DENTAL X-RAYS As a benefit to you, the digital x-ray provides nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray. This is due to the fact that the digital version of the x-ray is much more sensitive to this radiation and has been specifically designed with the patient in mind.
Digital x-rays are quickly becoming adopted by a large percentage of the dental industry. A digital x-ray allows the dentist to take an image of the tooth or teeth and put it into an imaging program. Within this imaging program, there are a number of tools that will allows Dr. Shepherd and Dr. Tom to take a very close look at the teeth and surrounding structures with amazing accuracy.
intraoral camera The intraoral camera is an amazing diagnostic tool for viewing different angles in the mouth that we would not have been able to just a few years ago. The camera gives us the ability to view the entire mouth on a monitor so that we can get a closer look at any potential issues or problems that may arise. In addition, you will have the ability to see for yourself first hand the same images we are seeing.
rotary endodontics Endodontics, more commonly known as root canals, is a procedure where the nerves of the tooth are removed opposed to extracting the tooth. This is often due to the fact that they are infected and the tooth is causing pain.
Rotary Endodontics is a way of performing the root canal utilizing a specific electrical handpiece. This tool often makes the process faster and allows the dentist to perform the process with greater ease.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to or exceed each agencies recommendations.

I do not have dental insurance and choose to go here. The Doctor's and staff are amazing at what they do; very thorough and a high level of customer service. I personally go to Ruben and I think he's great. Highly recommend.

It is hard to find the right superlatives to describe my experience with this dental practice. Their level of professionalism is unparalleled. From the way the phones are answered, to the thoroughness that Blanca Sosa handles scheduling details and billing and communication with my insurance provider--to the smile you can detect under the face mask of technician/dental assistant Ruben Tovar as he expertly handles the x-ray procedure and insures your comfort--to the very professional cleaning by Miguel Garcia, who makes sure you understand each step pf the process--this is the way a dental practice ought to be run!!! And then there is the dentist, Dr. Shepherd who takes time and with great attention to detail explains what the x-rays and pictures are showing so that you completely understand everything he points out. He is terrific! My husband and I are so happy we were referred to this practice and look forward to a long association with them.

UPDATE: all of the below is still absolutely true, but I need to add to it. I had to have some oral surgery and Dr Jeffrey Tom and Victoria were brilliant. Dr Tom could not have been more gentle and exact in his work. He also has a fun sense of humor while maintaining a professional demeanor. I was terrified to be honest but my worries were for not, they took excellent care of me and everything is healing beautifully. EVERYONE at Palm Springs Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is a rockstar! Today I had a cleaning with my hygienist, Ruben. He is funny and kind and gentle. And Blanca, Brian, and Nate, and Chris are THE BEST! My dental anxiety has almost vanished since I have been coming to PS Family and Cosmetic Dentistry. Today Miguel did such a gentle and great job cleaning my teeth, that I almost fell asleep. This is such an awesome place with a great team of caring individuals.

I developed a relatively sudden onset jaw or back tooth pain, hard to pinpoint. The staff were very helpful, made an appointment for within the week which is great by post pandemic standards, and made setting up a new patient visit very easy. Great communications and reminders too. Dr Tom and his tech took great care with the X-rays and exam and reassured me that the teeth were fine, highly unlikely to be any sort of oral cancer and explained the likely cause as muscular and some minor but nuisance bone structure deterioration (yes, one more aging effect) Dr Tom explained and demonstrated massage techniques and hydration strategies along with over the counter meds that should help. This was exactly my hope for the visit. Find the root cause (no pun intended) and rule out the dangerous possibilities. Peace of mind realized!
