Dr. James Ho earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from Harvard University. He attended University of California, Santa Cruz for his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Computer and Information Sciences.
A member of the American Dental Association (A.D.A.) and California Dental Association (C.D.A.) and American Association for Functional Orthodontics (A.A.F.O.), Dr. Ho devotes 100% of his time in patient care using the most up-to-date, safe and proven treatment modality that Dr. Ho is uniquely qualified to share with his patients.
In a typical clinical setting, Dr. Ho explains in detail all possible alternate treatment procedures, and obtains consensus on the best treatment plan based on the patients need and resources. Many patients complement on Dr. Hos repertoire of dental skills that offer them one-stop dental care for all their oral health needs.
Dr. James Ho may not be your ultra specialist who promises a better face after he dissembles your entire skull and put it back together from pieces, but with a well-rounded, medical-dental education from Harvard, he immerses himself with such proven high-tech innovations as digital X-ray, hard- and soft-tissue laser, and CAD-CAM (CEREC) dentistry.
He gains rapport and trust from his patients by successfully reviving what several specialists and general dentists deem hopeless situations. To be sure, there is no magic wand that Dr. Ho can wave to make those miracles possible. Instead, he is able to employ all his skills and disciplines to evaluate and solve problems for each challenging situation. Dr. Sara Hamed-Negahdar completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at University of Southern California (USC) in 2014 and has been treating patients since. She completed her dual undergraduate degrees in Biology and Sociology at California State University, Northridge with honors (Cum Luda).
Dr. Hamed is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA) and Santa Clara County Dental Society (SCCDS) where she is a member of board of directors and serves on different committees, such as Community Service, Continuing Education and Editorial board. She has a long track record of giving back to the community through numerous mission trips to Ensenada, Mexico and Nairobi, Kenya as well as here in the states. She has a passion for bringing healthy smiles to patients faces and enjoys what she does everyday. She is known as the 'gentle dentist' with great chairside manner and communication skills.
Competent in performing all aspects of general dentistry using cutting edge technology and materials, Dr. Hamed constantly keeps up to date with new techniques and ways to provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for adults and children. Patients often express how comfortable Dr. Hamed makes them feel for any dental procedure, by first explaining the procedure in detail, answering any questions they might have and listening to their immediate dental concerns.
Dr. Pedro Avendao graduated with honors from the University of Chile. There he also served as a clinical instructor in fixed prosthodontics, crowns, bridges, as well as implants training for the International Team for Implantology Straumann (ITI). Prior to coming to California, he served as the director of a group of clinical practices in Santiago, Chile where he focused on Implants and Oral Rehabilitation. He is an active member of numerous dental societies in which he participates in lectures and continued education focused on Endodontics, Oral Surgery, and Implants. He assisted in a course on Implant Maxi at the Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. He is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry since 2011. Dr. Avendao enjoys mountain skiing and spending time with his family.
Dr. Eddy Wang graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, school of dental medicine in 2011 with the degree of DMD. He then completed the General Practice Residency at St. Elizabeth trauma level 1 hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. The post-graduate residency program there is very intense, providing dental care with severe dental injuries and infections.
Dr. Wang performs all phases of general dentistry including oral surgery and root canal treatments. He is extremely competent in cosmetic restorative procedures like crowns, veneers, bridges and dentures. Dr. Wang is also a certified Invisalign provider with many years of experience.
Dr. Wang speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese. His patients trust him to explain procedures thoroughly. His professionalism, patience, and gentle chairside manner makes him a favorite dental provider in our office.
Dr. Adam Shing Ka Wu grew up in Hong Kong and moved to America when he was 17. He graduated from UC Berkeley for his undergraduate studies in Economics, University of Arizona for his Master in Information Systems, and UCSFfor his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). While volunteering at a oncology clinic during his master studies, he saw the life-changing potential of health care and decided to pursue dentistry as a profession and means to serve his community around him. At UCSF, Dr. Wu was able to continue being involved in dental outreach to the community through health screenings and off-site clinics for the underserved.
Dr. Wu has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years. He believes open communication is critical to a good relationship with his patients so he will patiently explain in understandable terms what the issues are, and how he intends to proactively re-establish health. Communication is always a two-way street, so he welcomes any and all questions.
In his free time, Dr. Wu likes to explore local eateries and spend as much time outside as the San Francisco sun allows. He enjoys traveling, snorkeling, swimming, rock climbing, windsurfing, hiking and many other outdoor activities.

Being in the dental field for over 29 years, Maggie is a diligent and hands-on self-motivator with an energetic character. She has a passion for dentistry and has experience in many aspects, ranging from the front desk to the chair-side clinical assisting. Under the leadership of Dr. James Ho, Maggie has become a strong advocate for the best patient care to offer.
Born and raised in Northern California, Leslie comes from 3 generations of dentists and dental professionals. Havinggraduated from Sierra College with an A.S. degree in biology, Leslie has over 30 years dental experience. Leslie has lived in Bay area for close to 20 years now and currently resides in Millbrae, CA with her husband and 2 children.
Elaine Li is our front office manager specializing in treatment planning and insurance. She has many years experience running dental offices both here in the U.S. and in China.Elaine speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She oversees our patient's treatment and care with patience and experience, excelling in providing our patients with a truly comfortable dental experience and contributing to a family-like environment at Palo Alto Advanced Dentists.
As our front office coordinator, Colwin wears many hats in the office, ranging from insurance to patient care. With his experience in customer service & dental insurance, he strives to provide patients comfort and assurance in their experience at our office. Colwin graduated from University of the Pacific in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology and intends to apply for dental school in the summer. During his free time, Colwin enjoys learning new recipes, maintaining strength training, and learning amateur videography.

