Dr. Eric was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. He graduated in 1997 from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. He practiced one year in Clackamas, Oregon before moving to Vancouver, Washington and opening Padden Dental. Dr. Eric has a special interest in endodontics. I like endodontics because it is usually associated with a patient in pain. I like to get people out of pain and by doing so their fear of dentistry reduces.

Ive seen that transition over and over again and it creates happy and smiling patients. It is very gratifying to me whenever I can be involved in that transformation. Dr. Dahlen lives in the Felida area of Clark County with wife Deanna, two young daughters and an Australian Labradoodle dog named Harley. In his spare time he enjoys backpacking, exploring the Columbia Gorge, seeing new movies, running and spending time with his family.

Invisalign is a brand-name orthodontic product that uses a series of invisible plastic aligners customized for your mouth. The purpose of Invisalign is to straighten teeth that are misaligned or to properly space crowded teeth. When you choose Invisalign, your dentist will take impressions and X-rays of your teeth. These are then used to make your set of 24 or more custom Invisalign aligners. The dentist will give you one to three aligners at a time and a schedule for changing aligners. You will likely wear the same aligner for about two weeks. Each aligner is shaped slightly differently and moves your teeth just a tiny distance closer to the correct position. About once per month, you will come in for a checkup. For most patients, Invisalign treatment takes 10 to 24 months. However, if you wore braces as a teenager and your teeth have only slightly shifted, you might only need to wear the Invisalign aligners for two to four months.[1]

Invisalign aligners work best for adults and teenagers with fully developed jaws and fully erupted adult teeth. Invisalign aligners are ideal if you have mild to moderate misalignment or crowding of the teeth.

If you have a complex orthodontic situation, you might not qualify for the Invisalign system. For example, Invisalign may not be an effective solution for severe under-bites, over-bites and cross-bites.[2] If you dont want the hassle of trying to floss around braces or if you dont want people to notice your braces, Invisalign may be a good solution for you.

Invisalign offers a custom solution to your unique orthodontic situation. The aligners are made specifically for you and are a subtle addition to your smile. With Invisalign, you do not have to worry about painful adjustments of braces, and the smooth surfaces of the aligners will not cut your cheeks or tongue like the sharp metal wires of traditional braces.

Because you take out the aligners when you eat, you also do not have to worry about food getting stuck in them. You can eat your usual favorite foods while using Invisalign, including hot and cold foods that would otherwise be irritating to sensitive teeth with regular braces. The aligners are easy to clean with your regular brand of toothpaste, and you dont have to worry about bad breath due to food that is caught in the wires or tight spaces of traditional metal braces. Dental procedures have literally been revolutionized since the introduction of computer-assisted design computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology for the dentist office. Now, same-day dentistry encompasses a wide variety of restorative dental treatments. According to the abstract from a journal article published by the American Dentistry Association (ADA):

The in-office application of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) has evolved continually across 25 years, and material enhancements made in conjunction with this evolution have improved the speed and precision with which dentists can place high-quality, esthetic restorations for almost every dental application.

In the past, most common restorative and cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as; crowns, implants, bridges, even dental veneers required multiple dental visits and procedures and resulted in significant time in which patients awaited their new smile. Those were the dark ages of dentistry. Read on to learn about the modern dental practices we provide.

At our family dentistry in Vancouver, we can complete many of these ceramic dental restorations within minutes, using newertechnology. This means you can have many of these treatments done in just one dental visit! The following is ashort list of benefits provided by CAD/CAM dentistry:

If you are one of the many patients who become nervous for any type of dental procedure, you can rest easy to get it all done in one visit. Plus, this efficiency can also reduce your overall dental work costs. Lets review what types of same-day dental procedures we offer at Padden Dental.

These dental tools are the core of our same-day dentistry services. Our hand-held digital imaging cameras take the visualizations of your teeth and mouth in a non-invasive and comfortable manner. Then, those images are uploaded in the CAD machine that allows us to quickly construct your dental treatments, that are then sent to our CAM equipment that mills your ceramic treatment within minutes.

At Padden Dental, we are committed to providing patient-focused, high-quality dental care. In order to achieve this goal, we believe that providing the most efficient treatments is a core principal in this offering. The technology we provide, right here in our Vancouver dental office, gives us the ability to create, design, and mill tooth-colored fillings, bondings, and ceramic crowns in a single visit.

Our in-house equipment is the most modern, best technology available in restorative dentistry. Ceramic dental implants, in-lays, on-lays and dental bridges can be constructed for our patients during a same-day visit with our CAD/CAM dentistry equipment. However, depending on the candidate, we often send out the bridge development to a specialized lab for construction, which will take more than one day.

Sedation dentistry is used by an ever-increasing number of dentists to offer an anxiety-free and relaxing experience for qualified individuals who are receiving dental treatment. By using sedation, individuals who are afraid to get their dental care or are afflicted with what is commonly known as dental phobia are able to get the health care they need. Sedation is a process used to get you into a calm and relaxed state through the use of various sedatives. These drugs can be administered in several different ways.

For many years, sedatives were predominately administered through an IV. While this process is both safe and effective, modern alternatives not requiring a needle, such as nitrous oxide gas, are becoming more popular.

Oral sedation is the most common sedation technique used in the United States. Because it is simple and painless, many people opt for this form of sedation.Although the patient maintains consciousness throughout the medical procedure when using oral sedation, the drug has such an effect on the brain that the patient feels a great reduction in fear and anxiety. Some people wont remember much about the dental procedure while under the influence of oral sedation. A caregiver and driver will be required for anyone wanting to undergo oral sedation.. Another benefit to oral sedation is that it canfeel as if the dental treatment lasted only several minutes when in reality it may have been several hours.

Inhalation sedation: This form of sedation is more commonly known as nitrous oxide sedation. One of the primary benefits of this form of sedation is that it can be consistently regulated and has almost no side effects. You will be able to drive home shortly after the procedure.

Intravenous sedation: This is the most powerful type of sedation and is commonly used to treat moderate to severe dental anxiety. The only drawback is that the procedure requires a needle, so if you are scared of needles, this option may not be for you.

Intramuscular conscious sedation: This is not commonly used anymore for general treatment. Dentists tend to reserve it for fearful children. A shot is injected into the thigh or upper arm, and the drug will take effect within a half hour.

My husband and I can't recommend Dr. Dahlen and his team highly enough at Padden dental. I had not been to the dentist in many years and Dr. Dahlen assured me we could come up with a plan and addressed my concerns very specifically. He was patient in answering my anxiety laden questions. He was able to effectively relieve my pre procedure anxiety and keep pain level to an imperceivable level. I TRULY enjoy my dental visits now with this sweet and knowledgeable team!! ALL staff here are amazing!! Lisa Washington

I am the test book definition of being worried about going to the dentist. I've had my fair share of bad experiences in the past. I've been coming to Padden Dental for over a year now and every time I've visited, they've been so kind and thoughtful. They explain everything clearly without hesitation and make my experiences truly fantastic every time. I'm no longer worried about going to the dentist directly thanks to Dr. Vorobets, Taylor, Filah, Rigel, Lacie and Renae! Thank you.

My husband and I both had a very positive experience with this office. The last dental office we went to felt more like a used car lot. There was no such pressure for treatment here, just frank, informative discussion about treatment suggestions and options. We really appreciated that! Everyone was lovely from the receptionist, dentist, hygienist and office staff when paying bill. Great place! Glad we found it!
