Dr. Palmer, a pioneer in advanced dentistry, was among the first dentists nationwide to use CEREC. He incorporated the in-office restoration system in 1997. He has completed extensive Comprehensive Cosmetic Techniques training from the Baylor University. He has also received advanced training at the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

As a dedicated holistic dentist, Dr. Palmer is one of the few professionals trained in the safe removal of amalgam fillings. He uses IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) established procedures, and maintains awareness that anything affecting your mouth also affects your whole body. Dr. Palmer chose to establish the first Center for Dental Medicine in the region, with a vision of bridging the gap between the dental and medical communities. This helps in the identification of diseases in the mouth, which may have the potential for causing disease throughout the body.

Dr. Palmer is an accredited member of The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. He is a national speaker, as well as teaches the Fundamentals of Safely Removing Silver Mercury Fillings (amalgams) to members. He is a Board Certified Naturopathic Physician, with certifications from the American Naturopathic Certification Board and the Board of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry.

Listen to Dr. John Palmers experience of being a dentist for more than 36 years after graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina. How a sudden illness changed his approach towards dentistry and what he now offers to all his guests at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville, SC

I have been practicing for 36 years graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina. I started up practicing like every other dentist does until I became ill from mercury poisoning and that kind of changed the way I looked at dentistry.

On the course of the way, I went through a period where I took a lot of aesthetic training, cosmetic dentistry type things and moved away from metals and developed a way to practice without metals and using more biocompatible materials over the years. We got a lot of special equipment and high-tech equipment.

I was one of the first in the country to use the CAD/CAM dentist to make crowns, we got the newest version of that system its the CEREC system, we have a laser that is able to prepare a cavity in a tooth usually with no anesthetic it eliminates the drill, digital x-ray, 3D x-rays. You name it I think we have it.

Five star review from Google Palmer distinctive dentistry was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. They treat you with respect and everyone is very courteous. Pricing is reasonable and the work I had done was quick and painless. Although the time the doctor spent explaining all the options was priceless.

Holistic dentistry, also called biocompatible or biological dentistry, is a philosophy in which care is provided with a health-conscious approach. Many individuals and families are turning towards 'alternative' healthcare in an effort to achieve better overall health and wellness. Where there are certain advantages to traditional medicine, there are also a great many benefits that come from stepping outside the box and working with a discerning health care provider who is dedicated to personalized care.

Your holistic dentist sees your oral health in the frame of the big picture. Our team recognizes the power of a healthy, beautiful smile. We also know what can come of poor oral health. Toxins, infection, and even certain dental materials can affect the overall health and functionality of the entire body. Care of the teeth and gums, with this fact in mind, takes on a whole new importance.

At Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville, SC, our goal is to help our guests achieve better oral and general health through treatments that are effective and biocompatible. Our approach to dental care is such that the entire body should benefit. Certainly, the dental treatments and materials used to address your dental concerns should not stand in the way of your best health.

Holistic dental care extends beyond preventing, diagnosing, and treating dental diseases. We get to know our guests so that we may become familiar with not only their oral anatomy but also their medical history and lifestyle habits as they relate to oral health. This familiarity, which is also facilitated with advanced imaging like digital x-rays, allows us to customize care to the individual.

Most people associate holistic dentistry with the avoidance of silver mercury fillings (amalgams). Indeed, we do not place amalgam fillings due to their containment of toxic mercury. Dr. Palmer has earned fellowship to The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and demonstrates for other professionals this organization's specific procedures for the removal of amalgam fillings. His extent of knowledge and experience benefits his guests whether they have amalgam fillings to remove or they are interested in tooth replacement with dental implants.

Holistic dentistry may be considered 'alternative,' but this approach to dental care is becoming more recognized for its amazing benefits. Experience the difference at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry. Call (864) 879-6494 for your visit today.

Dr. Palmer and his staff demonstrated courtesy, great concern for my comfort and attention to every detail in my recent visit. I loved the in and out in 1 1/2 hours to remove an old crown and receive a new one. The numbing agent was administered only with slight discomfort, no impression was needed, no temporary crown and no return visit with Dr. Palmer 's state of the art equipment which also designed the crown via his specifications from a computer by my side and other equipment that actually 'made' the crown in 20 minutes while I relaxed and watched a movie of my choice!

For your convenience, we offer single-visit dentistry, with innovative CEREC technology. This system is often called 'crowns in a day,' but it can be used to fabricate a variety of porcelain restorations. Fillings, inlays, or onlays are conservative alternatives, which can also be fabricated and placed in one visit.

We believe in preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. After removing damaged and decayed material, inlays or onlays can be designed to fit the tooth just like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. Full crowns are only recommended when the damage is extensive enough that the tooth needs considerable reduction.

For fixed bridges we use Zirconia, a beautiful material with exceptional strength. Unless an especially large number of teeth are being replaced (requiring a long span), Zirconia is equivalent or superior to metal bridges for fracture resistance. The adjacent teeth must be reduced and crowned to support the bridge. We recommend dental implants as an alternative because they have no impact on healthy teeth and can last a lifetime.

Palmer Distinctive Dentistry - General dentist in Greenville, SC

Like traditional crowns, CEREC restorations are fabricated from an impression. Unlike the traditional method, this is a digital impression eliminating the discomfort and mess. Using sophisticated CAD/CAM software, we will design every detail of the restoration with exacting precision. The design is sent to our on-site milling machine, which sculpts the restoration in about 15 minutes.

I can sum this up in one sentence: Palmer Distinctive Dentistry is a gift from God! We come all the way from Myrtle Beach to go to this place and I don't regret one single mile traveled! Just walking in the place made my stress level go down 90%. If you don't want to be forced into x-rays whether or not you need them or told that fluoride is good for you when it's actually a toxic substance, then this is the place for you! Terrific staff and beautiful office where you really feel comfortable.

I just recently established care at Palmer and I have been so pleased with my experience so far. After learning about the health dangers of cavitations, I wanted to see if I had any cavitations that could pose a long term risk to my own health. They are the place to go if you have silver amalgams, root canals, or cavitations in your mouth and are suffering from chronic disease. Since I value the importance of holistic health care, seeing a holistic dentist was a no brainer. The staff is so welcoming and friendly also! Karyn was my hygienist and it was the most pleasant cleaning I've ever received! I will be referring many people to them from here on.

It took a while to get an appointment and I can see why possibly. This is the most professional dentist I have ever been to. Everyone was very friendly. They took time to explain everything and answer questions. The person at the front desk took time to find out about me, my interests, what's important to me, etc. Then as she took me back and introduced me to the dental hygienist she introduced me and told her about me (passing the information she had learned, along). The hygienist carried the information along to the dentist. Their communication and attention to detail is so impressive. There was even fresh chocolate cookies (regular and VEGAN!) available in the lobby. The office is beautiful! Its very modern and clean and I loved all the purple "my favorite color".
