Pagosa Dental Care - General dentist in Pagosa Springs, CO

Dr. Thornell and his wife Sherry have lived in Pagosa Springs for over sixteen years. Originally drawn by the natural beauty of southwest Colorado, there was something about the people and community of Pagosa Springs that made the transition from city life to rural America more of a calling. This move was the prefect marriage of serving and making a difference with the love of all that Pagosa Springs has to offer.

Dr. Thornell has over thirty years of experience in every facet of modern dentistry with specialized training in dental implant surgery and complex restorative care. Dentistry has changed dramatically over the years and Dr. Thornell has stayed on top of all the latest advancements and technology by participating in over a hundred and fifty hours of advanced clinical education a year.

One of the most exciting advances in dentistry Dr. Thornell passionately offers is the Teeth in A Day or the All-on-4 technique for those individuals who may be losing all their teeth or have dentures that do not fit well, look good or function properly. If someone has battled tooth decay, endless dental repairs or gum disease that has never gone away even after treatment, the All-on-4 solution is truly a God Send. Instead of this being a hopeless situation the All-on-4, Teeth in A Day solution can deliver stability and peace of mind where there is no longer any worry or anxiety about your dental health.

Dr. Thornell can now offer life restoring hope to those who have these debilitating conditions by giving them beautiful teeth, confidence and functionality in just one day. This is a service that Dr. Thornell has been uniquely trained and certified in that only few dentists are qualified to perform. Nowhere else in southwest Colorado can you exchange your poor dental health and teeth for a vibrant new healthy smile in just one day!

Along with this specialized training, Dr. Thornell has also been awarded Diplomat status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, their highest level of accreditation and Master accreditation with the International Dental Implant Association for his expertise in dental implant surgery and dental implant restoration. These organizations are led by the most respected and experienced implantologists from all over the world and have rigorous standards and requirements for implant excellence that Dr. Thornell has attained.

In addition, he has been selected by the Academy of General Dentistry to receive their coveted Mastership award in 2017 for completing over fifteen hundred hours of advanced continuing education in every dental discipline being taught today, an achievement that less than three percent of all dentists in the U.S. and Canada have obtained. Along with the all the training and education Dr. Thornell possesses, special attention has also been given to the latest technology he owns and utilizes daily to provide a level of care that rivals any specialty practice in a large metropolitan city.

One of the best things about being a dentist Dr. Thornell says is being able to change the lives of people he serves. He believes that the well being of the whole body depends on keeping all areas of the body disease free. When he can help restore someone back to health, function and happiness, it is a reward that lives on past the service itself and will impact the lives of others for years to come. This is the legacy Dr. Thornell wants to leave and he is passionate about serving others with the best dentistry has to offer.

Started out great staff ,receptionist very friendly, took to many x-rays for a consultation for implants all I needed was crowns for implants . Wanted to charge more money to me for equipment he did not have. LOL he is a joke won't recommend this dentist to anyone bad additive for a dentist when people are already uneasy to go to one. I am in the medical field and he is a narcissistic doctor its his way or I he can't do it. I should have figured something was wrong when asked if I have ever sued a dentist before.

My wife went to Pagosa Dental for a consultation to have a single tooth implant. The estimate for a single tooth implant was $12,000! (yes, that is 12 thousand) They said they would check with our insurance to see how much we would have to pay out of pocket and they would call us back, that was over a week ago, and still no call. Also, the appointment was scheduled for 2 pm, we waited 45 minutes in the waiting room before she was seen. Then, she sat in the chair for another hour and fifteen minutes for x-rays and consultation about pricing and scheduling. 2 hours of wasted time. We'll take our business elsewhere.

ZERO STARS! I am sure they will reply the have no record of me visiting like every other negative review. I had the WORST experience here and finally got the nerve to write a review. Unprofessional, greedy, and condescending dentist. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PAGOSA DENTAL CARE.

