Dr. Nam Cho is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and is the Director for the Residency training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the USC School of Dentistry. He is actively involved in educating residents in the clinic and operating room setting. Dr. Cho completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology. He went on to complete dental school, medical school, a general surgery internship, and a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at USC. His primary interests include dentoalveolar and implant surgery, orthognathic surgery, general anesthesia and facial trauma surgery.

Dr. Yip is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a lifelong native of Southern California. He has completed an extensive education at UCLA and USC. He received his bachelors degree in psychobiology at UCLA in 2003, and he continued his education at the UCLA School of Dentistry to earn a masters degree in oral biology and oral cancer research in 2007.

During this time, Dr. Yip developed an interest in oral disease and reconstruction, ultimately leading to his training in oral and maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Yip earned his dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2010, and he was subsequently admitted to the competitive oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at USC. He then earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at USC in 2013, and completed an internship in general surgery in 2014 at LAC+USC Medical Center.

Dr. Yip completed his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at USC in 2016 with extensive exposure to maxillofacial trauma, pathology, reconstruction, orthognathic (corrective) jaw surgery, dentoalveolar surgery and dental implants. He is currently an assistant clinical professor at USCs oral & maxillofacial division.

Dr. Jeffrey Hammoudeh is one of the elite oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States. He has extensive experience in orthognathic surgery, including correction of dental malocclusion to help reposition and align the upper and lower jaw. Dr. Hammoudeh is also one of only a handful of surgeons that can offer the surgery first technique, which is a method of performing formal corrective jaw surgery first and doing orthodontics second.

Dr. Hammoudeh uses modern computer-aided, virtual surgical planning and three-dimensional models to show you exactly how your surgery will be approached. Using comprehensive facial x-rays and computer video imaging, we can show you how your bite will be improved and even give you an idea of how you will look after surgery. This helps you understand the surgical process and the extent of the proposed treatment. If you are a candidate for corrective jaw surgery, Dr. Hammoudeh and his team will work closely with your orthodontist during your treatment.

In addition to treating overbites, underbites, and crossbites, Dr. Hammoudeh is one of a handful of surgeons in the nation to correct moderate-to-severe sleep apnea. The procedure is known as maxillary and mandibular advancement, which is the process of moving the upper and lower jaws forward to increase the airway space. Formal orthognathic surgery has been proven to help alleviate obstructive sleep apnea, therefore eliminating the need for a CPAP device.

Dr. Hammoudeh is a recognized leader in the area of maxillofacial oncology field. He can comprehensively diagnose, treat and surgically intervene all jaw tumors and jaw cancers from its initial stage to reconstruction and rehabilitation. He has authored many book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles and lectured nationally, as well as internationally.

Dr. Urata trained for 18 years following his undergraduate education. He received his dental degree from the USC School of Dentistry and his medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine. He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery before matriculating to general surgery and then completing a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at USC. He then moved across town where he completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He specializes in the most complex craniofacial anomalies, including craniosynostosis, syndromic reconstruction, vascular anomalies, pediatric and adult craniomaxillofacial trauma, post-traumatic reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, and aesthetic surgery of the head and neck and jaw deformities.

Dr. Urata has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters and has been voted amongst the nations top surgeons according to multiple sources including U.S. News and World Report, Best Doctors and Americas Best Plastic Surgeons. He maintains NIH funded research within the Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology related to defining TGF Beta signaling in palatogenesis. He is also interested in computerized planning of Le Fort III and orthognathic surgery and outcomes studies on cleft lip and palate.

Dr. Eric Mejia is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who currently resides in Pasadena, California. He was born and raised in wild, wonderful West Virginia then moved to New York City to complete his undergraduate studies at Columbia University. He left his career in finance and small business management for a life dedicated to patient care and moved to California for dental school and residency. He earned his dental degree (DDS) at the University of California, Los Angeles and completed his oral and maxillofacial residency training at the University of Southern California where he trained extensively at premiere institutions, including LAC + USC Medical Center, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. This allowed him to gain extensive experience by treating the most complex cases in head and neck surgery.

