When I think of the word smile, I think of beauty and health. Your smile says a lot about you and the person you are. Its communicating without saying a word. A beautiful and a healthy smile can give a person the confidence they need to feel good about themselves. Research actually shows that smiling is good for your health. Even if you dont feel like smiling, making yourself smile will release chemicals in your body that are healthy for you.
When I was a teenager, my lower jaw started to grow abnormally and I needed jaw surgery. However, I couldnt get the surgery until I was 21 years old. I also needed to get braces before the surgery. When I was 20 years old, I had my braces put on. That was my first experience in the orthodontic field. I really enjoyed going to the orthodontist and when I was done with my treatment, I knew that I wanted to be an orthodontist. I wanted to change lives and make people feel good about themselves and their smiles.
What I enjoy the most about orthodontics are a couple of things. First, I get to meet great people every day. We see our young patients grow up and see them develop into young adults. I also love the facial changes that occur during orthodontic treatment. Some changes are very subtle but some are significant and life changing.
At Pana Orthodontics, we do things a bit differently. My philosophy is to treat the face first and then treat the teeth. Facial aesthetics is a key component of my practice. I just dont want to create beautiful smiles, I also want to create beautiful faces.