When you move to a new town, one of the first things you do is identify good resources like you had in your old town: dentist, doctor, hair stylist, vet, etc. That's what I did. I talked with a few friends for recommendations and looked things up on the web. My friends suggested I check out Dr. William Thornell of Pagosa Dental Care. I was able to get in quickly because I had a troublesome tooth that needed to be checked out. Dr Thornell was friendly, open and patient with me. He took several xrays and showed me the results. He spent awhile explaining what was going on. I needed an extraction and was able to get an appt early the next morning. Amazing. I worked with Sherry, who carefully explained costs, and Kendry who helped schedule an appt for the next day. You can immediately tell that everyone in the entire office loves what they do and is dedicated to focusing on each patient's needs. I was pretty shook up post-procedure, and they took extra care of me. They brought me a smoothie from the coffee shop downstairs, and Connie (she assisted Dr Thornell in the procedure and provided lots of support) helped me get to my car because it was snowing. Later that day I received calls from Dr. Thornell as well as from Linda in the front office checking to see how I was doing and asking if I needed anything from the local market. Not only do I have an excellent dentist, I have an entire TEAM dedicated to my well-being. Much more than I bargained for. This is one resource I don't have to search for.

ZERO STARS & EXPENSIVE!! I was visiting Pagosa to ski when my crown fell off. I called to see if I could get an appointment to get my crown re-affixed. I spoke to the dental hygienist who informed me that she would do the work for $150 which included an x-ray which I didn't want! Non-negotiable. In addition, they would not take my Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO insurance and that I would be required to pay the full amount in cash. I would then be responsible for requesting reimbursement from my insurance company. No, thank you. In Texas (home) I am out of network with my dentist, but he bills the insurance and then bills me for the balance. This place is 'bass-akwards' and was of NO help in the billing process. I found some temporary dental cement at Walmart for $3.

While visiting Pagosa Springs I broke a tooth and was up all night with pain on the other side of my mouth I called Pagosa dental care the next AM and they told me they would work me in! The waiting room was very busy but as soon as I did the required paperwork I was taken back for X rays . Dr. Tornell said other than my broken tooth there was some swelling along the gum line but a scan would be able to tell more. That scan was done quickly by his friendly office staff. Dr Thornell showed me the scan and explained that I had an infection and showed me my other healthy teeth and suggested I get a crown on the broken tooth and should see my dentist when I returned home. He wrote me a prescription and I was on my way. The staff was helpful and friendly the place was clean and the exam was reasonably priced. I don't have dental insurance. Later I found out that the scan could have cost me over $300! Thank you for your generosity Dr Tornell and Pagosa Dental Care staff Thank you for saving my vacation in beautiful Pagosa Springs. I highly recommend this group.

40 years ago I broke my jaw needless to say I have seen many orthodontists, Dentists, and surgeons. I broke one of my veneers and in 2 weeks going to a big wedding, they worked me in the next day put a temporary in and put an ASAP to the lab for the porcelain. It was THE BEST dental experience I've ever had.

I would recommend Dr Thornell and his staff to anyone who is dentally challenged. His obsession with continued education and true caring for his patient made this a no-brainer when deciding where to go. I had all of my teeth removed and replaced with permanent top and bottom all-on-four/six implants. I chose the teeth in a day method. Honestly I was shocked when a little over a year ago I went into my regular dentist for a cleaning and found out that my bones were no longer supporting my teeth. I did receive a couple of concurring diagnosis. My husband and I love to cook and taste flavors and the thought of covering up my taste buds with a denture just wasn't going to cut it. (I even had a denture made prior to deciding to go with all-on-four procedure). I spent the year reading and trying to decide. Now I am a week post dental implant surgery. I am back at work with a new smile and good teeth for life!. Dr Thornell and his staff took excellent care of myself, and my husband who stayed in town with me during the procedure. (They actually put us up in a hotel as we live in the next town). This is a large decision and huge procedure, involving my husband every step of the way towards my well-being added another gold star to the big event. Everyone was there for me mentally and physically. I always felt I was in the best of hands, and knew that everyone truly cared about how I was doing. Regardless of time of day, Dr Thonell was available and checking on my well-being. Bottom line, whether you need one implant or all implants, we are very lucky to have Dr Thornell in our rural area. i have total confidence in referring anyone with dental needs to his office. I LOVE MY NEW TEETH!

Get a second opinion. I was told I had 6 cavities, I have had healthy teeth so this was a shock. Visited Another dentist and was told there was only one. He did work on my husband's teeth and they never healed now he has to get a root canal. I can't help but wonder if his tooth was heathy before we found out this dentist is fraudulent.