His clinical interests include dentoalveolar surgery (dental extractions, bone grafting and implants), orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), head and neck trauma, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease, and obstructive sleep apnea surgery. Dr. Cho was extremely wonderful and professional. He was able to calm me during the entire procedure (I have a tendency to be nervous). The nurses were A+ also. Front desk people were all friendly and nice-looking :) After PPO insurance it was about $150 for two teeth. I had local anesthesia. I had a better recovery timeline than when I had my wisdom teeth (left side) removed in China. So USA No. 1 LOL

I went to get two impacted wisdom teeth removed, and I was super nervous. I read a review on Yelp on how the consultation fee ($200) is waived if you get the teeth removed the same day, so that is what I did to save some money. Leading up to the day, I was scared and worried on how the surgery would be and the recovery process, but thankfully, it was not as terrible or traumatic as I imagined. The price was decent considering I have no dental insurance too. $425 per tooth and that's the highest price they charge! The day of the appointment, the lady at the desk (Debbie I believe) was super friendly. I was allowed to bring a panoramic x-ray from another dentist and emailed it to her, saving another fee for x-rays. Then, I went in for a consultation where I met Dr. Nam Cho. He was friendly as well, explaining what he would be doing to remove the teeth and asking if I had any questions. Then, I signed a consent form and paid the fees at the front before being brought in to the "surgery room." The nurses(?) were also super nice. She took my blood pressure and then Dr. Cho came in to numb the areas. It wasn't too painful, just a pinch here and there on both sides. I was left alone for like ten minutes before they came back to begin the procedure. I was allowed to bring in earphones so I had my music playing while they did the surgery. Happy to say that it was not as traumatic as you would think for a procedure done awake. I only felt pressure, heard some cracking and drilling sounds, and smelled the nasty scent of your teeth (like when you get a filling). Nothing out of the ordinary. Also, I have to say that Dr. Cho was super caring, periodically checking on me and making sure I wasn't in pain. When he was on my second tooth, I felt some nerve pain so I let him know and he immediately injected more local anesthesia. The entire thing took 30 minutes at most. I got dissolved stitches on both sides. I was asked if I regretted not going to sleep at the end, and I immediately shook my head. As a woman, this surgery was nothing. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this clinic and am planning to come back again for another wisdom teeth. I got prescribed antibiotics and some painkillers. A week later, I am feeling almost back to normal and so glad to have these pesky teeth removed.

Oral surgeon was great, really helped me when I developed an infection. However, the office staff are horrible. I went in with an appointment and was told it would take 30-45 min and I'd be done. I left 2 hours later. Beware that they make you pay half, even with insurance. And once my claim was processed I had been over charged, and they never called or sent mail to say they were going to issue a refund. Trying to get the refund was annoying. Darcy was rude and dismissive the entire call. I had to schedule a time to call back because Darcy was "too busy" to help me. When I did call back the process took less than five minutes, but she was still rude to me. I will never recommend this office to anyone.

Wow, what a great oral surgeon! I came here because I was referred by Dr. Jack Von Bulow. I cracked my back molar, and needed it to get extracted. I wanted to go to Smilecare in Rosemead, but after reading all the terrible reviews for that place, I decided to come to Yelp, and read reviews for a dentist in my area. I am soooo glad that I did!! Normally I go to cheap dentists, but after reading some of the horror stories, I decided to go with a better dentist, and not skimp on my mouth. I went to their office, they gave me a quick appointment (because I was in pain) and they confirmed that I needed to have it pulled. I am wimpy, so I had them put me under. Within an hour, I was awake again, and tooth was extracted, with minimal swelling to my face. It is now the next day, and the area is maybe 5% tender, with NO swelling (yay! I don't look beat up!! ha ha!). I am utterly pleased with this oral surgeon, he has a great bedside manner and highly recommend him to anyone!!
