Preventative dentistry is the area of dentistry aimed to help people prevent oral disease and its further development. Preventative dentistry includes not justin-office dental care, but at-home treatments as well.

The root canals of each tooth house nerve tissue and dental pulp, which contain blood vessels that provide nourishment. When this tissue becomes infected, a tooth may be in danger of dying. Without a root canal, patients may experience severe swelling, bone loss, inflammation, toothache, darkening of the tooth, gum soreness, and drainage problems.

A root canal procedure is usually recommended after other dental treatment options have been considered. It is a treatment that is used to save a tooth from extraction, an absolute last-resort option at our practice. Root canals are common in cases where large cavities have done too much damage to fix with a tooth-colored filling or dental crown. They are also used in cases where a tooth infection is simply too invasive to control.

If you are searching for a comprehensive dental team that can take care of all your familys dental needs, please contact us at Palo Alto Dental Care our root canal services are performed with a high level of quality and attention to detail. Trust the dental center that truly cares about creating beautiful, healthy smiles for life.

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association involving diagnosis and treatment of the pulp (root canal) and surrounding tissues of the tooth. When you look at your tooth in the mirror, what you see is the crown. The rest of the tooth, the portion hidden beneath the gum line, is called the root. Though the outer portion of the root is a hard tissue called dentin, the inside channel or root canal contains a pulp of soft tissue, blood vessels and nerves.

Periodontists are dentists who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease as well as the placement and maintenance of dental implants. A periodontist is one of the eight dental specialists recognized by the American Dental Association and has had extensive training with two additional years of study after dental school.

An orthodontist prevents and treats alignment problems in the mouth, teeth, and jaw. Using braces, retainers, and other devices, an orthodontist helps straighten a persons teeth and correct the way the jaws line up.

Orthodontists treat children for many problems, including crowded or overlapping teeth or problems with jaw growth and tooth development which can be genetic. These tooth and jaw problems may also be caused by tooth decay, losing baby teeth too soon, accidents, or habits like thumb sucking.

Not a good experience. Galina wanted me to pay right between my procedure. Then after the procedure plan given to perform unnecessary further procedures. Also Edgar at front desk will not share xrays with you. When you ask they will keep delaying it somehow or send you incorrect information. customer service as well as dental experience was not good at all. Felt cheated and they should be reported for BBB.

Many reasons for this 1-star review but summarized: Dr. Galina forces unnecessary procedures and does a terrible job on them. She carried out a filling, did a terrible job, tried to re-do it, and then did an even worse job. Had to go to a new dentist to fix the teeth she ruined. Details: 1) Dr. Galina decided to do a filling on a tooth. After she completed the filling, I was completely unable to chew or floss on/around that tooth for months. I went back to her to fix it, so she decided to redo the original tooth and then add a filling to the adjacent tooth. Two office visits and a few hundred dollars later, the teeth were in even worse condition. I was completely unable to chew on the left side of my mouth. I have since gone to a new dentist who has spent plenty of time figuring out what damage Dr. Galina did -- thankfully he has fixed it. 2) The new dentist said that the originally filling was probably not even necessary in the first place. Dr. Galina seems to have forced an unnecessary operation on me. 3) I assumed that any injections for the local anesthetic would inevitably be painful since it was always painful with Dr. Galina. I was wrong. When the area is properly numbed, the injections can be completely pain-free (something I had not experienced untill after leaving Dr. Galina's office) 4) The lady at the front desk and Dr. Galina are often times late to the appointments. I once had to wait outside the office until 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time for the lady at the front desk to come to the office.

Dr. Mikhail is pretty amazing, and so is the staff. I went in yesterday for an initial check up (new patient) and it was probably the most thorough check up I've had. Tori, the dental assistant, and the front desk receptionist, Lisa, are also beyond friendly. As someone who really is intimidated by dental visits, I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment. Thanks Dr. Mikhail! You're super appreciated!

Never thought I'd say it about a trip to the dentist, but it's always a pleasure at PA Dental. 10+ years in, the Nasakin team has always treated me with painless aplomb. Highest recommendation.

$163 for cleaning (as of July 2019) If you don't have insurance and think $163 for cleaning is reasonable, I guess this is an okay place to go. I stopped going to this place because my insurance covers two cleanings a year, and they kept insisting that I get cleaning every 4 month. The office (well, Dr. Mikhail, aka Dr. Michael) kept recommending me to do extra procedures and treatment, including orthodontic treatment. (He had recommended me to an orthodontist before, which I followed up on, and after I got done with my orthodontics treatment, he told me that I needed more correction, which would cost an additional $2000. I'm not sure if the office has orthodontic certification.) I'd been to this dental office for the last 3 years for a total of 6-7 visits, and I've seen the same hygienist no more than twice, which says something about the business if people who work there don't stay around long.

I've been a Palo Alto Dental customer for about five years and I'm extremely satisfied with the dental care I've gotten there. Dr. Mikhail Nasakin and all the staff are very professional, attentive, and friendly. I've never had to wait longer than a few minutes for my appointment. Also, the environment in this office is very clean and comfortable. I'd recommend Palo Alto Dental to anyone in the Palo Alto area!
