled for another day. That appointment was cancelled multiple times and they never called me back to reschedule. Apparently they only have 1 dental hygienist. I never experienced this unprofessionalism with a dental office before.