The first issue I have is the continuity of the dentists. Dr. Ho treated me well, and he was professional. Two months ago, I felt tooth pain but was referred to another doctor. She didn't diagnose me accurately and asked me to wait for two more weeks. Unfortunately, the lack of proactive instructions resulted in me receiving a root canal treatment during an international trip. Second, some staff is not responsible and money-obsessed. They put profits over customers. When I went to the clinic and had a follow-up root-canal treatment, they were unhappy because they would not gain many profits from my case. The front desk even mentioned that they have LOTS of customers and didn't care about losing one. I want to write this review mainly because our dental health is worth visiting a more responsible dental office. Yes, I'm not essential to your clinic, and I hope more people can read this review and reconsider their choice. Additionally, I will contact insurance to file complaints about their conduct and services and the possibility of overcharging.

1. They call me to change the schedule 3 times to accommodate them. 2. I went there to do the routine clean, and waited for 40 minutes. Doctor come, and took about 15 minutes to roughly finish his job, then they did the polish also quick and brutal. if that's all. I can understand that they might give tight schedule and in a hurry to get off work 3. Here comes the treatment plan. At the end they arranged a treatment plan for the cavity filling. Every single cavity filling was place along with another treatment called "Application of Desensitizing Medication " , which is not suppose to be a part of the routine treatment. This extra treatment does not covered by insurance so I have to pay extra $80 for each of the cavity filling plus $95 copay (i checked the insurance service list, it suppose to be 75). So in this plan I need to pay $175 for each cavity. 4. they say they can not remove this extra, and this treatment MUST come along with my cavity filling. 5. So I ask them to send a x-ray picture and they said I need to pay them around $40 service fee(I don't remember explicit what the price, but it is also ridiculous). 6. They charged me $10 for "unspecified diagnostic procedure".$114 for "Prophylaxis"(which basically means sensitizing?) I'm not sure what it means 7. The only thing good is they send me the receipt and treatment plan immediately. Thank you!

Dr Wu was very knowledgeable and patient, he explained very well to me the root cause of my issues and finished the procedure right away at the same visit, feel relieved! *Very gentle and caring for patient! The assistant Leslie was very kind and friendly as well, she knew I was nervous and tried to make feel comfortable! Overall the front desk lady is very polite although I was 10 mins late.

If I could give more stars, I would definitely do that. I came without appointment due to the emergency of my situation. And even though I've never been there before, and there were other patients, they accepted me immediately. Both the nurse and the doctor were very attentive, polite, and understanding. Dr. Avendano relieved me from excruciating toothache and gave valuable advice. I rarely write reviews but I think the quality of care I received deserves to be shared here.

I went to the Palo Alto Advanced Dentist for a deep cleaning and subsequently for wisdom tooth extraction in November. What defines the place is the doctors there. They are * extraordinary* and ensuring patient satisfaction ! I was initially so nervous visiting a dentist when the COVID 19 purple alert was on. But they take all the required precautions. I would very highly recommend them - they have the best doctors and very friendly staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Appointments are easy to schedule. The dentists are also very good, thorough, taking time to explain everything. Glad I switched to this group from my former dentist who was overcharging and double dipping! Finally a breath of fresh air!

Dr Wang is very acknowledgeable with my daughter on going problem with one of her teeth. He made sounded suggestions for us to choose before seeing our primary dr ho. My daughter received the treatment on the same day which she has been pain free since then. The reason for 4stars is one of the workers has been giving us confusing information such as keeping on suggesting other dentists in the office. We stick to this office because of the reputation of dr Ho.

PA Advance Dentists gets straight to the point on what I need and does not do a run around with me to get me for any extra things I have no knowledge of. They are very friendly and informative with a big sense of money saving for you as a client to do the most for you as you save as well. I would choose PAAD any time over any previous dental facilities I have gone before any day. Truly a great and warm experience every time, all the time.

I chose them because their work is impeccable with great attention to detail. It's easy to get an appointment and the location is very convenient for me. I feel like they are willing to work with each patient and their personal circumstances. When I needed my first crown they worked with me to do a partial crown which saved a larger portion of my tooth and would be better for me in the long run but was more difficult for them.

Palo Alto Advanced Dentists are Honest, skilled, and empathetic. I recently had a complex procedure done and Dr. Ho explained the whole process and did an amazing job! Maggie pays close attention to the details. Elaine is really welcoming! Palo Alto Advanced Dentists also offers the latest treatments such as LANAP and pinhole technique. I'm looking forward to working with them to work on my periodontitis and taking care of my teeth.

All the doctors and staff are very professional and friendly, and ensured that all your questions are answered. They really do care about their patients, and do everything they can to make your experience comfortable. I would highly recommend this dental practice

I have been a patient of Dr Ho for 15 years. He is very thorough and can handle many difficult situations. The other staff in the clinic are very professional and friendly. Even it takes 2 hours to drive to the clinic for every appointment , I did not change my dentist.
