It seems like yesterday when Dr. Jason Aragaki first opened his office back in 1995 in beautiful Paia town when he took over for retiring dentist, Dr. Richard Ikeda. We have come along way from those humble beginnings. We were excited to move from the older Ikeda Building location to our newly constructed office across the street five years later. We have watched our town grow and evolve into a bustling mecca of activity for visitors and locals alike. Through the years Dr. Aragaki continued to learn and perfect his dental skills while quietly building his reputation for providing excellent dental care with his gentle, experienced touch.
Dr. Aragaki attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990. Prior to opening his dental practice in Paia, Maui, he worked as a dentist for the State of Hawaii and Hilo Family Dental. He also has experience working in a Pedodontic office as a hygienist and he is great with kids! He is proud of his military days in the Air Force and life abroad in Germany.

I always feel more comfortable in Asian owned businesses. The dog is sweet (but not to be pet) and gives the place a more relaxed feel. Everyone was very understanding of my issues

Not only did their dog constantly bark and try to bite me, they tried to tack on an extra 1000$+ of fees after work was completed. The work they did was good but I would not go here as there are many dentists on island with much more integrity than these guys. Also dentist having small talk with people whilst working in my mouth was super unnerving. Again customer beware of this place. Jason, for future reference talking about McDonald's when your working on someone's mouth doesn't feel good nor is safe

I choose Paia family dental because they are friendly and I have had the best dental work of my life. They don't use mercury, are very gentle and I feel like they really care.

Sad to say, terrible visit:( Hygienist was extremely rushed through my cleaning, she hung the "spit sucker" on my cheek while she was doing my cleaning but it kept falling out in my hair.. no apologies, she just continued to put it in the same spot. So I held it up in my mouth after the third time it fell, for the remaining 15 mins with no thank you. Flossing was rough and my gums are sore still- two days later. My mouth burns when I drink hot tea. The dentist came in after cleaning and I told him my insurance only covers bitewing X-rays every 24 months. He didn't seem to believe me, going to ask the receptionist what it was, to come back and tell me "sometimes insurance means full picture mouth X-rays". I said I know what my coverage is, but thanks for checking anyway, I'm going to reject the X-rays today and just get an annual exam( the X-rays they had on file were only 1 1/2 years old anyway). He then bluntly asked me "So, let me get this straight just out of curiousity- you made this appointment to just get a teeth cleaning? No x rays or fluoride?" Honestly, I was taken aback and felt offended that I offered him my business. I will not be returning... Paia Family Dental you need to step your business game up. Aloha.
